I'm expanding my research here so i can get the pros and cons of different equipment. In an earlier thread, Dave Brooks and other suggested i use HLCDs with 4Kw of bass so i don't drown out the stock tweeters that wouldnt be there by that time anyway. Anyway, i came across another gadget, a Horn Loaded tweeter with specs as good, if not Better than Image Dynamics HLCDs. These tweeters cost a little less, but i have questions on the technology in general, not really the product itself. Here is info - http://www.cadencestore.com/ProductCart/pc...p;idproduct=363 Efficiency - 107Db @1W/1M 50wrms I tried to find some research on them and i found a little but do not know if i…

hi, today i heard some horns because i wanted to see how loud they really are compared to normal speakers and i didn't think they sounded that bad it was just that they lacked midbass so i was wondering would it sound weird to have a horn and a midbass driver for a front stage and have normal speakers in the back( componots [i don't need to know that having rear speaker messes up imaging because i already know plus i already made holes for current speakers in my rear deck cover for the tweeters])

I was wondering if you guys could educate me on the topic of horns in the car audio environment. I am looking into incorporating them into my truck (S-10) when I start working on the front stage, most likely with some Dayton Reference or AA 6.5's in kicks. What I would like to know is the basics on horn install in a car, what to look for, if you can go passive, or active is a must, the basics of an active install, what kind of equipment is the best, stuff like that. Any info that can be provided would be awsome -Thanks

So how about it Mach 5? Why not take the current IXL motor structure from the 10 and 12 and use it to make an 8 inch version? I think it would be awesome and if priced as the IXL 10 and 12 they would be very competitive... I'd order a few, with the same motor as the 10 it would be one very very beefy sub :bigclap: It seems these days more and more are looking to drivers in a smaller size which can be seen in Soundsplinters sucess with their 8. Mach 5 should cptialise on this market Anyway... PLEASE

Just wondering how the soundqubed HDS315's hold up. I'm thinkin about running 4 of them in my 96 Tahoe. The box I'm planning to use is 48x44x15, port is 13.5h x 13w x 20l for a 32.42 hz tuning at 14.61 sq in per cube of port final volume is 12.01 cubes. Haven't decide what amp or amps I want to use yet, any suggestions under $1000?

  12. alright, system consists of pioneer premier DEH-600UB, hifonics BXi1208D pushing 3 ppi PCX102's in 3.5 cubes at 35Hz (when I build the box, lol), no rear speakers I am going to get a small 2ch amp for the front speakers and disable the internal amp in the HU, but if I buy comps, the doors will not be deadened right away, and will probably only be some ~75 dollar comps like some alpine type s, phoenix gold, etc... and the amp will only be giving them anywhere from 60-100 watts per channel at 4 ohms. coax's would be mounted in doors as would the midbass and tweets would go on the door panels right by the dash. should I just get coax's and amp them right away? get comps an…

  14. Hi all, I have a BTL n2 12" actually, and I love it. but I want more now ! I was thinking of reconing it to a 15" sub. Can you tell me what I need to buy from Fi, of course ? Recone kit, basket ? Is it hard to do ? Can I find a tutorial here or elsewhere (I'll try Google !). I won't do it myself as I am not very familiar with speaker recones and tools, and ...anything !!! a friend of mine will do it, but I want to know some things before. I already have a design for a good box. It must be around 3-3.5 ft3 net @ 32 Hz ! Thanks in advance for your help.

I bought a 2004 Dodge ram 2500 quadcab back in mid 2005, finally a few weeks ago it arrived in Norway.. not bad waiting 5-6months for your car? so now its' here and I'm happy. due to norwegian laws I have to pay a tax to use the backseats.. so can you say loads of room for subs? been surfing to and from trying misc sites and forums which subs to get, but all the norwegian ones are infected with dealers trying to push their stuff and nobody has ever testet anything it seems. after surfing around it still seems SI holds it own against JL and RE (forum rumours eh) now the hard part.. SI is even more mysterious than RE, at least SI has MSRP up, but where can you actually g…

  18. If the human ear is unable to detect the direction ot true mid bass (below 250 hz), why not run a single 8" woofer in the rear deck of my challenger to compliment the 6 1/2' component set up front and 12" sub in the trunk? I bought a 5 channel Boston GTA amp super cheap and could car less about rear fill, but would like better mid bass response. Please tell me why I'm crazy. p.s.There is no way in hell my wife would ever let me chop up the doors to put a pair of 8"s there, and I am not running active.

  19. Yea, Ive already checked the SI website and saw the address to send my money to, but I was wondering if there was a way to pay for one of these with PayPal, or if sending my check off was the only way. Do I need to write Nick an email before I send the check so that he is expecting it, or should I just go ahead and send it with my contact information (email, phone, address....anything else needed besides naming the item I am buying?)? If I can pay with PayPal, what is the PayPal address that I should send the money to? Are there additional charges for using PayPal? I sent an email to Nick asking pretty much these same questions yesterday, but never got a response. No doub…
