Hollis and I got back from SBN last night (Monday night). We were there from Friday until Monday morning and it was a blast! Sean Belanger won S1 MECA with a 152.X dB score totally whooping everyone else in his class using two of our claw 12's. I'll post more later...gotta go.

I've never been a big basshead, so I'm downsizing my idmax down to a pair of 8's. looking to spend about whatever I can sell my idmax for, so I'd say about 200ish, maybe a little more. mounting depth can't be too deep, lets just say 6" tops. I'm thinking about the ID8's right now, any input on those would be nice or any other suggestions. the eD 700s were also considered but ehh...lol. looking for purely SQ. my high end consists of extremis's and AC g2si ribbons. these are going where the rear speakers go, but in a sealed box. thanx yall.

I read on a thread on here that a sub with say 90 sensitivity rated 500rms would be louder (on the meter atleast) than a sub with a 85 sensitivity rated 1000 rms. are there other factor involved in this besides sensitivity. like excursion, that would affect which one is louder. I ask because I was wonderin around on ebay and saw a sub called a AA Bass15 (I'm sure its not the same AA that some ppl on here use) and it has a sensitivity of 96 db rated 450/900. Thinking about the whole double power gains 3 db rule, mathematically it seems like this would be better than my audiopulse axis with 87db sensitivity rated 2500rms, but it does mid to high 40's. would that little e…

I have a couple questions. First would be: I have an 86 Ford Crown Vic that i just installed some 5 1/4 coaxials in the front kick panels, and i was wondering if i added a baffle or some type of backstop if it would increase the volume a little bit. I dare not list the speakers in question because of the shittyness. They are just mounted in the factory location under the door panel cover. Second question would be if i ran 2 sets of four ohm speakers to my two channel amp what ohm load would the amplifier see. Amp is a RF punch 450.2 powering 2 sets of coaxials. I ran the left channels both positives to the amps positive speaker output and the same with the negative…

Hey, its been a while since I've posted here. I've been running a maw-15 ported for the last year or so, and i'm really happy with it. I just got a new car and need to downsize a little, so I was thinking about going with the 12" ixl. THere doesn't seem to be much info out there about them, except the review on here. With higher power handling, higher xmax, and just better quality overall, I'm not too worried about the output or sound quality being any less than my maw-15. Am I right? And what would be a good ported box for these? Thanks

So I'm running an Xcon 15 ported in my daily driver right now. I am thinking of picking up 3 SA-8s to put in a new project car. What type of output difference is there gonna be? This is strictly for music, I just don't want to be in the daily, then hop in the show car and think "This sucks!" Both cars are big Cadilllacs. Any input?

This is for those of you who really don't know us here at Stereo Integrity... I dream, literally, of ways to increase the sound quality of a speaker. My dad and I drive around with spare voice coils in our cup holders (they're 3" diameter, which conveniently helps hold large tall cups in place). Jacob and I rack our brains constantly about the pro's and con's of crossover slopes, frequencies, and speaker selections we are faced with when designing component systems. If any of you (our customers) were around us just hanging out, you would know what I'm talking about...Hoss can vouch for me on this one. I dream about cone materials, voice coil manipulations, massive spider…

With that in mind, feel free to throw in some other subs that you feel fit the description.

  11. As title states, Equipment: -Alpine 9835 in 3-way mode, HP for Tweets, BP for Mids, LP for Subwoofer. 6/12/18/24 dB/oct slopes at various FREQ's. - RE XXX 6.5's currently in .25-.3 cubes SEALED door pods. (2ohm) -Vifa 1" Neodymium Textile Dome autosound Tweeters. (6ohm) -Kicker KX 600.4, 150x2rms for mids @2ohms, ~45-50 x2rms for Tweeters. I haven't even turned it on yet, but currently I have it setup as follows: Sub: LP @63hz 24dB/oct Mids: HP @63hz 24dB/oct, LP @2.5Khz 24dB/oct Tweets: HP @2.5Khz 24dB/oct I would like input as far as the FREQ/SLOPES go, ESPECIALLY the slopes. Is it ALWAYS good to go with steep slopes for ALL settings? Is it better to use say, 12,18 dB/o…

Ok so yesterday i smelt a weird ass smell. It almost smelt like manure or something. Then I smelt it again today, twice. The second time i popped the trunk and stuck my nose in the port.. found the source of the funk... It was a burning smell. I was listening to music at full tilt which i regularly do. The oinly change i've made was putting on the loudness feature on my headunit. So what's the deal? The spider is fine and the voice coils look ok but they have spots on them that look like rust or something. Also the burn marks of the terminals aren't from me. My sub came like that. Here's the pics. I ripped the sub out to investigate. But i'm stumped. It seems that the sme…

  14. Quick question, what are the effects of a midbass/range driver missing its dustcap? Recently I dented my cone and tried to fix it but ended up with a speaker with no dustcap attached, no other damage to speaker whatsoever. Its a cheap driver so I can replace it but thought I would ask before purchasing another one. Thanks

One of the coils on my 12" Mag is blown (I Think). when we wired the sub in series on a Volt meter the DCR was only @ like 1.5 ohms. Me and squeak9798 tested it @ his house and I think it took a big bite. Would there be anyway either Stereo Integrity or RE could rebuild this woofer for me? I am willing to pay and ship it to get it Fixed. I am sick of having no bass.

  17. I'm pretty much set with going the SSA route, just need some help with my options. First, I am looking more for SQ rather than SPL, but also want to be able to make hairs stand on my neck and get loooow when needed. So Im thinking a sealed enclosure...also to save space. Currently my amp runs 750rms @2 ohm (1000 @ 1 ohm stable), so most likely would upgrade amp if need. With regards to damping factor on amps, would 2 ohm be sufficient vs 1 ohm on most amps or is this not such an important aspect? I'm considering two Gcon 12's or a single Icon/Xcon...price being important as I would like to stay under $500. If I go single sub would 15" be as efficient as two 12"? And wou…

okay, so i got my XXX 15 in a couple days ago, i had it in there good running off my viper, 1 problem, is my SX moved more than my XXX does, so i thought maybe the XXX needs more power, or maybe it hasnt broken in yet, so i got my PA a3000db in, this adds in more problems, for some reason the amp isnt doing something right or i havent set the "extra complicated" 3 knobs, wow you match the gain which i did 1800 x 1 then square root it comes out to 42.4v, so i set it there, but it isnt as loud as the viper was hardly, its not really much louder if any, but the lowend is gone and for some reason i have more midbass now, so wtf, it used to hit some notes with my viper, but wi…

Ok guys my big build (to me) is finally in the works. I have begun ordering and need some advice on my front stage. My car is a 2004 Scion xB. Not a lot of room in the doors as they sit, but I'm prepared to modify the panels to get the sound I want. As of now I'm running a Pioneer DEH-X8600BH head unit (which may change to a double DIN before it's over) so I'm not looking to run active. I just want to get a front stage that actually has some bass to it. Right now without the subs running it sounds like total crap as there's no bass whatsoever to these Polk DB6.5s. I would like to be able to have a setup that would sound great with no sub playing. The front stage as of now…

  22. Yep yep, I just sent it out a few hours ago. Chad should have it by Wednesday and then he and JimJ are going to try to meet this weekend to do some sealed testing. I was sad to see it go...and it also reminded me of how critical a sub is to a sound system. Damned Audax 5.25's!!

RE subs have had a really good reputation for sounding great and having a strong threshold for abuse, however there's no talk of them anymore. Did their quality go downhill or is it the raise in price that is causing them to not be as popular as they used to be?
