Hey guys just had a question on what this might be. Me and sencheezy finally finished tuning the amp and getting everything installed correctly. I've got 2 12' dual 4 ohm Dcons wired at 1 ohm on a 15001d audiopipe amp. Today we heard a popping noise coming out of only one sub at higher volume. The other sounded just fine. Any ideas on what might be causing it? Almost positive it is not blown.

The prototype is in flight right now after being assembled and is scheduled to arrive at our facility tomorrow. The reps and I have known about the arrival for a few days but I'm posting this now to let you all know when the proto is scheduled to arrive. I'll take pictures and get them posted by this weekend. This weekend will also be the initial testing of the new Mag, and it's going to be a tough test! We're going to position the new Mag against the old/current Mag and our testing will be published complete with numbers of the comparission. Anyway, the new Mag proto is coming soon!

Sorry for a long explanation (shorter one below long one), but this is potentially a great find for me, and I could really use some advice... long version: Today while perusing the world of Craigslist, hoping to stumbleupon a rare gem, I found a used 2005 RE XXX 15" in what looks to be a pretty decent box. After communication with the seller, and getting more pictures, I notice that there is some sort of blemish on the surround. Turns out it is something he referred to as "goop" which he put on the surround after it was "rubbed by his dogs bone". At first i was skeptical of the story but i could see the bone in one of the CL pics and the sub is down firing. So its believa…

2.6" deep 6.5" with 11.5mm one way 6.5" midbass/midrange good untill 7khz. The 4 ohm has an f3 of 53hz IB. .4-.7cuft suggested for kicks The 8 ohm extends to 40hz in a ported alignment 1.4 cuft tuned to 38hz. Or to 58hz in a ported alignment 0.6 cuft tuned to 50hz While this is a very exceptional midbass, the Omega is superior both in terms of midrange quality and output full range. This design was created since we realize not everyone can fit the omega... This mid also has a black paper cone Aluminum former (non hexy) Very high temp 10 layer coil (250C, 300C max wire with 600C adhesive) The Delta also comes in both a 4 and 8 ohm variety and is self shielded for use in h…

As most of you may know, the BM's are going ultra-shallow! Ultra-shallow being 3.5" for a 12" model. The new BM will be offered in a 12" only with dual 4 Ohm coils. Enclosure sizes are 0.75 cubes sealed and 1.5 cubes ported. Power handling will be 500 watts RMS. That's all the information I'll let out for now, but here is a picture of the basket we are going to use (and before anyone asks, this may or may not be the color of the basket )

I'm looking for suggestions for a single 10" sub for a sealed box. I have a 700w rms amp @ 2 ohms that will be powering it. I will build the box to specs. Budget is around $250 max I listen to all genres of music, and am really just looking for the loudest sub while still retaining decent SQ. Please don't suggest a ported box, I'm not interested in one.

There seems to be a lot of different recommendations for port area size for the sp4 anywhere from 120-160. For the box I recently built the specs, are 7 cubic ft tuned to 31hz with 150inches of port. The port is double baffled with 45s in the corners, ill post some pictures in a bit. How do you think a fully loaded Fi sp4 18 will do in this box? I haven't designed too many boxes so I hope it is completely right. Also to note ill be running it on a crescendo 3500.

I have an saz 1500 on tap and want the best SQ I can get out of it, and be able to play verry verry low deep bass with authority. I was thinking 18"s or so but the ICON is sooooo nice. I also thought about the last gen d2 mags, but a pair would be harder to find and I get confused with how I could wire them to not go lower than the 1 ohm load. What suggestions do you guys have? Any other ideas? It's going in an expedition 98 EB edition.

Well, I'm looking to painlessly install some stuff in my truck I don't feel like cutting and welding and I MUST retain all of my bed, so the only space available is behind the seat, I've done some research and the best value to me for my buck seems to be the JL 12TW3. I was looking at the Alpine Type Rs, but I'm not spending $600 for one driver. . . From Alpine. . . That's just absurd. Does anyone have any input or experience with any other brands?

I am a proud owner and representer off SSA line of subwoofers. I have owned the Icon and currently the Zcon, and have installed a pair of Dcons. All three sound great, the Icon being my favorite at the moment. The problem that I am encountering right now is the stress noise I am hearing on lower notes at higher volume. This first became apparent on the install of a local Dcon's. Where we began testing and preparing initial gain setting. His setup consisted of 2 12' Dcons on a single AP1500 in a sealed enclosure for his maxima. This "scratching" noise was only noticable in a subwoofer at higher volume on lower notes for only ONE subwoofer, while the other showed no signs o…

So I know, I know.... "no VS threads" .... Not totally sure whether this completely falls under that but here we go.... So, I've realized I made the wrong decision for tweeters in my car... LPG aluminum tweets .... Cannot be crossed lower than 4k and that is with lower power/lower volume.... 5k is much better.... This will not work for me anymore... I've learned that now and need to move onto something better for me... Currently using my Pioneer HU for active setup and going through a MB Quart 4.125 .... I am looking at these guys: Vifa NE25VTS-04 Morel CAT 378 I have been eyeballing the Vifa for quite some time now but not pulling the trigger just yet.... The Morel c…

