Subwoofers / Speakers

Discuss Subwoofers And All Aspects Of Speakers here.

RE subs have had a really good reputation for sounding great and having a strong threshold for abuse, however there's no talk of them anymore. Did their quality go downhill or is it the raise in price that is causing them to not be as popular as they used to be?

I've never been a big basshead, so I'm downsizing my idmax down to a pair of 8's. looking to spend about whatever I can sell my idmax for, so I'd say about 200ish, maybe a little more. mounting depth can't be too deep, lets just say 6" tops. I'm thinking about the ID8's right now, any input on those would be nice or any other suggestions. the eD 700s were also considered but ehh...lol. looking for purely SQ. my high end consists of extremis's and AC g2si ribbons. these are going where the rear speakers go, but in a sealed box. thanx yall.

I would hope that most of you know that I'm not one to post "this vs. that" threads.... with that being said: My CDT CL62's are a little dissapointing. I want to have a four-way ( ) in my Trailblazer: Componant set in the front doors / dedicated mid-bass in the rear doors / sub in the cargo area. I'm of the mindset to go: Subbass - taken care of (Uberwoofer 15" + 1500 watts). Midbass - 6.5", 60-150hz, sealed in 0.5-0.7ft^3. Midrange - 6.5", 120-3khz, sealed (0.5ft^3) or IB. Tweets - 3/4", 3khz plus, prolly metallic, but could do silk. I have 100x4@4ohm rms available. 200@2ohm. If you had $600 to spend on those six speakers & a pair of crossovers, what would yah do?

I'm going to try and keep this as short, simple, and straight forward as possible. My trunk's cubic feet is 15.18 ... 2 18" Xcons Vas is 429, resulting in 15.14^3. Good match eh? I hate the idea of having just one subwoofer. I don't know why, but i just do. I want to see what everyone thinks about using Xcons in an IB setup? I read that it decreases power handling, doesn't sound as loud as an enclosure would, but saves space and weight. And hopefully allow me to utilize the amount of cubic feet i have and be able to use 2 18's! I'm just coming up with some ideas, so i don't know if this is just completely dumb or what But i want to keep a lot of options open. So ple…

  7. Ok well I just received my D2 from Oak244 on ca.com, I just realized he's a member on here too, and wel I need an enclosure design. Itll be powered by a Hifonics BX1205d, I listen to rock and rap just about 50/50, and I would like LSQ leaning towards the SPL side. I was thinking about doing the 1.5 cuft @ 32 hz that is recommend on the SI site but thought I'd ask for other recommendations. BTW will anyone here design a box for me? lol My old box was for a RE SX 15" external dimensions 34w x 25d x 12h tuned to 35 hz. The box was HUGE. I need my trunk so I can relocate my battery since intercooler piping for my boost project will get in the way.

Whats up guys. I am currently in the market for two solid SQ 12's to run off of the SAE-1200D I have on the way. This will be going in another vehicle of mines. I have never done a dual 12 setup so I figured it was about time to try it out. I am currently running a AA Havoc 12" on a SAE-1000D in my daily driver, so I am looking for something similar that will get LOW and maintain SQ. Thanks in advance for the forthcoming input!!!!

I'm going to be installing my focal ps165 component set into my 03 tahoe. My plans are to use the supplied crossovers. I will be using a baffle and possibly deaden the doors in the near future when time and money allow. I have seen several installs in tahoes where they mount the tweeter right above the mid in the doors. My vehicle has room for that but came factory with tweets in the pillars. Not sure which route to take. Doors or pillars? I have read where putting them with the mid is best? I know this may boil down to personal preference but I don't exactly know what to expect from either.

1st of all, im new to the forum.. so hi everyone Had a demo of a 12" Mag two years back, in canada - the car was ratting at an SPL probably similar to the subs' output, so it wasn't exactly an ideal install and demo... however, i got interested, enough now to spring for one. but i live in switzerland. how do I get one? pls help... me wants MAG bad!! I could offer my car as a demo-car.. :D cheers, Mike "Demo car": it has 2x10" midbass drivers in the doors, Exact MG10 fullrange upper end, (hopefully soon Audax Midrange and Ribbon tweets), an Alto UCS Pro processor, an embedded PC and homebrew USB-DAC for a source... currently all parts are a percentage short of being ins…

This is for those of you who really don't know us here at Stereo Integrity... I dream, literally, of ways to increase the sound quality of a speaker. My dad and I drive around with spare voice coils in our cup holders (they're 3" diameter, which conveniently helps hold large tall cups in place). Jacob and I rack our brains constantly about the pro's and con's of crossover slopes, frequencies, and speaker selections we are faced with when designing component systems. If any of you (our customers) were around us just hanging out, you would know what I'm talking about...Hoss can vouch for me on this one. I dream about cone materials, voice coil manipulations, massive spider…

im looking to upgrade from my previous setup which consisted of 2 AQ sdc2.5 15's and an AQ1200D, basically i want to get louder, but i have the same limited space i had before. the dimensions i have to work with are 47" wide, 15" deep, and 35" high. i will be using an AQ2200D to power this system. i mainly listen to decaf music or other rap/hiphop 90% of the time, other 10% is rock/metal. so a sub that likes to be tuned low is what im going after. my budget is 500-600 bucks tops. im just having a hard time making a decision because i want to make sure this setup will get louder... i dunno if i want 2 15's that can take more power, or a single 18, or a IA DP 21, or 4 12's.…

  14. I was initially going to run the Peerless SLS's to start out with but since i am limited on area for midrange and they are currently not in the best locations i decided to go with a dome for the off axis response and sealed chamber. That will be either the Dayton RS52, or the MB-Q 95-6814 (2" Ti dome) until i can afford the Dyn MD140 Anyway i have heard a few people say that they don't really play low enough/the SLS won't play WELL high enough, i was looking into the Dayton RS225 8" mids. They seem to be very nice and since i am constantly ordering from parts express, its the easy and cheap solution A member on another forum has a mint set of DLS Ultimate Iridiums for 175…

How would you best characterize the IXL series of subs? Made to be accurate? Made to get loud? Somewhere in the middle? Reason that I'm asking is I'm looking for a sub for a small sealed box to integrate with a system built with musical accuracy in mind.

He He. Big thanks to Aaron!! Mark, I must say, you really outdo yourself. A $20 driver that performs like drivers five times the cost AND you have the audacity to include form fitting grills AND hardware. Mach 5 Audio, the pinnacle of the poor man's music! being broke never sounded so good. Now, on to the goodies. What is this mess on my driver?

Since my RCA pictures and speaker wire comments pretty much started a fire last time, here is the official thread to either put up or shut up. I will send out a 20 foot piece of Omni speaker CABLE (no interconnects like I have, as they are just too expensive to send out like that). Twenty feet is more than enough to swap out one side of a stereo with. What I advise doing is only putting this wire on one side of your system, whether it be car or home, and take a listen to the difference. Reply to this topic only if you wish to be on the demo list. I will pay for shipping to a person, and then when that person gets the wire they pay shipping to the next person, and so-on a…

  21. We're selling the heck out of these long-awaited amps. But we haven't had a chance to actually hear any of the 2-channel amps on any subs yet. We stock the 200.2, 400.2, and 600.2. The amps have been very, very well received. But all our sales so far have been over-the-counter sales. Haven't actually had a chance to see how they compare to say the XTA series from SoundStream that we had prior to the release of the AutoSound amplifiers. Any dissappointments or surprises with the ASA amps? Any expected availability date on the ASA 1000.1 and 2000.1 amps?
