I have to decided to just go with a front stage in my car instead of a set of components for the front and the rear. I am thinking of a 3 way because I have my subs crossed at 60 Hz and want a little more midbass. I am going for an SQ setup and listen to everything, but I generally like heavier midbass, warm midrange, and softer highs. I have a 2004 Tahoe with an Alpine IVA-W505 up front with a Audiocontrol DQXS for when I can run active. I have eDead 120 and SS Damplifier Pro for damping and the subs are 4 ED 13Av.2s ported, tuned to 32 Hz, on an USAmps Ax3200de. The electrical is a 300 Amp Alt., 0 AWG, RF 10 Farad Cap, and 4 Deka Intimidators. I plan on using a Zap…

Hey everyone, I should be getting my 12" D2 soon and I wanted to ask a couple questions about boxes and powering it. I'm looking for more SQ than SPL, clean loud low-end thump is what im looking for Now as far as power is concerned I can push it with either a JBL1200.1 or a Orion 2500. I was thinking 2^3 sealed pumping it with the Orion OR 3^3 ported tuned to ~25hz pushed by the JBL. Anyone have any opinions on the subject? I have a feeling I'm gonna need to buy another D2 to get what I'm looking for. TIA

Here is my PM to denim... i thought i would ask everyone else this too.... """ Like i probably have told you more then once. Im running 2 jl 10w3v2's and a jl 500/1 amp. I was in my car today after doing some more rear hactch "dynomat" (i use ice and weather shield but thats illrelivant) any-who... I really like the SQ of my subs they hit everynote, and there loud, like 141 is loud, but im looking for more. the SI MAG 15 D2 will that sound as good as these, and have the bass, the pounchy tight bass, even when turned up high? because i know there is a reason they make subs 8"-18" for a reason. I mean would i be better of doing another 2 10"s + another 500/1, or doing 4 12w…

kinda downgrading, or just changing rather from a Punch 5002 feeding 2 Punch stage1 12" i wanna get one sub probably in a sealed box to be fed by the 5002 im looking for sq over spl, so like a more sq side LSQ sub is what im looking for. preferably <$200. the p5002 amp can do 500Wx1 @4-ohm bridged, basically 4 ohm dvc sub right? or am i wrong im not quite sure how the grand spectrum of products are. in my nubness, i imagine rf and jl at the expensive and prety good quality end? i'd like a sub thats quality first rather than value. how do alpine kicker jl compare? please feel free to "rip me a new one" cuz im really just a nub at this stuff. wondering about boxes too. …

I am new to this forum and am a member of caraudio.com and mwcaraudio.net. I think its obvious SSA makes their own subs. I have run Sundown and IA and currently am in between systems, trying to get ready for MECA competitions in Va. My latest set-up was a 12" Warden on an RD 3250 V.1 My question is, what makes SSA subs different from the rest ? Being on this forum, i figure i can get the best answers from the company and members who have run SSA subs themselves.

Just received my 2 DCON's the other day, and couldn't help but notice the MASSIVE magnets on them, which leads me to wonder... Call me an idiot, but how does such a gigantic magnet (and all of the other high end parts used) only ammount to 300 watts RMS?? I see many other subs with SMALLER magnets (RF P3) that handle MUCH more power...?

hey iv had my dcon 12 in a sealed box that is a little too small for it, and im now looking for a ported box that is big enough to get the job done. i want loudness. im trying to stay cheap as possible, limited on money. its in a 94 blazer pointed back right now. i found a ported box on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-0-FT-3-TUNED-32Hz-SLOT-VENTED-CUSTOM-MDF-BOX-ENCLOSURE-for-12-INCH-SUBWOOFER-/400334071728?pt=US_Speaker_Sub_Enclosures&hash=item5d35c527b0 how is that?

I have a 2004 tacoma ext cab with a single ssa dcon 12 svc 4 0hm and a Boston acoustics gt-2125 bridged to give the dcon 400w rms at 4ohms. I have a sealed box with 1.25 cuft of airspace it's a prefab ground shaker here I can use, it's new and came as a gift, my question is how would it sound sealed with 400w rms in a sealed enclosure?? All this stuff is new, and I just don't have 200 for a custom tune box right now and I really want to have something in my truck would it be good to use this sealed box or get a tuned and ported box.

Is it possible to easily mod the SSA DCON 12 to have a higher resonance frequency, say 39Hz? I know some subs appear to allow this by simple dust cap replacement (replace the stock dust cap with a lighter one).