Hi all, A friend of mine has just blown its XXX 18" for the second time ! He doesn't know why ! The first time, he knew he had a very small box with a slot port, and he did not know the tuning of the box. He was playinf at full tilt with no ssf on ! Amp is a MTX te 4000. He has several batteries, and the big 3 done, now. I ordered a recone kit for him from PAP. They sent a kit for a 15" sub, and then the right one. (So I have free kit at home, looking for a sub !). After a few weeks, he was really satisfied, but on the 21st this month (it was music day in France) he told me he blown it again. This time the wire that runs on the spider has gone into smoke. The sub is a DVC…

I have heard a million times that running one voice coil on a sub with multiple coils is wrong. I read an article by Adire Audio years ago and they actually suggested running on one voice coil in certain situations. I also remember that running one VC while "shorting" out the second VC would change woofer characteristics, I believe it raises QTS if I remember correctly. I understand that it would basically halve the power handling of the sub. What else does it do? The article also says something about a sub with 300 watts wasting 298 watts as heat, and only using around 2 as musical energy. Are speakers really, that inefficient? Here's the article if some of you want a g…

Hi. I am new here, and somewhat new to the whole car audio thing. I just got a 2001 Pontiac Gand AM GT, and was wondering what kind of speakers (not subwoofers) would fit and sound nice in it. There is just one blown speaker (rear right), and I need it fixed soon so I can start installing my system. Any suggestions? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Well im looking for a new sub(s) and the two im looking at right now are a 12" BTL dual2 off 2300 watts or two Fi Q's off 1100 a piece i have around 3.5 cubes that i can still be comfortable in the truck I can go up to 6, but im trying to get something smaller so i have room i have around $400 to play with, I am basically wondering what would be my best alternative. I am fairly used to my tc-3000 in 3.5 cubes off 1000 watts, how would both of those compare in SQ and output? I hear really mixed things about the BTL how bad is the SQ? I would get the HiXM coil and third mag, possibly cooling. This is in an ex cab s10 with a pretty stout electrical (3 batts four runs of 2 ga…

Hey guys, driving home tonight listening to my music normally @ around volume 22/60 The song "on my level" my wiz Khalifa played and it's probably one of my hardest hitting songs on my CD. I turned it up to 25/60 about a minute and a half into the song I'm at the red light and my sub was making a terrible noise! Like it was bottoming out. So I immediately turned my music down. When I got home I checked it out, everything seemed fine.. So I tried a little demo this time playing "Late Night Tip" by three 6 mafia and when the bass hit the sub was overflexing and "bottoming out" this time volume was only @ 21. I checked amps gains wires and batteries and everything was fine..…

I need some advise for a friend, somewhat new to the car audio scene, with a decent amount of money... For about 300 bucks, he can get a kicker L7 15in sub. For the same price, he could get a Fi Q or a Fi BL (both also 15 inch subs) they will be recieving about 800-1000wrms. Any sugestions on which would be the best. He is more of a SPL guy (thats why he is leaning towards kicker) but still wants to get a somewhat decent sq from the settup? He listens to mainly rock and metal,(metallica to All that Remains to three days grace). the box will be custom made, probably tuned to 32ish hz. No shops around here carry kicker so we have never heard any of the three. Any suggestio…

So I was thinking about it today and I hear a lot of mixed opinions on subwoofer size and its benefits regarding sound quality and SPL. I'd like to here everyone's say on this one between a 10 a 12 and a 15 what are the main advantages or disadvantages of each of these as well as say 2 10s vs. 1 12 or 2 12s vs. 1 15 or even 2 or more 10s vs. a 15. what would you gain vs. what would you lose. As much details and actual real world evidence as possible. Lookin forward to hearing some good responses. Have at it. Also you could vote for your favorite setup above.

Ok so I see a lot of conflicting answers regarding a small box if you plan on over powering your sub. Be believe in it, others say it's a lie. My question is if you're gonna over power a sub. What would be considered smaller ? I'm thinking about 2 15s. They call for 3-4 ft3 but I'm thinking of putting them in a 5 ft3 box. After displacement and port. Im looking into the sp4v2 and putting them on a hd8k. I know they are underrated. And the taramps is over the rms slightly. So I wa wondering if this will work out well. The reason why I'm asking is because I don't wanna sacrifice more space for my box. And seeing how the 8k is more than enough for the subs, I …

Hey guys, I am maybe looking at doing a Diy component set using the Mli-65 Mach speakers. Right now I currently have 5 1/4inch Alpine type S speakers in Q-logic kickpanels becuase my car is a 94 cavalier which only supports 3 1/2 speakers, so I bought the kicks instead, With that being said I was wondering if there is any way I could make A wooden baffle so that I could mount 6.5inch mids in the kicks? Also how would the Mli-65's work in a Diy component set? I was thinking something like Wiring the Mli-65's directly to an amp, then from the mli-65's run a inline bass blocker to the tweeters do you think that will work okay or am I better off buying a inline crossover? I …
