I see that the mounting depth on the 15" BTL is 8.25"; so Im assuming the mounting depth with the 3rd mag would be a inch more @ 9.25"? Would 1/2" between the back of the woofer and the enclosure be enough to let the sub vent? Cuz 1/2" is all I can do

Well, i've figured out that I can fit a 5.5 cu box in my trunk, now i was originally going to go with two 15" btl's but after taking measurements, it seems like my trunk would be more suited for two 12" btl's. My question is, which would sound better/be louder/hit lower freq's better in a 5.5cu ported box? they will be tuned at about 32hz Any help would be appreciated, thankss

im looking at the hifonics bxi2607d amp. Its rated 2600 watts at 1ohm. From what i have heard ( and also from personal use) the bxi line is over-rated by about 200-300 watts. This amp is a little different from the other amps in the bxi line. For one, this is the 2007 model. Also, this one is strapable. Does anyone have experience with this amp? I want to know if this amp will be able to push a loaded 15" btl and sound good enough doing it? i dont think im going to get the $40 cooling, just the $10 one. I am going to run it off of a 140a alt, 2 batterys (one of them a yellow top), and do the big 3. I also plan on using a 5 farad cap. I read a thread on roe that they are u…

which one would sound louder (spl) because i like the idea of having an 18 but i only have room for about 5 cubes so after diplacement and all that it would be in the 4cu/ft range like i know it would have more cone area but in a box too small for it btl would have the cooling and himax coil options

I scored 2 15"q's of ebay for 405$ So im in the process of designing a new box for them. My box total after speaker and bracing displacement is 11.488cuft. So i need about 137-183 inches of port area. I was thinking a 9inx20in port 25.84 inches long for 30hz. That would leave me 8.798cuft after all displacement with 180 inches of port area. Does this sound good? If not what would you reccomend?

I was banging it at mid level volume (25 out 0f 60) for about an hour. Its getting 1200 watts rms from a 9.1 at 1 ohm, my gains must be set a little to high. I bought an old bass mechanic cd from circuit city yesterday, this morning I put it in just before I left my home, by the time I made it to work I was at the end of the cd and was listening to test tones, they went from 20hz all the way to 99hz, I only listened up to 35hz before I cut it off. I felt my amp before leaving the vehicle, it too was warm, I have never been able to get my 9.1 warm before. I then checked the BL in the trunk, the dust cap and surround were warm as well. I never once smelled any coil or glue …

Hi to all, this is my first post in this forum I have some question to ask and i hope to get some answers First of all, i have already checked the "SSD Box cut sheets!" topic but the box measures are too big, but also i read the box must be of 6/10 cu.ft So i ask if the following measures are ok for a FI SSD 18" (i want brutal bass, a huge pressure, feel bass hits my head and also get accorded at low frequencies like 30-33) Box: 6.6 cu.ft Box Width = 27.55 inches (70 cm) Box Height = 19.68 inches (50 cm) Box length = 19.68 inches (50 cm) Air Port height = 11.81 inches (30 cm) Air Port width = 3.93 inches(10 cm) Air Port length = 15.74 inches ( 40 cm) I calculated the m…

Well im in my garage right now trying to decide if i should make a 5" slot port tuned to 32hz, a 4" slot port tuned to 31hz, or a 3" tuned to 27hz... Im using the RE calculator to build a box and when im looking at the 5" port it says the Volume internal, and volume displaced is 2000...on the others its 1500 and below..i have no idea what this means, is it how loud the box will be or what..Which port u think i should design???Also the larger the port the less box volume i have..its been between 3.6-4ft3..i cant make a bigger box so let me kno which port is gonna be the best!! PS. the box i have been running is below 1000 volume internal and displaced, so im guessing the …

I just bought two 15" SSDs with the copper coil option..I will be giving them 1500 watts.. I have a '95 4-door Blazer they will be going in. My question is, what size box and tuning would be ideal for the best LSQ I can get out of this? I want the subs to be able to get LOW also.. And how much port area?> I am new to multiple sub setups.. Does each 15" need its on chamber? On another note. WOuld I get better results with the subs/port facing back towards the hatdch, or sub up, port back CRX style?

I haven't ever designed a ported box before, but I did alot of reading and sat here for a few hours and came up with a design for my enclosure. You guys wanna check and see if I did it correctly? will be using 3/4" MDF. Outer dimensions: 29.5" width 15" height 15" depth Inner dimensions: 28" width 13.5" height 13.5" depth Volume = 28 * 13.5 * 13.5 = 5103 cubic inches convert that to cu.ft 5103 / 1728 = 2.95 cu.ft before sub/port displacement Port dimensions (which I hope are correct): 2" width 13.5" height 20.53" length Port volume = 2 * 13.5 * 20.53 = 554.31 cu.in convert to cu.ft 554.31 / 1728 = .32 cu.ft so... 2.95 minus .32 minus .15 (sub displacement) = 2.48 cu.ft I…

New to Fi and just picked up a 18" btl. Need some suggestions on box size and tuning. I have about 10 cubes gross before driver and port. Looking to do a sub up, port back, tuned to maybe 35hz with 4k of power. A few have said that these have tremendous bottom end so I'd like to tune appropriately.

Hello there! So a couple months ago I reconed my 12'' fully loaded (older-model) BTL. Before, it lived in one of Pete's Team Toxic Enclosures...but due to the possibility that it may have blown because of the complexity of the enclosure...I want to design a more simple one with the same dimensions of the previous. Problem is, I do not know how to design one. The dimensions would be 20 by 30 by 14. I would like it to be tuned at 32 hz. If someone could please point me towards a thread with the same specs, or design one for me. I would be very greatful. The sooner I could have this figured out, the sooner I can build the box and install the subwoofer. Thank you. P.S. : …

Good morning to all. Ok, have a build question for the forum. I'm looking to get an 18" BTL soon and was curious as to what would sound the best in regards to sub direction. Room is not an issue as I have an SUV. I'd like to take a poll and get opinions on why you chose the following: 1.Sub up to roof and port to back of vehicle 2.Sub forward to driver and port to back of vehicle 3.Sub to back of vehicle and port to back of vehicle 4.Sub forward to driver and port forward to driver 5.Sub up to roof and port up to roof I'm really looking for ground punding and earthquaking when I want the sub to perform, yet sound decent with pop music as well. I have a broad range of mus…

hey, i have access to some ED Ov.2 motors, and was thinking it might be a good start to recone. Can a drop in recone kit be had for this sub? the vc is 62.5mm which is right around 2.5 in. I would like something inexpensive and sq related. i read in previous threads where the older e12k (desjil) was reconeable for like $60 or something. Let me know! thanks, brian here are the specs for the O: http://www.edesignaudio.com/edv2/product_i...;products_id=35

Does the copper option affect (lower?) the power handling? Since the flatwind increases power handling, decreases SQ, and the copper increases SQ a bit, the copper must have some kind of trade off, which I was thinking was a loss of power handling. Just wondering, Trevor
