  2. As far as sheer linear displacement (Xmax x Xmax x Sd) does anything have more Vd? I know there are some other very nice drivers such as the TCSounds drivers that have 38mm Xmax... what other drivers are in the same arena, if any, if not, whats closest?

SO... im trying to gat an idea of what im going to do for my setup in the wagon. I will be walling it off. As some of you know... I bought a new daily driver that I gotta get running. So this build will be after all that is done. I just want to get an idea of what I will be doing. my original idea was to go with 4zconsa on 4saz3ks. But I was thinking... would a bunch if Dcons get louder? My goal id obviously to get loud while sound good doing it...that's why im going with SSA. I was thinking of doing something like a clamshell if I do the icons. Maybe like 16 12's or 10's. Something like that. Maybe on 2 saz3500s. Just trying to get some opinions.

exactly what the title says. digital designs 9500 vs fi btl. who wins in an output competition? not who can take more wattage. which gets louder on a given amount of power? say 2k watts or something.

  7. Will playing 5hz below my enclosure frequency be harmful for my woofer? My enclosure is tuned to 33hz right now, but on a couple of songs the notes drop to 28hz. My SSF is at 0 (dont kill me!) and here is why: The other day I played with test tones from 27-35hz and tried to set my SSF to about 28hz... For some reason no matter how much I adjusted the SSF to only begin at 28hz, it would decrease my 30-33hz output as well... As of now I keep it at 0 and just be careful not to play anything below 33hz too loud. Not trying play 20hz notes or anything, just wanted to know if its harmful to play a few Hz below your tuning freq. Don't wanna kill my woofer! Thanks!

my coworker just got in some Xtants. they are 10" and he is running 150W off a JL 5 channel amp and they sound quite nice, clear, linear, and smooth. not as loud as i would like but quite musical. I am running my home computer sub in my truck off my Viper 2500.1D in my truck right now while i decide on new subs. it is far more musical and flat than my SP4 was and while - at the time - i wanted to have ultra low and super loud i feel i have experienced that and wish to build a much more musical system. the sub i have in my truck right now is this one, purchased when i was 16 and has been used for many years, it is in a 4.7 cubic box tuned to 35Hz and i want my new subs to…

I just brought a Re Audio Sx 10 being powered by a kicker 06zx1000.1 right now I have it in Mtx Bass Slammer Ported box 1.5cubic ft @ 38hz and the lows are missing to me, I found a custom built box that is 2.0cubic ft net volume tuned to 32Hz. But looking on reading the manual that came with the sub Re says a ported box between 1.0cubic ft @35hz to 1.25cubic ft @34hz. The Question I had is if i put this sub in a larger box thats tuned lower would it hurt the sub? the car its going in is a 4door hatch back.

Hello, I am new at this type of thing, but I want to put one, or maybe two subs into my minivan. It's a Chrysler 2002 Town and Country, and I was thinking about getting some JL Audio 10" W3v3's. The thing is, my dad doesn't want to have them in their all the time. So I was thinking that maybe I could use some banana clips to make them easily removable, but any other Ideas would work. Also I have a very small background concerning speakers or wiring or any of that stuff, like I said, I am new at this. I am open to any suggestions that anyone may have, I don't know what to do for a box, if I should buy one or try and make one, also I would need an amplifier. My dad say's th…

(Still working on perfecting google sketchup) Net volume ~ 8 cuft Port Area = 144in2 Port Dimensions = 9 x 16 x 37 (length) Tuning = 32hz Sub will be facing up aswell as the port.

Ok real simple. Wall in a first gen two door Blazer. 2x18"subs. I will buy the apms accordingly and have plenty o' space for a build. Back seat is out and will be staying out. Now would you go with the DP 18's or the new xcon 18's? I'm torn. Don't want a SPL only machine. Just a groundpounder.

