does my 1997 4 door bravada (exact same as 4 door blazer) have enough space for 2 18" BTLs? or would i be better off going with 1 18"? either route i go i will have 2kw rms to EACH woofer... my max dimensions are 48w 30d and 20h.. going ported if it is only enough space for 1.. does anyone think 2 12" BTLs will be louder than 1 18"??? sorry for all the questions.. they may seem pretty dumb but i want to be sure about what im doing BTW I'm looking for a pretty good SPL but i want to retain SQ for daily listening right now i am running 2 MTX T9512-44s on 2.4kw @1ohm, in 4.5 cubes each ported tuned to 35hz, i would like to have about the same SQ as these if any one has h…

  4. Hey guys, After putting my 15" BL together in a 3.5cuft box, which sounds awesome, now I just have to fix my amp problems. Anyways, I have to build a box for a friend for her 15" Q. I suggested sealed since she wants to do more stuff in the trunk and I didn't want to take up the whole trunk like my box! We both have Scion tC. I was thinking a box for the 15" Q sealed with the exterior dimension of 12" high x 32" wide x 16" deep, with 3/4" wood. That will give an interior volume of 2.69cuft w/o sub displacement, so with the sub it is 2.5cuft. The sub will be powered by a Kicker sx1250.1 amp, that amp supposedly gives out 1250 watts at 1 ohm. So with that given se…

when people talk about tuning their ports to 33HZ and stuff is that based on the size of the port. Also could i run 2 12" SSD subs on a hifonics amp putttin out 1500RMS or should i get one that puts out 2000RMS.

Any reason my first SSD with D1 copper coils suspension is way looser than my newer one which is about a month older? I know there would be a difference because of the break in period and that eventually the new one would soften up slightly to sit like the old one but the newer one has a firmer suspension as oppose my old one and worries me that it may be a possible problem with my old sub. I got the first sub in february and the second one in march and have beating on them since day one but the second seems to have a better suspension than the old one? Please let me know what the deal is?

So, after much nagging, my old lady talked me out of doing the pacman design with 4 15" BTL's in the bed of my truck cause it would take up every inch. So, will I be able to put 3 15's straight across the bed of my truck so that I have a little room to put stuff towards the end of the bed in my truck. Or will I have to go with two BTL's. 6'6" front to back 5'3" wide 4'1" wide between wheel wells 1'10" from one end to the wheel well 1'8.5" from other end to wheel well These are some dimensions I got from one of those custom fit rubber mats for the bed of this truck. I think the bed is about 21" deep. LOL, my old lady thanks you..........

so Im trying something new with my truck, I have an ext cab s-10 with a hole in the back...a big one... I can fit 2 12'ss, have about 8 cubes to work with(preferably a little less), and 3000 watts of power. I really want to give fi a try after having some trouble with my previous subs. Im lost as to which to go for the BL SSD or the Q, all seem to be a good choice to me for my application. Im going to go ported for sure, around 35hz. First in foremost i want loud music, It doesnt have to be the most accurate, but i dont want it to sound like a fart iether. So, can you guys help feed my addiction?

Why does the FI Q have 27mm xmax and the BL only 21. Does this increase with options like the BTL? I'm sure the numbers are correct. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Trying to research which subs to use for my application. 418s in a single reflex bandpass. I heard lil johns 1612s ssd's and they were very smooth. I've been leaning towards the BL's myself but cannot for 1 second knock the SSD's. just a little confused on the Q's Xmax being the most in the lineup. Thanks again - Joe Rod

Here is my problem. For quite some time I planned on putting 4 15" BTL's in the bed of my truck, forward facing. I have a fiberglass lid, not a camper shell, so no wall. I know they need to be ported, at least I want them to be. Is there anyway to put the 4 15's in there or will I have to go to either 3 15's or 4 12's. Out of those two, which will be louder and hit harder. I was thinkin the 12's, esp in the box is right. I will be correctly powering each sub, so power is not the issue here. So, what do you think bout my situation and any ideas??????? THANKS

I just added the D1 copper coils to the SSD series. Previously the copper coils were available only in D2. The addition of the copper coils to the SSD subs adds a bit more SQ in some applications. It also allows the subs to play deeper in the same sized enclosures as the standard aluminum coiled SSDs, or have the same response curves in slightly smaller enclosures. Thanks... Scott

  22. I am getting some 15" btls. I was curious about how I should get it made. I know I want the p-chamber. I read that if you get the 3rd magnet with no cooling option, this is better for SPL. So, what happens if you get 3rd magnet with the cooling option. This is going to be a daily driver with, hopefully tons of SPL, but I don't want to kill the sub and replace it or fix it consistently. So, which option with these should I go with?

  23. Which would be louder? (Daily) 1. (2) fully loaded BL15s with about 3.2ft3 and 50sq" of port "each" tuned to 33Hz..... with a Hifonics Collosus (3200rms x 1@2ohm) so that would be about 1600rms each. or 2. (1) Fully loaded BTL18 with about 7ft3 and 120sq" of port tuned to 33Hz......pushed off of a Hifonics Collosus also. Going in a 2dr Explorer Sport

I am very curious on this one. About how tall would a box have to be to fit a 18" BTL forward facing in it. I am curious cause I wonder if I can get it in the bed of my truck or not. I don't think I can, but am curious none-the-less. Thanks

this is the size of box i want to build: 16tall x 40wide x 28deep, there is an internal volume amount of 8.11 cu ft. after you account for the entire top being double baffled... subs up, port back (in the middle). i came up with a port, 13.75tall x 8wide x 23.5deep for a tuning of 32hz using this program: http://www.carstereo.com/help/Articles.cfm?id=31 i used the "Calculate Your Vent Length" section to come up with that port. it asks what tuning frequency you desire but there is not a place to enter how many or what size drivers you are using. is that port good for four 12"s?
