ok...here's my dilemna: i have (2) 12" premier 2000spl's, running off a hifonics bx1500d ("1500"x1@1ohm) in a 90 camaro, and they're currently running in a sealed box, because it's just begining to get warm here in the okla. i have decided what i want to do (box wise) and they are as follows.... 1. i want the box to sit on the flat part behind my back seats and under my hatch glass..... 2. i need AT LEAST 3.5 cubes for the 2 subs (total, 1.75 apiece) 3. i want at least 60^2 of port area.... 4. i would like to retain my back seats<----u no what im sayin? now here's where it sucks: i can't get enough box volume, with that much port area (and it hangs over onto the bac…

Ok so i've been on the search for a tweet, i bought the morel but PE killed my order so i'm debating buying them from madisound. my quesitons? how do these tweets perform? anyone have direct experience with them? http://www.madisound.com/pdf/mdt%2029.pdf The waterfall plot looks pretty great to me but i'm sure what time is too long, i see the broad hump at 1-2k makes me think they shouldnt' be played that low, but that also shouldn't be a problem. The only thing is i heard that textile domes weren't supposed to have transients that were that good, so maybe the scale is throwing me off? Shoot me any opinions before i go ahead and re-order these bastards

Hey guys, i have made a little bit of progress in terms of my build. Purchased an saz-1000d so i had a place to start with because i honestly couldnt make up my mind what i wanted to do so i just decided to buy something and get started. I currently have 1 jl w6 and i would like louder, but still sound really good playing music. I will be getting a box custom made, i am now down to picking the subs... So a couple questions... What should i go with considering the amp. 1 15" or 2 12" Including the box, i am looking to spend somewhere in the 700.00 range. I hope that this has given ample enough information to tell you what i want so you guys can point me in the right direc…

well my solo x's will be here monday, so id like to get started on box plans. my max dimensions are 50"wide,21"tall, and 15deep which if used all that with no port is 7.388 now i know once i add port, and displacment of the sub, it will go down. id like to get atleast 3.0cf for each sub.the more the better lol as for tuning, im not so sure. i like lows so i was thinking around 32Hz?? if anyone has a better suggestion, please let me know.im building 2 seperate boxes so when i sell them, they will be much easier to sell. the recommended ported box for 1 10 is 2.25-6.0cf. as for an amp, i am saving for a audiopipe 3000d (315 shipped w.warrenty) or if i can find a better amp…

  9. soo... i have since sold my 18" XCON and saz1500 since my alternator could not keep up at all. i will be getting a 320HP from DC. and maybe upgrading to a 270XP if that doesnt do enough for me. so, here are my plans: keeping my headunit (Kenwood HD545U) going to be using 2 SAZ-2500D's for which ever substage i go with. i know i will need to get a ton of SDS (sound deadener showdown) not quite sure on my front stage yet. i would like to stay passive. i dont have much room for custom fabrication. but i would like to keep my Hertz hsk165 components. maybe somehow add an additional set? if i go this route, i will get a Sundown saz100.4 Where i need opinions is my substage!…

Well I get back to the house and see a package at the door and I think "sweet! The second Mag came in today!" Well I get up to the door and notice that it is not our specific box (we have all drivers packaged and shipped a certain way in certain boxes). The box is oblonged shaped with scratches, dent, and scuffs all over it. I take it in the house and this is what I see (pics below). Fedex apparently played football in a concrete parking lot with the drivers motor and then threw it in a random box with no packaging. The magnet slugs are off-center big time and there are magnet shards all over it. To boot, the surround has a puncture in it. Looks like the Blazer wil…

  11. i mapped out some EQ settings in a new box design. 9 cubic feet with a 32 hz tuning and 128 port area. Fi audio SP4 18 on a ZX2500.1 this is my first time ever looking into any EQ or using win isd to this level. im sure most of you will remember that my goal here is to get a flat responce curve with as few peaks as possible up into the 65hz range for the music i like. am i on the right track here? a gain of 3 db @ 65hz a static gain of 2db across the system a gain of 3db at 32hz a gain of -3.5db at 38hz a gain of 2db @ 50hz xover at 100hz sub sonic at 28hz air velocity is 20m/s impedance does not drop below 3.6ohm while inside of xover frequencies. max VA is 4KW …

