My friend and I are starting to build a system for his 2004 Tahoe. We are running 4 sp4 18s. We was wondering what kind of air space and tuning we should run. The amp we are using is an American Bass VFL1100.1. Your help is appreciated.

Hello, I am new to the forum. I just purchased 4 Fi X12's on sale from Fi. I was wondering what kind of box I should use with them. I would like ported for more air movement. The Fi website does not have any recommendations for the sub besides the size of the box. "sealed= 0.9-1.3 Ported=1.6-2.2" cubic ft. I was looking for some kind of calculator for port size and what frequency would be good with these subs. They are going in a 1990 GMC Sierra ext cab w/removed back seat. they will be in a straight line. Should I enclose each separately or all in one enclosure with one port? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  3. I've had a Fi Q 12" for several years now... I think I got it in 2008, maybe 2009, but it was before they changed some of the options available. At the time there weren't many options and I went with the most basic setup available. Basically, I've had to reduce my trunk space consumption by moving my audio gear (wife and I had a baby in September!). Last summer I managed to move my Kicker ZX200.2 amp which is powering my front speakers (Eclipse SC6500 6.5" components with passive crossovers) and attach it to an accessible metal panel in my trunk, and I actually completely removed my Fi Q 12" in a 1.25cuft (gross, not net) box, and my Kicker ZX750.1 amp that Kicker rated…

Alright so I am trying to build a box for a Fi Car audio Q 12" woofer. They recommend I build a box using 1.8-2.5 cubic feet @ 28-33Hz (32hz tuning is optimal, and has the most output and is still the most musical daily driving), and to use 12-16 square inches of vent area per cubic foot of volume. I am talking to Chris at fishercustoms, and he is helping me design a box. I was using the RE Enclosure Calculator, and I'm not sure what he uses. I gave him my max specs, 23" long x 15.5" wide x 16" high, and he came up with: 1.8 cu ft, 33 hz, 1.74" x 14" port ( 13.53 sq in vent area per cu ft) When i put those dimensions into the RE ported enclosure Calculator, i got: 2.068 c…

    (1) sp4 18 vs (2) bl 15's Going to be run most likely by a hifonics Brutus 2400.1 amp with custom box. Will be used as a daily driver and I listen to mostly rap I'm just curious to hear some input. It's going to be in a Toyota camry so a closed trunk if that makes any difference to anyone. Thanks

  10. I just received my fully loaded 12" Q with high qts option. Was wondering if anyone has been trying or testing sealed enclosures and has some recommendations/tips? I love lows. Had an 18" Q tuned to 28hz for a while but the box is just far too large and heavy for me. Im thinking of building it 1.5-1.75cuft while empty and putting some poly fill against the inner walls... not sure how the box size is affecting the woofer's output exactly.

i have the fully loaded btl, in jus 6 3^4 cu ft box tuned to 34.78 and theres no doubt about it being loud, and rumbling things BUT i am not able to do a hair trick. there is very little air being moved around. is this normal? or is the box to close to the hatch, and not getting enough air? my brother has the 9515g and we put his box n sub in my ride and it moved air like crazy, but the btl isnt move any. any ideas why?

I've built boxes for at least 15 years. But, i've never built a ported box like this. This box is gonna be 31.18 cubic ft 52 in wide x 37 in tall x 28 in deep. Trying to figure out how to fit all the subs and where to put the port. My guesstimations on the port size would be 15 in x 20 in and port length would be 8.13394050 ??????????I put the width and height in on a port calculator and it comes up with this length. What is that? I don't understand the length part. Don't even know if I can make a port hole that size with those subs in there. I was thinking of slotting the port either at top and bottom or on the sides. Sides would be better i'd have more room. I've ne…

I know that Fi recommends ported for BL's, but for space reasons, I'm wondering if I could do a BL in a sealed box with one of TCSounds PRs (passive radiator). This will be running off an USAmps 4000DE (1600wrms). For space reasons, my plan was to go with a 12" BL in a sealed 2.5cf box, with a TCSounds 15" PR (or VMP as they call it) http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=293-682 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passive_radiator_(speaker) For those too lazy to click on the PR link "Passive radiators are used instead of a reflex port for much the same reasons—to tune the small volume and driver for better low frequency performance. Especially in situations i…

Im going to try and be brief.. since I'm at work. (One of the very few sites I have access to!) I used WinISD to play with output numbers. Of those, I valued port velocity::frequency ratio. And I tried to configure a flat response bandwidth while keeping my desired tuniing @ 29hz. Quick specs: 1. Its a trunk build ( 4 door camry) 2. substage amp VFL 150.1 3. Rear firing design // 15" SP4 with electrical to boot. 306A - 274A alt (Hot). 306A Peak (cold) . 178A Hot @ idle I can post more details on Port volume later, I left the last dimension of port length at home. But what your seeing is port depth 17.25, height 15.5, length is somewhere between 26.xx to 28.xx. I cant …

Hey everybody, I have two 12" Fi SSD Dual 1-ohm subs(copper coil option only) in a ported enclosure being pushed by a Hifonics Bxi-2608D. Last week, one of the subs completely stopped working. No noise at all. I took both of the subwoofers out and tried swapping them to the other sides. Still, the same subwoofer doesn't work when wired to the other subs wiring. So that tells me that it's a problem with the sub itself, not the amp. When I push in on the sub, there is no grinding or anything of the sort. It's identical to the working subwoofer. Everything looks fine physically. So I tried hooking it up to a multimeter. One of the voice coils reads 1.1ohms, the other gives…

But I was wanting to do two square ports on the lower corners of my box that i'm going to be making and the thing I was curious about was how to add up the separate ports on torres. if I wanted two 8x8 squares would that be what I put in and add the total length or would you put it in as one 16x16 since that is the combined port area