Before anyone freaks out we are still going to make subwoofers but we cannot use the name "Magnum" anymore. A Corporation called Mitek owns the rights to the word "Magnum" in car audio, so we cannot use it. This last batch of 12's and 15's that was just made will be the last speakers with "Magnum" on them. 'just thought I'd let you know. :thud:

I'm considering going to a single twelve to get my trunk back, and I'm having a very difficult time deciding on a driver for my application. I like the output of the BTL 18 I have and I am under the impression I can achieve similar output on a smaller driver because I've never even heard the Btl on more than 1500rms. There's a few too many options for me to pick from, I've been spinning in circles. If I'll have 7500rms on tap and anything from 1.5-2.5cu, what would be a woofer capabile of strong authoritative bass? I'm looking at N2/N3 12's, Evil 12's, Team Sundown 12's but I have no clue how to pick one. Each is a significantly different price and I just want to mak…

Im bout to buy 2x 18" RD Audio Alpha V.2 subs from someone on here.... I was wondering if anyone knew the recommended airspace for each sub, and the best tuning frequency for these subs as well.... as of now, I have a box designed for both at 13 ft3 after port displacement and drivers and crap with a port space of 177 square inches and 20" long tuned to 34hz.... so basically im giving each sub around 6.5 ft3 tuned to 34hz ..... to me, this seems good, but I was wondering if anyone on here has played with these subs and if you could give me your opinion on the best box to run these things in? RDAudio.net doesn't have the box recommendations up yet... sooooo help please....…

I'm wondering if anyone has positive experience or success running or a two-way subwoofer for the task of LSQ. I know two-way subwoofer systems aren't popular, at least today, but with enough planning I don't see why someone couldn't take advantage of multiple drivers to split the task of subwoofer duties and make tremendous gains in output without investing in a power plant of amplifiers to drive a single woofer to frequencies it simply isn't efficient at. Putting it into practice, achieving low bass (lets say 45-80Hz) is fairly difficult to achieve with my equipment in my car. But getting sub-bass, 15-40Hz isn't much trouble for me. Now rather than sacrifice on the 15-…

Here are some pictures, and when I have it installed hopefully a little bit later today I will update with pics. For those of you who already own an SSA subwoofer this will be nothing new for you (but probably brings back some great memories!). For those sitting on a fence trying to decide which way to go??? .... I have to say as far as shipping goes, SSA gets an SSA+. Holy shit you guys do this right! Looking to get some components for setup. Budget is about $400-$500 maybe a bit more if it'd be worth it. 2002 Malibu, want to make some kicks for em. 6.5" comps. I want to get the best sound quality possible. I don't want them to be harsh. I haven't personally heard any of these brands but i've read that Focals can be harsh. I want them to be laid back, detailed, have good midbass, Just have a great overall sound and be able to get loud to keep up with some xcon 12's. I have a few that i've looked into. So give me your thoughts and opinions and if you suggest any others in my price range. I'd be willing to spend a $100-few $100 more if i should. I'll most likely be runni…

i want a system that is crazy loud with great frequency range. i like hearing the jumps and drops from one frequency sweep to the next in my songs. i had a sub @44hz that i loved but it was not loud enough and had no low end (44hz, no low end? go figure). so i bought a new one and tuned to 35 and now i have no high end. so my thought was this. what about building a wall, dual ported subs with one tuned to 32hz and the second at 40 or 45hz. installing xovers and subsoncs to prevent the 2 subs from over laping one another. would this work or should i just build a sealed box and be done with it? i was thinking 2 SP4 18's

As most of you know I am running 2 XCON 15s. The other day I let my player go into a sweep of 20-60hz, obviously way below my tuning. My amps do have a set ssf at 28hz. However, my subs bottomed out like crazy for a couple seconds(stopped before I could run to deck to turn down). Now I am having issues with one of the subs. When I say issues its very confusing. I don't seem to have lost any output, BUT when I watch the subs play its almost as if they are "out of phase" with each other. The left sub is BARELY moving at low volumes and even at higher volumes on steady tones. On some songs it seems to move just as much as the other, but on most songs AND tones it is barely …