  15. Went and met with the owner today at his shop......we bs'd around for awhile and took home a few subs! They have the AMH, KMH, and BD Series...I snatched 4 of the BD series 12's (Their biggest at the moment) Rated at a "conservative" 1,000rms .....from what i have heard they are VERY efficient subs! Only time will tell....me and owner are building a box for them within the next week....I'm likely gonna tune them to 33hz....maybe lower. Maybe i'll do a review and throw up some TL vids.... Anyway....on to some pics!

I had planned on getting a caprice but I don't think that is gonna happen any more so I am stuck with my existing car, a 95 Acura Integra. So I plan on getting a new sub but only one. And I want to use my existing amp, a Viper 2500.1 (1500x1@4ohms or 2500x1@2ohms), well because I have it and I don't want it sitting collecting dust. So I am looking for a single sub that will hump like two and take massive amounts of power. And to make it even more difficult, one that will operate at one of the above ohmages. And I do not have a problem setting gains really really low to compensate for a woofer that can't take as much power as I have. New or old.

hmm i got some info today about ported boxes. I was thinking about using a ported box and porting the bass into my cabin. Well... it turns out all the port itself does is boost and PLAY the frequency it is tuned to, and the majority of the bass still comes from the front wave of the sub. so if i tune the box to 31 hz and i stick the ports into the cabin into the cabin i will hear boom boom boom BOOM boom BOOM the "BOOM" being the frequency the port is tuned to and it will overwhelm rest of the bass. i think thats why spl people like to upfire the ports into the cabin. any comments?

  19. Ok well I just received my D2 from Oak244 on ca.com, I just realized he's a member on here too, and wel I need an enclosure design. Itll be powered by a Hifonics BX1205d, I listen to rock and rap just about 50/50, and I would like LSQ leaning towards the SPL side. I was thinking about doing the 1.5 cuft @ 32 hz that is recommend on the SI site but thought I'd ask for other recommendations. BTW will anyone here design a box for me? lol My old box was for a RE SX 15" external dimensions 34w x 25d x 12h tuned to 35 hz. The box was HUGE. I need my trunk so I can relocate my battery since intercooler piping for my boost project will get in the way.

Okay, So i have a 2001 jetta, i dont know how big my trunk is and i suck at math. I was orignally going to get 2 12's btl but everyone told me that i would neeed to upgrade my alternator and the big 3. is this true? so my other option was to go with the 2 12's BL, but i dont know if i would still need to upgrade anything electrical. but either way, i would perfer to get the btl but dont have enough money to get a new alternator and the big 3 okay, now either way if i were to go with the btl or bl, what would i want to configure the woofers too? like this list thing Ohm: P Chamfer: Cooling: Flatwind: Daily or SPL: Extreme Lead: Universal: Dustcap: i would be using this dai…

I know you guys will recommend going full size... I have an older Toyota Landcruiser FJ60 and want some good bass without sacrificing storage/dog toting ability. I am looking at one or two enclosures in the rear quarter panels (out of sight and paw proof). I was thinking 10" or 12" subs (likely two - one ea side). Powered by a single Alpine PDX-1.600 The JL 13.5" won't fit. Pioneer 1201's should, otherwise not sure what you guys would recommend getting. total depth (not counting what hte enclosure will use up is about 5.5". Thanks for helping me find something!

Hey Everyone, I am switching from my 15 BL to either 12's or 10's. I love the 15's but I sold one to a friend and am trying to sell another one that I never even used NIB. Anyway, I was thinking of doing 2 or 3 12's or maybe even 4 10's. I just have not really made up my mind yet. I have not had either and I was wondering which you guys prefer. If you were going to make a system and had either choice what would you choose and why. Also what brand would you go with, I'm looking for good loud subs that stay tight and keep there quality. For now they will be on a SAE-1200 but I plan on moving to a 2000 in the future when I upgrade my electrical further. Basically just …
