I think I'd like to tune it to 30 hz. I want to make a double kerfed slotted box with all 45 degree angles inside. whats the displacement of a 12'' DC lvl 4? what should the diameter of the port be? This is going to be the first box I've ever built any tips will be greatly appreciated!

What to look for when purchasing a SPL only subwoofer?

Hello all. While at first this will certainly seem to be just another "what sub is better" thread, I am indeed seeking the advice of those familar with the possibility spelled out in the thread title. My goals are: 1). Sound quality for multiple genres. 2). Lowest possible frequency response, whether ported and tuned low or sealed in a large dual chamber enclosure. 3). Adequate SPL, albeit valued below sound quality. 4). Would a single 1000 watt subwoofer circumvent and/or surpass the supposed goals of dual 500 watt subwoofers, or would the contrary do so? I have a box for my fi btl 12" that is 2.7 cubic feet, and tunned at 34 hertz. . it sounds great best 12 i have evr heard. but i am looking to enetr a comp. soon and was wondering is there was any specs for making an spl box. or better yet some guide lines. like how many hertz should i tune to.

Which pair of subs would be better choice with a sundown saz 1500d in my case... 2 12" SSA Icons or 2 Sundown SA-12's.. just wondering if I am running 75 watts to a set of components, can I run speaker wire from the amp to the factory wiring or do I need to run wire all the way to the comps, not sure on the exact gauge, but its just whatever honda runs to their speakers, probably 18 ga at best? what size speaker wire do I need to run to them if I run the full length? 14?

I have been trying to wire up my subs. I have two Mach 5 Audio SPL12s hooked to a Audiopipe AP3000.1D. I am using 8 gauge wire to go from the amp to the subs. However I cannot get the wire to stay in these terminals. I put one 8 gauge wire in and tightened them all the way up and the wire still didn't really stay in there. So what I came up with is this: I took the nut off where the tinsel lead goes to the terminal, then put a length of 8 gauge with a ring connector on it. Will this cause any problems? I don't have both subs done yet, so it is not hard to revert. I find these terminals a pain in the ass! its sort of like what DD has done with their subs.

Hey all, a few questions before I buy one off Dave (troublestarter). 1. How will this sub sound in 3cuft tuned to 33hz ? 2. Will it sound good off 800wrms class a/b ? Is that enough power ? 3. Do they do them in D2 flavour ? Im looking for something that will do around 135db on a TL or better, but also great sq for my ambient electronica when I turn the subwoofer level down to around 3 on the P77MP. So basically a jack of all trades. I wanted a level 4 however I dont have enough power for one, and dont want to clip it or change to dirty class D power! Thanks

Anyone have experience with RE's SR/SRX lineup? Ready to order sub(s), but have come to a fork in the road: Multiple good subs vs one stronger sub of equal build quality. From what I've researched I could probably feed the SRX's 500w (<600w) a piece just fine; though they're 300rms rated. My thoughts: Wanted to stay under/around the $300 mark for the sub(s) and ~1kw of pow-a. Budget-"ish" build. Could have more cone area and better cooling w/ two subs on equal wattage. A single Q 18 seems loud and clear enough on it's own, from what I gather. I have no 150db targets or some ~ish not competing just knocking music. I smell it but my sub is still playing fine I'm just curious if it fucked my sub up at all? I got the cooling options on the btl so I should fine if I let it cool down for a few minutes?

I've been meaning to ask anyone on here if they can help me out with a noise problem with my speakers... It doesn't matter what speakers are hooked up to my amp, they start thumping rapidly when I have the engine off in my car and the key is in accessory. I turn up the volume from my head unit just to get some bass going and then when I reach a certain volume my speakers start thumping rapidly and it's not the music that's bumping because I'll play a slow song and then when I turn up the volume at a certain level where my speakers don't like it, they go crazy. Hey guys, Im looking to start a new build. Im looking for HARD hitting bass, but also the ability to play rock music well. I was originally set of AQ HDC3 18's, but came acros the IXL's. How would they compare. I live in Canada so buying froma canadian company would be nice. I plan to build a wall for whatever subs I go with behind the second row, with 3 8" aeros. Im getting 2 12 BL subs and the saz 1500d sundown. Now i may just be getting just one sub for now cause of some money issues but wil end up getting another 12, can i hook up just one sub for now to the saz 1500d amp or no? I do not know shit about this stuff. thanks

well i was playing some new tracks and then i opened my trunk and felt weird smell from woofer, it's playing great but there is some kind a smell, like glue is burning or something, and dust cap gets a little bit warm, am i pushing it too far ? I got 15" JBL rated 350W RMS running it @ 4ohms 500W RMS

my friend just bought 2 type r's. i recommended 2.5 cuft per sub but the alpine recommendations are 1.75. that seems very small to me for a 12". they are gonna be runnin off a aq1200d amp at 1 ohms. will they do fine in a 5 cuft box dual chamber tuned to 38hz?

well ive thought and debated and i think im leaning on re doing my subs and amps i have on re sx ten in the back with md1d right now think im gonna go two twelves or one 15 cant decide yet but its in a s10 2002 ext. wanna try and keep it under the window line but ill deal with box after that im looking to get about 1000 watts out of each sub or more so a total of 2000 watts or more if i can, ill match amp after i get subs i think its gonna be a d2 sub probably. this isnt a spl vehicle but i do like my bass to hit hard im gonna have the big three done by the time i get this new system im just looking for some inputs for now. ive thought about going re again i love my sx bu…
