Subwoofers / Speakers

Discuss Subwoofers And All Aspects Of Speakers here.

  1. Hi guys, I am considering doing an upgrade on my factory speakers. I have a Toyota Yaris Hatchback with a current setup of stock head unit, stock speakers, and a pioneer bass tube (The Pump TS-WX20LPA). I am not into SPL, rather a solid SQ which at least I can impress my friends with and which I can enjoy listening of course. I live in a small country and the choice of brands is rather limited and few shops let you listen to the speakers before actual installation. So I'm counting on you guys to help me in making a good choice Right now on top of my list are the Focal Access 165A or the Kicker KS. I also went to a shop which supplies Hertz (I heard they also make good c…

i have a little problem in choosing which sub and how many. right now my setup in a singer 250amp alternator 6 phase with a dc audio 3.5k and a single IA DR upgraded goodies 15d1 in a 3.27cubic box before sub displacement my question is which 1 10" weather it be the xcon or icon could handle the power from a dc audio 3.5k after break in time. and still have a little room to shine or im debating getting 2 10" or a single 12". my problem is idk what kind of power people are giving the subs before they get "toasty" and want to "send out smoke signals" thank you in advance for your help

First off this thing looks so much nicer in person than the website pics. it also has a ton of clearance for excursion, hopefully the pics show it. here are some box specs for those interested.... 10" .3ft has F3 of 42hz, .5ft has f3 of 35hz, .75 has f3 of 32hz and 1ft has f3 of 30hz. 12" .5ft has f3 of 45hz, .75ft has f3 of 38hz, 1.0 has f3 of 35hz, and 1.5ft has f3 of 31hz. some bandpass designs are included but once again in the manual it states that this sub is not for traditional ported boxes. Overall i'm very impressed with the build quality and i've grown to love the look of it. Hope to have a review up soon.

Ok heres whats on the table. Its either going to be a new FI sp4v2 18 or the beloved SSA evil 18. Sub would be dual 1 for coils. Ran on a synergy 35.1 at half ohm in a box thats 7.5 cubes tuned to 32hz. It is ran daily. Its played daily. Rarely sees full tilt unless its for demos. But im also going to start entering all the competitions i can locally and possibly slamology this year. Opinions what would net me a higher spl score between the two? If any difference at all. Sub one way or another will get ordered wednsday night so help a brother out!

  12. Hi I am trying to get more output from my coworker's car. He currently has a 04 F150 SuperCrew and is running 1 10" Cadence Mallet II 2ohms / Cadence Z1000 amp / Pioneer p4200ub. It currently sound nice but not enough bass at all. I am thinking about porting the box but don't where to start and what I should have it tuned to. Would this be a good idea to do? I currently have (2) RE SE 10's and have my 2.7cu box ported at 33hz and he likes the way it sounds with the low bass rolling. I don't know with his smaller box and the Cadence sub can do... Here are some specs on the box in his setup. Subwoofer fires down Box fits on driver's side under rear seat 5/8 inch MDF Air…

I have been scouring the net for a couple days, searching every form of the phrase "Subwoofer design software" and have found nothing but enclosure design programs and port length/size calculators. Anyone know of anything that would help me? Delving into the other side, designing and building my own subwoofer. I don't have the capability to press cones or mold baskets, nothing huge yet. But I'd like to choose my own magnets and construct a motor structure and my own voice coils. I would prefer a graphics-based type of program. And no point in telling me I can't pull this off.. maybe true but I'm the type that will try it anyway and eff with things until I'm defeated or I …

I am considering a different amp combination. Would a DLS A7 with 600 watts in 1 ohm, be enough to run a Gen 2 SI 12"? I only have 1 sub, but am considering running 2 A7's and get a second 12" sub. So how would 1 sub with 1000 watts compare to 2 subs with 600 watts each?

Im about to be getting my car and my system is going in ASAP. I know I want a D2, but I cant decide which size. I would like to have a 15 since it gets louder and lower and I mostly listen to rap music, but will the 4.5 cu ft box fit in my trunk ok? I am getting a 1990 BMW 325is so it has a decent sized trunk, but how big is it gonna be really? Anyone have any pics of that sized box? Also, do you think I REALLY need the 15? I plan on running 1100 watts to the sub. This will be my first system so I really don't know a whole lot about the actually sound of things, just word of mouth. Yes, I know I will have to wait on a 15, but if it will work better for me thats no big dea…

Ever since I popped my xcon I have been running a pair of JL 10W3 sealed. It's no flexing setup, but I have gotten them to blend pretty well with my front stage and it is highly enjoyable. I am contemplating replacing the useless tape deck/cd storage center console on my '02 tahoe with a SD-2 8 to take over for the JLs so I have the room in the rear for something bigger to shake things up when I want to. I'd have a switch to either sub amp to turn them on independently. I'm pretty eclectic in my music and bass level choices from day to day. Part of me thinks this is just a silly daydream as a bass knob would fill this roll, and the other part thinks it would be a fun proj…

I'm a total front stage noob. Literally. But, I'm really thinking of new things that I can do to my truck to improve its front stage. It doesn't particularly matter to me whether it is a component set or set of speakers that are to be run in an active setup. I happen to like airy and not harsh tweeters, a smooth midrange, and a strong midbass presence. I'm open to any and all suggestions. Thanks, Brandon

Alright, my car peaks at 55hz. I want to get a box made before the 7th. Just going to keep it simple. Port in the middle and lots of it. I'll be using the D6 12s still since recones are going to take a min. I'm going to keep the same configuration. Subs back port back. So...... What tuning to go with? 50ish or what? I'm at work so I can link specs for the diamonds. But if someone posts them, I'll be very happy. This will only be for burps and a temp box. If you want to throw a design in there, that's great too ;-) This is for a trunk car incase some of you didn't know lol.

so to my suprise my 12" d2 came in the mail today. It was scheduled to show up on tuesday. (Thank you FedEx!) anyways i wired it all up, my jbl 1200 at 4 ohms, so 600 watts, just to see how it does and play around with it. sealed box, 1.6 cubes after displacements. well wow, this sub is very very accurate. its so quick. and its suprisingly loud off just 600 watts. i cant wait till i wire my jbl up to 1200 watts which will be in a day or two. Pics will be up tonight as i dont know where my sister is and she has my cam. side note - i didnt hear any ticking noise for most music, but i played a bass song that plays low to high notes and it seemed i heard a kind of rattl…

I'm trying to decide if I should go with (2) 15" BTL's or (2) 18" BTL's? Its only about $60 more to go with both 18's over the 15's but i would be using the same rms going to them. what size sub would sound better/louder being they both are getting the same amount of power/rms? Pre-orderig a Sundown-SAZ 4500D