As far as I can tell most people are mentioning 300-400watts for the Dcons which is fine for my current amplifier setup. Question is, if I upgrade to a JL 500/1 would it be overkill for the Dcon? I know seeing the full 500watts is probably not going to happen, but I would like to know if the Dcon can handle 500watts daily. Like 4hrs a daily 5 days a week. Also starting looking at the Mach5 IXL subwoofers since I see that as a similar recommendation when people are mentioning the Dcons. Any experince with either subwoofer would be great. I love Image Dynamics but cannot find anyone local(plus I h8 the local guys) who would just simply order through their shop, and I know t…

I've been considering getting one of these subs but I am curious, I'm hoping that they are under rated a bit. And i know it is generally a good idea to over power the subs rather than chance clipping the amp, and I know how quality they are so I must ask will I be safe running one DCON on an Alpine MRP-M650 at 600w? I know that I can always gain down the amp but does anyone think they'd be alright at nearly full power?

So i got a new clutch/flywheel put in my car. My mechanic put my old parts in my trunk which i forgot about. My sub doesn't have a grill and that box full of parts broke the 10" ssa dcon rubber surround and even the cone. I tried using silicone, but the sub sounds like crap! Can i get a new cone and rubber or should i start looking for a new 10"?

Thought I’d share a few pics of the DCON’s I was originally running. The original subs we used in the Traverse after I got the rest of the system installed. They were originally ran on a Zapco Z-1KD but after a fateful incident with an open sunroof during a rain storm it had to be replaced. I had an Arc Audio XDi 2000 sitting in the closet and the only amp I had that remotely fit in the amp rack. The DCON’s were dual 4 ohm and wired to 1 ohm on the Zapco for a very reasonable 1,000 watts to the pair of 400wrms rated subs. I wasn’t too terribly keen on running them on the Arc 2k at that ohm load at first but since one was making a noise fresh out of the box I…

Hey guys, I've got 250 RMS to work with from my cadence four channel amp and I'm debating about getting an SSA Dcon. Does anyone know when the 12" Single 4 ohm version will be back in stock? And I listen to a lot of hip hop and rap, what do you think my best box size and port frequency would be for my likes? Also, does anyone know of a good box maker in the indianapolis area or a pre-made box online that'll work well with a 12" Dcon on 250 watts? Thanks a bunch everyone!

I haven't heard much about these subs and are curious about them for a friends vehicle. Was just wondering how these subs are and how they compare to other subs in there power range? Like the RE Audio SR's, DC Sound Lab Level 2's, SS RL-i series and AA Assassins? My friend is looking for a good pair of 12s to power off a 600 watt Kicker amp. He wants it to get loud and sound clean in a ported enclosure. The Dcons look promising but I haven't heard much feedback about them since they were released.

I have a 2.05ft box tuned to 36hz for 2 10" drivers. I had 1 sa10 in a 1ft box tuned to 35hz and it's way too peaky for my tastes - shakes the whole car on lows but has hardly any output at higher frequencies, so music sounds "uneven". I'm trying to find a sub that has a smoother frequency response and sq but still gets decent spl. I've graphed 1 of each sub below, in a 1ft box tuned to 36hz (w/ the sa10 for reference). Each is at their recommended rms. I have no idea why the Demon is so off - I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong but I've triple checked all t/s numbers (if someone wants to try and graph that one for me feel free!) I'm limited to a max …

Hi forum folk, I'm here tonight to ask about a topic I've never discussed before. Only because I had never seen them before I came to SSA and now that I've seen them once I've seen them a thousand times! The topic of the SSA Evil 6.5(sp?) Is one that I see on this forum with a turn off every "page" and it seems like many of you SSA-ers have gone to some lengths to assure you were among this elite crew of car audio enthusiasts. So what is it about these speakers that is so awesome that you're willing to wait out their build and restock? Granted they are inexpensive mid-range drivers in a sea of likely overpriced mid-range speakers but I want to know what sets them apa…

I realize that SSA are built at the FI buildhouse, but what are the differences between these two subwoofers? The only differences I notice in a SP4 and Evil are the magnets which one is ufo style and one is the traditional stack style, then the SP4 has sandwhiched leads in the spiders. The specs are almost identical, a small change in the T/S parameters. Is the Evil basically the fully loaded SP4 with an extra 200 dollars added on top? Nothing agianst SSA or Fi either way, I just am interested in what makes the evil better to which that 200$ comes from.

I'm in the market for a 10" sub and only have space for a sealed box (will be fiberglassing to use otherwise wasted space). Been out of the car audio game for a few years and there's a lot more choices these days than I remember. So here goes, I have an old amp laying around that I'm planning on using and potentially upgrading the amp later on. It puts out 400-500wrms. If I upgrade later it'll probably be to something in the 800-1k range. I don't feel the need to go any higher. Any suggestions here to go SSA or FI (with the high Qts option for sealed)? Both subs are somewhat in the same price range.

I'm looking to upgrade my 2 10" kicker cvx's with something better. It's a 2.6 cubic foot box tuned to 33hz. They will be powered by a kicker zxs1500.1 amp rated for 1581 watts. I was trying to decide between the gcons or the chaos. Gcons are only $183 each with free shipping and chaos are $220 each with $80 shipping for both. I want it to sound good but be loud. Are the chaos worth the extra money? Or maybe other suggestions?
