2004 Monte Carlo a pair of 18" fully loaded BTL's a pair of Power Acoustik A3000D amps one lonely termlab 500 pounds of wall... 153.6 @42 hz windshield 152.5 @38 hz MECA reality stand 151.8 @30 hz winshield ...and just for Meade... 150.6 @27 hz all in all these subs are very impressive and tough. the monte carlo lacked a lot of the needed airspace to make this setup do the 155 i was projecting but a little added wattage will fix that issue (BTL's like power and dont be afraid to give it to them). innitially there was some metering issues getting the car to go over a 150 which is the main topic of my post. 40…

Will 2-18'' BTL's be happy with 2000 watts per sub? And will they play with 2000 watts each or do I need to put 4000 watts per sub? Need to smoke 2-13" w7's. Can 2000 watts per sub do it???

I'm going to run 2-18'' BTL's each in there own box with 2500 watts to each sub. I would like to know if 6 cubes each would be good for the power that i'm running or should the box be bigger to reach full xmax? And do you have to add the ports size to the size of the box or not? I know you add the sub displacement to the box so do you add the ports to??? Want to run 2-6'' Precision Ports pre sub tuned @32hz. Does this sound like it would work? Want LOUD DEEEEEEEEEP BASS. And what is the disp. of a fully load BTL? Any help would be great.

  5. Currently I'm using the 9 cube @ 32hz after displacement feeding it about 1.1kw rms and it sounds pretty good but I was wondering would I gain anything from going with a smaller box (7.7 @ 35hz~). IE: would I feel the bass a bit more? would it bit any louder? The only real thing I know about having such a huge box tuned at 32hz is the lows it will pound, other than that I'm a noob when it comes to the dif sizes... Fi GURUS, once again I need your help!

I was wondering what would be good to run either the 18" btl n3 or n2, i have the previous style btls which is still are awesome daily subwoofers @ 35hz for me, but i want to move up a little. Is the n3 a good daily subwoofer, and with the option of 5-7 spiders what would that alter, would the normal 5 spider be a better daily/music sub? if someone could answer that for me that be awesome. or is the N2 recommended because i see on smd that the n3 is more of a spl sub, the fs is 51 on n3 , and 34 on a n2. does that mean my box tuning will have too change or no? overall i just want to know if purchasing 2 N3's would be alright for daily purposes/ someday competition with …

This is my setup: A US Acoustics USB-2150 rated for 450 watts x 1 @ 4 ohms powering an 18" Fi Audio IB3 at 4 ohms. I have a seemingly solid install now, but my score has stayed the same, 132 and change on both the termlab and my spl labs lcd bass meter. Check out my build HERE. I decided to test the output of one of my sub amps. I tested with tones from 25hz to 65hz. I checked the AC voltage output of the amp. Simultaneously I checked the output amperage to the sub at the positive wire to the sub. With these numbers I calculated the wattage by multiplying the volts times the amps. I also calculated the impedance by dividing the voltage by amperage. This is what I got 25Hz…

Will tuning to 35hz be good for daily driving? Alot of people say that tuning is a little to high for a btl. What do you think?

Hi, I'm for sure a newbie, especially when making boxes, I just ordered my first Fi product ever, the 18" SSD, and i'm super excited. Probably to excited to be honest but I have a question about my box. I used RE's box calculator and tried to make it fit perfectly in my vehicle, I wanted the box tuned to 30 hz and I did all that. The thing that I'm worried about is if my sub is going to move to easily and I'll end up damaging my woofer D: The box size is 5.6 cubic feet and tuned to ~30.7Hz. The port is 3" wide and 22.5" tall, and its a slot port. The port area is 67.5 square inches I can give all exact dimensions if needed. Thanks in advance!

Before you tell me to look at the sticky, let me explain. I looked at the sticky and it said that the a cut list and more in depth enclosure recommendations would be available soon, and that was a long while ago. If anyone has experimented A LOT with the 18 SSD please explain it to me. How much port area, size, tuning, wattage, sub and port placement, and pictures if possible. I really would appreciate anything you can give me.

Hello, I'm lookin at getting an 18" BL, but my major problem is that my trunk is too short to fit an 18" sub in facing the rear of the car. So I came up with a slightly angled design that would shorten it by a couple of inches. My question, however, is if the basket of the sub will hit the bottom of the box at any part, since the sub is sitting at an angle. I drew up a diagram in Paint of the exact lengths and angles. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I was wondering if my 4 gauge knukonceptz kolossus fleks amp kit would suffice for this amount of power. I am going to be running it at 1 ohm. I would appreciate the help.

So i only have like ~180 watts from the back two channels on my amp it is a JL J2 320.4. Im on a budget like mad here unfortunately and that amp was $99 not seeing anything else for that kinda money recently. So i snatched it up. I am running the front two channels on boston acoustic rallye series 5.25 co-ax, the back two channels will be bridged to a subwoofer that amp will do 60x4 at 4ohm 80x4 at 2 ohm. Ive read they are a tad bit underated so 160-180 watts is all i can expect. If i buy and X will that be enough amp sealed? I dont really think i wanna get a ported box right now. Ive not had bass for 3 years+ so im kinda starting out very slow but quality cause i …

  22. I am getting one 10" Fi SSD sub-woofer very soon and I am having a bit of trouble on what to do for the enclosure. I drive a small, 1998 Ford Pickup, single cab. I am convinced, and determined, that it is possible to put a sub in any vehicle, but there really is very limited space back there to put anything. Does anyone have any experience or suggestions? I am looking for the best sound I can get, but I understand if it won't be optimal. Getting the materials and building it will be no problem, just need to know how to tackle this.

I should be getting my new ssd 12 soon and a alpine amp that pushes 1krms at 2 ohms. I was wondering if the sub will handle 1k without any problems. I usually dont have my radio blasting 24/7 (but like to show off for a song or two) and most of the time im listening to rock/metal. It will be in a sealed box and i got no options on it but Hqts. So the real question is can i run the amp all the way up (gains set correctly) or should i run about 3/4 level. Thanks for the help.

i only have about 2.0 to 2.2 cubic foot to work with before sub displacement and port displacement. i know the 12 calls for 1.8 to 2.5 before displacement so i was wondering if it would be better for me to run 2 10's sealed and be more efficient instead of trying to squeeze in the 12 ported edit: sorry i hate this computer i meant 2 10 sealed or 1 12 ported sorry . . .

I currenty have thhe two subs in a 4th order blowthrough off of a 4500d on 16 volts. Gains were set around 1/2 way and it pounded for bout 4 days. Then I decided to turn it up a little. Between 1/2 and 3/4. Now the subs don't seem near as loud to me..could it be I'm just gettinng used to them? I'm gonna check with the dmm tomorrow and read the coils and see how many watts the amp is putting out...I hope I didn't mess anything up:(
