my friend and i made a ported box with 2 separate chambers ... 1 chamber for each sub ... each has its own portl .... for some reason in one of the chambers a flapping noise is coming out of the port ... the other sub seems fine and no flap is coming out ... each sub is wired independently as well ... we took the sub out and vacuumed the chamber and the noise is still there ... what could this be? ... is it possible that there is something wrong with the sub causing it to flap? .... the noise fluctuates with the frequency ... ex lower frequency will create a harder slower flap

Well I have a 2005 Scion XA hatchback, will be running either a memphis MCD-1000 or a sundown SAE-1000d. I listen to metal, rap, and drum n bass mostly, and I am thinking that the 12" BL will be the sub for me. I am looking for loud and deep, with the ability to keep up with the drums in metal. I am just looking for advice as to whether or not this is a good sub choice, and should I go ported, and how should I tune it?

Ok heres whats on the table. Its either going to be a new FI sp4v2 18 or the beloved SSA evil 18. Sub would be dual 1 for coils. Ran on a synergy 35.1 at half ohm in a box thats 7.5 cubes tuned to 32hz. It is ran daily. Its played daily. Rarely sees full tilt unless its for demos. But im also going to start entering all the competitions i can locally and possibly slamology this year. Opinions what would net me a higher spl score between the two? If any difference at all. Sub one way or another will get ordered wednsday night so help a brother out!

So I'm coming from a Q, it's in about 2 cubes and tuned to 30hz. I'm powering it with an MD2 being a bit conservative on the gain. The output is pretty good for a twelve in a trunk car and the lows are thunderous, but I want something that will also play the upper frequencies 45-60 a bit louder than the Q does. Lookin for something with the same punchiness of the Q also. Probably looking at 2 12's sealed, I think I'll be satisfied with the output there and I can turn it down if needed. Only subs I've considered were the SE and the SSD w/ a copper coil, possibly the TC-9 too. Any help/suggestions are welcome, I'm open to anything.

just kidding. I am just anxious to see SI back up and running. Ever since SI was robbed I have turned alot of friends onto the Mag. They keep asking me when will more be for sale. Its amazing how people will talk crap about your sub cause its not down at the local sound shop then gauk at it after hearing it and try to buy it from you. Any recent info on how things are coming for SI? sure hope Nick and them don't abandon the SI 8" midbass. I have been holding out.

Hey guys. I've been thinking about this for a long time and it's been bugging me. Anyway, I have a 12" Fi Q in a 2.5 Cuft ported box after displacement tuned 32hz getting a solid 1000 watts and, first I have to say it's an amazing sub, but I've been thinking about replacing it with a 15" IXL. What I'm looking for is to keep the excellent sound quality my Q has which I think the IXL would do very well, but also I want to have the ability of getting much louder than my Q if one day I decide to turn it up or demo or something. What I was thinking of was if I got one, I would put it in a 4 Cuft ported box but I don't know if that is too big or not since the recommended size o…

I'm in the final stages of planning out the system for my 97 Maxima. So far, I have 4 Sundown E8 woofers and a SAX-100.4 amp ordered to cover the midbass. Not purchased, but planned, is a SAZ-3000D running 2 Fi Q15's sealed. I want to run 2 of the E8's in the rear deck where the stock speakers are now and the other 2 E8's in the stock speaker locations in the front doors. The E8's will be powered by the 100.4 in a 4 channel 4ohm config so I can fade as needed for staging. That brings me to the topic of this post. I am left with trying to figure out what tweets and mids to go with. I was originally going install tweets in the stock locations which is at the top of th…

like the topic says i need some recommendations for a new box for my maw15. right now i have it sealed at 2.2cuft. after displacements, and while it sounds nice, just dissapointed with the output. was hoping to like it sealed as i like the flatter response of sealed boxes little more than ported, but after awhile of listening to it i'm starting to find myself turning off the radio cause i'm a little pissed:( hu settings are fine, amps fine but it's the response i'm getting that's letting me down. problem i'm getting into is around 90% of songs on any given cd (rap/hip-hop) i put in has like no response at all, then others will just slam. don't get it, same cd's will play …

As the thread title gives away I'm just wondering if anyone has actually tried the IXL10 IB? or if they would even work in that setup. Basically I've got a mate building a comp SQ car and wants either 8 or 10in drivers under the front seats in IB (yep venting outside the car) lots of metal cutting on this one. T.S. specs for the 10 aren't perfect but thought someone might have tried anyway and could give an opinion. Any thoughts yay or nay are appreciated. Thanks, Jono

I'm looking to build a serious quality HT sub that will really hit the lows, and with a FS of 15.4 hz thats enough to keep me smiling. i was thinking along the lines of a rectangular box with a 6" port and roughly 15 cubes tuned to 20 hz, what do you guys think? gives me a miniscule bump in the low 20's but keeps the f3 at ~17 hz. i was thinking 1" MDF with a double thickness front baffle, but am not quite sure how to brace it. (i can't wait for the IXL drivers) http://www.techytoys.com/store/product.php?productid=4501 thats what i will be using for an amp, The buttkicker 1100w @ 4 ohm. I know what you're thinking, but it's not the typical noob question. I'm wondering how the coils are wound on a DVC speaker/sub. Are they wound with one above the other, is one on top of the other? Jimj and i were discussing this earlier, maybe someone here will know. here's the thoughts so far... One above the other is wrong cause this is just a split coil, if there's no gap then the coils are touching shorting and acting as one coil, not two One wound on top of the first--They'd touch still The only thing is maybe they have some sort of thin insulation, but under the heat conditions i don't see this as being very effective

  20. Hey everyone, this post/question is mainly directed toward the big guy. I am wondering which SSA sub you would recommend to me given these limits/stipulations: 2014 Honda Civic Sedan 1500 Watts on tap (Crescendo Symphony 1500) LIMITED SPACE... I am only looking to build and install an enclosure no larger than 1.5 net cubic feet. That being said, I have been considering either a 12" ICON sealed. A 12" XCON sealed (XCON being the most I can afford). Or, one of those two in the 10" variety, ported. This is for a daily driver, and I will need as much trunk space I can get, but still get loud and sound good. What is your input? Anyone else, feel free to chime in…

I will keep my thoughts to myself at the moment, cuz i may be WAYYY off base thoughts?" thats a copy an paste from chad aka visitor on roe an since there many more sub designers over here figured id post it cause i wanna what advantages a design like this would have? any opinions?

Well here goes: I have 2 15" RE SX's and two Sundown Audio SAZ 1500d's. Problem is, the Fs of the SX is 27.8 and the box that I'm going to use(or was gonna use) is tuned to 54hz. Now being that the Fs is 27.8, it's not a SPL sub now I realize in a box that is tuned to 54hz.(I'm still learning I'm a semi-newb) I've heard the 15" SX in a 46hz tuned box with a 1000 watt DD amplifier and it sounded ok, but I've had a few people tell me, these 2 SX's are going to sound bad as in terrible in a 54hz box. Does anyone have any opinions/suggestions/solutions or alternatives? I may be switching sub's and if I have to whats a better alternative? I need 2 15's with the Fs around 34-…
