Subwoofers / Speakers

So I hate to ask this sort of question as I realize that the sound of a subwoofer is so dependent on the install, but as the few audio shops around here sell a majority of RF, Alpine, and JL products, I have no way to judge what I am getting into. So here I go.... I currently have two alpine type-s 10 inch subs running off about 500 watts in a very poorly tuned Best Buy box... The cleanest system I've yet to hear is two 10 in memphis subs in sealed boxes, the loudest system I have yet to here is two RF punch 12's in one of their custom, fancy looking ported boxes running off of maybe 700ish watts. Looking to get a new 15" sub to replace my 2 SA-12's. I am very pleased with them, but i am just wanting to try something new and have been itching to build a new box lol. Looking for sound quality over anything else. Price range is around $200. Will be most likely going in a ported box in the trunk of my altima. Just wanting some suggestions of good quality 15" subs in my price range. Thanks in advance!

About half of my active setup arrived in the mail today. The tweeters are supposed to come later today and then some more wiring tomorrow, the mids friday, and the coustic crossover on saturday I hope. FEDEX really beat the chit out of my packages. What effect does it have when wiring the tweeters out of phase? I've heard that it can be another tuning aid, but not sure what it does, or is supposed to do to the soundstage or sound of the tweeter. Will it make them more laid back? Make them distort easier or affect power handling in any way? I ask because I want to make sure if I try it that I don't do more harm then good, so any caveats are appreciated. Searched online and didn't find any useful info, but figured some of the more experienced here might share.

Here are some pics of my install of a 15" D2 into my 2003 Mitsubishi Evolution. The box is covered in black vinyl over 3/8" foam so its kind of squishy The sub is in a 3^ft3 sealed box.

Sry to keep posting these questions but ill try to make it as specific as possible. Mind you i perfer a really warm sounding speaker but i also like detail. So im doing a 3 way setup with either the CDT ES 07 and the Peerless SLS or the Hertz Hi Energy 165 (6.5) and HV200 (8) So which do you think i would like more and would have the best SQ

I preordered the diyma 12" but need something to run in the meantime. the amp i have is 500w rms, probably underrated. i'm looking at either one of the eclipse sw 8000 lmt 10's sealed or a single rli-8 ported. The treo ssi 8" is on the list as well and it would be ported.

Which sub for spl nd hits the lows as well? Both powered by a saz2500 ? Opinions, thanks!!

My friend just got a 01 golf gti and wants a straight SPL sub. I told him just run a 12 since he wants to keep some space. What is a good all out SPL sub for daily loudness? His budget is $500. He doesn't care about sound. Also power will be off a 2k either dc or crescendo.

I've been checking these out on the sundown website and a few vids on youtube (obviously don't do any justice) I was wondering if any of you guys have heard about them or have them installed in your cars? I'm considering buying a set for my front speakers.

Which is better ( Fi 15 inch bl or a Kicker l7 15 inch) Would like some opinions on which is more liked amongst everyone! Kind of stuck trying to pick 2 new Subwoofers out for the new system I'll be putting in my car. Yes I know kicker isn't a very favored brand for a lot of people, but I have heard a lot of great things about kickers new 2 ohm 15 inch l7's. I still have a few friends who swear by Fi and SMD's Subwoofers so I thought I would see if I could get some added opinions.

OK here goes I built a box for one of my subs since one was damaged in shipping and i am waiting for a replacement, Memphis 12'' M3 dvc 4 ohm. It is ported and is 2.0 cubes after port and sub displacement. The port is 2.5 inches wide and 12.5 inches high and 27.75 inches long. can anyone tell my why this does not have hardly any output? I am running a Memphis PR 1.1000 amp it is seeing 2 ohms which according to the owners manual is 600 watts RMS@ 2 ohms. I have already checked the all of the electrical connections, The sub is wired fine no out of phase coil or anything. Now if i put my old subs back in they sound awesome, wtf did i do wrong?

Do you have to put it in the oven? Cuz the glue around that thing is super super hard like fiberglass, and i can't cut it off/

My girlfriend finally confessed she wants some bass in her ride. So I'm trying to figure out what I want to do as far as her sub. I'm looking for a decent 10".. nothing special. Rated around 300-800 rms. SPL or SQ don't outweigh each other here.. this is more or less just practice for me as far as my box building goes, and adding a little bass to her Saturn Ion. Preferably need a d2 so I can get a final 4 ohm load to bridge. I'll probably just be getting a cheap 2 ohm stable A/B amp to push it.. Hey guys, so I just got me a sundown zv5 15 and built a box for it. I was tight on space so i went with an aero ported box, its roughly in the 4.5 ft3 area after displacement and what not. I'm using a 8" sonotube tuned to 32hz. I figure the 8 would work well because it's slightly less port area than what is needed for a slot port. And I've read aero port don't need to be as much as a slot port. Anywho, the sub kills the lows! It's moving a lot of air. But on the higher frequency is just lacks. For example , young jeezy- put on, that first note out of that 4 notes really sucks. lol it's real quiet compared to the other 3 notes that follow it. I tried another p…

I was wondering if anyone had any input on this matter So I have a single 15" xcon that I can barely fit into my trunk, it's a 2005 grand prix. I've built two boxes for it and both of them will not fit smooth in the trunk. Meaning I tried to get the optimal box volume for the sub and it wouldn't fit unless I put the top plate on after it was in the trunk. Not a good idea when trying to remove it. So I was thinking of maybe trying 4 8 inch subs. I just wanted to hear if any one had any thoughts of the output comparison. Will the output be somewhat close to the 15, will it have a completely different sound. I've never heard 4 8s so I have no idea how it will sound

Hey all.I got my system installed and have been bumping for about a week.Havent had any promblems at all except for when I play higher notes.When I play the higher notes I can smell my subs a little bit.I noticed this like the day I installed them so I have been staying away from songs with the higher notes because I really don't want to ruin my new subs.I have my gain set slightly less than half way and that is really all I have touched on my amp.I have a DC 5k amp and 4 10" DC lvl 3's with lvl 4 upgrades.My enclosure is tuned to 33hz and I have 2 100ah batts as reserve with a 250amp Singer alternator.I have a clipping indicator on my bass knob and I always make sure it …

Ok I dont understand how the guy from the tahoe is running 12 tweeters from one T600.2? Yes I also dont understand how two 1000.4 amplifiers are running ten 6.5inch speakers, two 4inch midranges and two 8inch midbass Can somebody tell me how is that wired? doesnt so many speakers on each channel cause the impedance to be insanely low causing the amp overheat or inestability? am I missing something here?
