So i got my 15Qd2, and it seems to be running pretty warm. No smoke or anything, just that when i get home from banging on it a bit it feels a little hot. Just got it two weeks ago so not sure if it's still just from breaking in, which i'm thinking not, or maybe from low voltage?? It's running off of a fosgate p1000-1bd and the gain is just over half and under 3/4. My lights do dim a lot when it hits. There is a little smell, but smells more like breaking in smell, not vc burning smell, hence no smoke and when i took it out a few days ago vc still looked brand new. Basically, any thoughts on getting the sub to run cooler?? I'm thinking this could become an issue if p…

So, I've got a question regarding the power handling capability of the X series 15" sub. I'm building a Tapped Horn that's going to load the sub down at 25hz and 60hz. I am expecting to see maybe 5mm excursion @ 400 watts at those two frequencies with a max excursion of 14mm @ 30Hz. My question would be, in your guys' opinion, will I burn up the VC because there won't be enough motion to cool the coil off? This whole project is a bit of a technical practical to see how low and loud I can go. The tapped horn should give me excellent low end extension into ~20Hz and keep the coil in the gap @ 400watts. Just wanted your guys' opinion on the power handing capacity. Thank…

Here is my problem/hold up. I am getting a new truck, one for pure audio fun, full size of course. I will be doing a cut through, so the entire bed is game. I want tons of SPL, enough to make your stomach almost turn. I want 4 15's and am not sure what to go with BTL or BL. I know I need some good amps to push them. What all power wise (wires, alt, extra batteries) would I need and about how much/where can I get a alternator from. I have some crap P3's now and want to do a massive jump up. I got addicted and my friends are killin me, want to destroy them. Thanks

im currently in the process of building my system using the said products in the Title.. my question are, will this amp be good if not perfect for the 18" BTL fully loaded? is the amp stable at 1 ohm? ive seen the specs of this amp but im kinda confused cause it was only CEA certified at 2000wrms @ 2ohms. i'll be adding a Kinetik HC2400 battery using a 90 amp stock alt and a regular battery? do you think my electricals can handle my system? and lastly, im gonna jail the sub with a 5cu.ft. (net) enclosure tuned at around 30 to 33Hz. will this planned system work? oh and btw, is that amp even good enough to work with in the first place?

The fi Q 15 has a sealed enclosure range from 2.0 to 2.6 cu.ft. At which enclosure size within this range would product the best results for a SQ setup? Thanks guys.

Hi all! I have a 2004 Dodge Ram Quad cab. These things are impossible for trying to put in subs without pulling out seats and all kinds of stuff (not interested in). Found a guy who makes a specific "molded" box that goes underneath the rear seats. I really want to go with the Fi Q 12", heard really good things about the Q's and I prefer 12's over 10's for the notes they hit. However, this box has a single chamber totalling 1.8ft^3 in a sealed setup for a 12". Will the .9 - displacement per sub be enough to adequately run? How much polyfil should I use? He also makes a 10" vented @ 36hz and 10" sealed. The airspace would be the same as the above box. Would it rea…

sealed up at the kicks i hit a 144.8 with my single 12" BL. at the dash sealed i got a 144.3 the meter was an audio control. and i lost 1 db when i opened the window. song i used was airforces and hypnotize. they both did about the same number. Basically what i want to know is if this is a good number for a single twelve trunked car? could i get it higher by using a 50 hz test tone or somthing?

( i am also using 3/4 inch mdf) And should I have a baffle in between the subs or would one large box be best? Box 1 height 19" width 39.5" depth 23" Box 2 height 16" width 39" depth 35" Any help would be appreciated.

I'm pretty sure this isn't possible but, I was wondering if the Q series was universal. I have a Q10 D1 coils paired with a Sundown sae-1000D wired at 2ohms. I know that some of the subs you can change with a recone. Otherwise anyone know some magical way to get a 1ohm load on my amp haha.

I saw NDMStang65s post and how he hit pretty good numbers with a single 18" BTL and a hifonics bxi2008d. I'm getting a set-up like this and I was hoping ( talking mostly to NDMStang65) If you could hook me up with a good box design to let the BTL get loud Thanks! Cody

Hi, I'm for sure a newbie, especially when making boxes, I just ordered my first Fi product ever, the 18" SSD, and i'm super excited. Probably to excited to be honest but I have a question about my box. I used RE's box calculator and tried to make it fit perfectly in my vehicle, I wanted the box tuned to 30 hz and I did all that. The thing that I'm worried about is if my sub is going to move to easily and I'll end up damaging my woofer D: The box size is 5.6 cubic feet and tuned to ~30.7Hz. The port is 3" wide and 22.5" tall, and its a slot port. The port area is 67.5 square inches I can give all exact dimensions if needed. Thanks in advance!

  22. hey all, i am looking to build a 4th order wall setup in my 88 suburban with 4 BTL UFO pie slug 18s, they will have xmax coils and rig is dedicated SPL/demo. i would really love to find out what sealed size i need to base my wall off. since i want the bandwidth i am thinking 2:1 ratio. i have a calculated 100cf3 to work with so space is a plenty.. (50.25w x38t x91l) subs will be inverted (motor showing) all on the back wall, loading wall port will be drivers side. untill i find a sealed cf size per sub i really cant do a thing... ready to start buying lumber and resin

  24. Well my issue here is a i just picked up a fi btl n2 (came in today) and i'm going to start building the box for it soon. i recently found out to quite a bit of dissapointment, that my rockford fosgate t2500-1bdCP doesn't have a variable subsonic filter, but rather a cheesy switched one. I know i need to tune my amp 2-3 hertz below my enclsoures PTF, but what if my enclosure ends up being out of range or the amplifiers tuning controls? Crossover Controls Low-Pass (LP): 35Hz-250Hz @ 24dB/octave Butterworth Infrasonic: 12dB/octave Butterworth, -3dB @ 28Hz any insight guys?
