Hello, I'm thinking about getting 1 18" bl sub pretty soon, so I'm designing the enclosure now to make sure it fits. I have a 2000 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor, so the trunk is pretty big. I want to do a sub up, port back enclosure, but I'm open to anything. I'd like to get it around 7ft^3. Here are a couple pics from a crown vic's trunk. I wrote in my trunk dimensions on one of them. They are (as accurate as I could get ) 26"D x 41"W x 20" H (13" clearance under the spare tire, 20" for the whole trunk) Heres a video with the kind of enclosure I would like to build Would this be possible in my trunk? Also, what dimensions should I be looking at for my port? I'm a…

I'm looking at upgrading my subs in the near future to a 15" Q. Could someone give me an idea on the outer box dimensions so I can see if a 15 will fit in my 1994 Mazda 626. looking for about the 4 cu. ft. net tuned to 30-32 Hz. I'm limited to about 17" high by about 30" wide. I assume with those dimensions I'll likely have to go with the sub facing up. Is there any potential problems with this? If it doesn't work out with the 15 I'll have to get a 12 instead.

ok guys i have a RF BD1500, birthsheet 1740 @1ohm, would 2 12" Q's or 1 15" BL be louder?? or is it possible for that to move a BTL a sufficient amount?? and also could you tell me what options to go with please and finally if i get a duel 1 ohm, does that mean the amp sees it at .5 or 1 ohm? and the duel 2 at 1 or 2?

  7. Hey guys, I am new to these forums and new to Fi. What i was looking at over the past 2 weeks is that in order to power these subs, you need to require a) cash b) automotive parts c) More parts Lets just stick with b), Now i was looking at some of the earlier posts, alot of them were for the Iraggi Alternators. I myself have a 95 Honda accord. I Like it. I obviously need a new alternator if i am going to get myself 2 Fi subs. Everyone is going for the Iraggi Alternators. I myself can't find one anywheres on the internet. I checked eBay and all they have is 60amp. I am pretty sure 60 amp wont compare to a 2500w amp. So i came to the professionals, you guys, for some ad…

Hey so i want to tune my box to 32 hz. but i am confused on how this whole box design works. The previous systems that i have had i just bought boxes, but this time i want to build my own. I drive a jeep cherokee so I have plenty of room in the back end for a big box. 1 12" Fi Btl sub. Dual 2 ohm, fully loaded. Brand new. (I have not purchased it yet, but when I do, this is what I am going to buy) Wheel well to wheel well is about 42 inches. Back seat to back door is about 25 inches due to my seat coming out at an angle. (I lose about 8 inches) The floor of the back end to the roof is about 38 inches. The floor to the top of my backseat is about 18.5 inches. Here are some…

I am looking to build a slot port box very similar to the threads that are very recent in the forum. My dimensions are slightly different and I want to flare the port walls which will complicate things. My dimensions are: height: 14" width: 30" depth: variable tuning freq: 32 hz box volume: 2.3 cu ft subwoofer: FI Q12 Dual 2 amp: Soundstream PCA1500D Like I said I would like to flare the vent sides by cutting slits in the MDF and bending it. I have made some test bends and they seem to work out pretty well. I have read that adding the flares will require an additional 1-2" of port length. I can add the additional length that is required for the flared p…

this is the size of box i want to build: 16tall x 40wide x 28deep, there is an internal volume amount of 8.11 cu ft. after you account for the entire top being double baffled... subs up, port back (in the middle). i came up with a port, 13.75tall x 8wide x 23.5deep for a tuning of 32hz using this program: http://www.carstereo.com/help/Articles.cfm?id=31 i used the "Calculate Your Vent Length" section to come up with that port. it asks what tuning frequency you desire but there is not a place to enter how many or what size drivers you are using. is that port good for four 12"s?

I recently purchased a 12" Q series sub. I am installing it in a ported enclosure and I am curious to the size and tuning. After purchasing the sub I found a deal too good to pass up on an amp that is a little underpowered for the Q. It is a kicker zx750.1. It puts out between 800-900 watts rms. I see on the pinned topic at the top the recommended ported enclosure is 1.8-2.5@ 28-33hz. With 12-16 square inches of port volume. My question is should I change the box size or port area since the speaker will not be driven at full rms power? I want to get as much out of the speaker as I can with the power I have available. I thought I would ask on here instead of calling seeing…

Ok so Fi recommends 2-2.6 cf for a sealed 15 Q. The Khaotik sealed 15 box comes in at 2.769 cf. So will I be ok to run a slightly bigger box or will I run into any problems. Cus that really doesn't seem like that much of a difference to me but just wanted to check. Thanks.

  15. i am looking to get some ssq subs whether their 12 or 15's i dont know yet. i want to get the amp first then the subs. i cant stand when people do it the other way around. i was looking at the alphasonik pma 1200da. the amp is 1500 watts @4 ohms, 2000 watts @2 ohms and 3000 watts @1 ohm. ive heard people say these are good amps but i want to know if the wattage is true. or even if they are crap. i would run the the 2 dual 2 ohm subs parallel to one ohm then series em to make 2 ohms combined. at 1600 watts rms for the two i would be giving them 2000 watts with the amp at 2 ohms. is it smart to purchase this amp or should i search around. can some one help me? or give advi…

I'm Looking At Building A Ported 8 Cubic Foot Box For The SSD 18. Someone Couldn't Help Me With The Dimensions And Port Size, Could They? I'd Seriously Like...Appreciate It. Also Specs For A Square Port Or A Slot Port, And How You Make A Square One. I Suppose Its Just A Hole In The Box Panel? The Sub Is Firing Up, Port Firing Back.

When I took out my subs I found a brownish materials on the sub terminals. Upon inspecting, I suspect the glue from the cone to the surround is melting. Is there any reason to it? Also would any glue which is strong enough would fix this. I plan to use the 10 minuted epoxy as its avaiable in anywhere in my please compared to the CA glue or the original glue that was used. Would the epoxy do its job without affecting any performance? thanks

Ok, so I was wondering. A 12 in it's largest recommended enclosure, or a 15 in its smallest recommended enclosure, which has the more potential to get louder? Playing around with ideas here. Thanks, ~Trevor

I have a guy waning to buy my SP4 so im considering an upgrade. the low end bass of the 29hz box has grown on me and i want it louder. my thought was to keep my 8.2 cubic box that i have my SP4 in and use that for a Team 18. I currently run a single KX2500.1 (2005 model) for my SP4. I was thinking of setting it up with a second KX2500.1 and buying a dual 2 ohm T18. then running 1 amp per coil, throwing my factory alt back into my truck and bracketing my mechman next to it. taking my 3 AGM G49's and isolating them along with the mechman into a dedicated power plant for the stereo and letting my factory alt handle my normal vehicle needs with a couple cheap lead acid batter…

  25. I have a company to build my box, but I am not feeling very comfortable with what they are capable of. So, I want to show up with ideal measurements in hand and make sure they don't make a mistake. I have a 15 inch BL fully loaded dual 2 and will be running 1000w RMS to it. I need to build the box into the spare tire well and up a bit. I want to know where I should fire the port and roughly how many sqft I need and how to configure the port. Currently, I have a sealed box firing straight up. Its okay, but not great. The sub will be at he very back of the trunk, should I fire the port at an angle towards the rear window with the sub firing up?
