Subwoofers / Speakers

Discuss Subwoofers And All Aspects Of Speakers here.

Is it bad on the subwoofers if I'm running one amp on each sub? The subs are in the same ported box and i know to set the gains on the amp relatively close to one another. Is this a bad idea?

Need to build a new box for my suv. Im running two RF t212d4 on two rf t1500bdcp. I want to go subs up port back now that im not in a trunk car. Does anyone have experience with what box size/tuning/port area these subs excel in? Right now they are in 2 cube box tuned to 35 and do ok, but im sure they have way more in them. I will post the t/s if anyone would be kind enough to see what any programs might spit out as best box size. Vehicle is 04 dodge durango. Thanks in advance Power Handling (Watts RMS): 1200 Watts RMS 2400 Watts Max Voice Coil Diameter: 4.0" (101mm) Magnet Weight (oz): 292 oz. (8.28 kg.) …

ok I want to upgrade my system. I'm either going for 2 fi sp4 18" in a big ported box or 8 sundown sa15 in a forth order. I know they're really different systems but what would you choose??? (not planning to compete, just a daily groundpounder) thanks for the advice

I currently have an Alpine type r 15 on a kicker zx750.1. I have it in a 3.75ft net box tuned to 35 hz and it gets pretty loud and sounds decent. My choices of a new sub were a SSA Icon 15, FI SSD 15, and an AA Choas 15. The new sub would go into the same old box but now run off a T1000-1bdcp. I want to know which sub would sound better off my amp. I want it to be louder than my type R and sound good as well.

  9. Sorry for a long explanation (shorter one below long one), but this is potentially a great find for me, and I could really use some advice... long version: Today while perusing the world of Craigslist, hoping to stumbleupon a rare gem, I found a used 2005 RE XXX 15" in what looks to be a pretty decent box. After communication with the seller, and getting more pictures, I notice that there is some sort of blemish on the surround. Turns out it is something he referred to as "goop" which he put on the surround after it was "rubbed by his dogs bone". At first i was skeptical of the story but i could see the bone in one of the CL pics and the sub is down firing. So its believa…

I'm buying new speakers for front stage. I'm pretty set on getting alpines to match my power pack. I've been looking into the Type R 6.5" components but I was wondering if it's worth it to spend the extra money to get the Type X. I've heard good and bad about both so I was wondering if you guys had any personal experience with either one of them. Thanks guys

I am thinking of either doing 2 10's or 1 12. It's going in a trunk car. Honda prelude. Small trunk :/ Space I have for box = Height - 16. Width - 16. Length - 28(side to side) Watt is best for this much space? The 2 10's(witch are going to be 2 xcons) Or 1 12(1 Zcon) If the 2 10 xcons are doable I am going to be powering them with a crescendo bc3500. If the zcon is possible I am also planning on powering it with the crescendo bc3500 (with caution of course don't want to blow it) or would the bc2000D be enough?

I am looking for Experienced suggestions and/or advice. I currently have a Kicker L7 15 but I want to upgrade to a louder Subwoofer but with good Sound Quality. I would like to upgrade to 1(one) 2,200+ RMS sub, but the most important for me is SQ (sound quality). I mostly listen to hispanic music (in case this helps). I'm completly unsure of what's best, Please feel free to recommend any Sub that meets my demands. Thanks to all in advance.

Ive been looking at subs for a week and im trying to get the best sounding sub for the money so ive narrowed it down to the SKAR VVX-12 and the Sundown SA-12. I want some hard hitting bass but also great sound quality, durability and reliability. These subs seem to be exactly the same and ive heard that Jacob from sundown designed both of them?? What are their differences if there are any? they both seem to be of great quality

Okay i have a question. how do i wire a sub in parallel and how do i wire a sub in series. and how does it effect it in ohms law. Like if i wire my 4 ohm parallel that puts it at 2 ohms. so thats what the amp output would be at 2ohms. So if i have 2 4ohm woofers and i wire them both parallel that would make it 1ohm correct?

Noob thinking out loud here. So in a ported enclosure, is the sub having to work "less" near port frequency? The sub moves less, but what does that mean from a power handling standpoint (if anything)? Is it easier for a sub to take power near the tuning frequency? I believe I've read about "thermal" power handling. Does that mean there is another unit of measure for power handling? I could be way off, but from what I recall, it seems thermal is constant with no regard for enclosure, but another aspect of power handling does take enclosure into consideration. Hope I'm coming close to conveying what I'm trying to say here lol. Also, I hear people talking about "efficient"…

Going to be running either four 18 fi bl or 15 inch. Was looking into crescendo PWX 6.5 and their super tweeter. but also want to know what some other options are out there. WIll be running in a 4 door tahoe 2004 z71, so standard would be four 6.5s in the doors and two tweeters up on the pillar. any advice as to other companies to research would be appreciated.

So i plugged my Icon 10 D2 into WinIsd according to the specs on SSAs site. For some reason it says the best response is going to come from roughly .5 cu ft ported. The optimal suggested on the site is 1.5 cu ft. which is what i built and it sounds great. Of course i wanted to play with the port sizing and the cu ft a little bit and see if I can do better. Are the specs correctly listed? Do i need more than what the site lists to get the program to work correctly? I dont think i could even fit the sub in such a small box!

on my sundown sa 8 v.2 the dust cap gets really hot? is this caused by the voice coil being hot also why does it tend to clip (bottom out) when its straight up more then it does down or at a 45 degree angle? i have this in a .28 cubic foot sealed box in a apk 2500 watt amp and i cant figure out how to get it to sound crisp and clean

  22. Over the past few days I've noticed my dcons bass excursion decline at random times and now it is at stable very low volume compared to how it used to sound. I've only been using it for a bout a year running on a crescendo 1000c4, it used to sound badass and shook my whole car up now its just a dull rumble. I don't think I blew it out because I've been running it at the correct wattage thru my amp and had it professionally installed and thought SSA was known for it quality woofers. can someone please help me out?

I'm stuck on what 12" sub i wanna buy for my truck. This will be my first system. Im trying to decide between Skar VVX 12, Sundown SA 12, and the Gcon 12. Ive heard great reviews for all of these. But i just cant decide. They all sound GREAT. I guess the deciding factor will be how durable and reliable they are on top of what other peoples opinions are. Any advice would be great!

  25. So i just got my Zcon 18 installed in my 6.7 cu. ft. Net Box. it is tuned at 34hz with 112 sq in port. Currently its running off US Amps MD1 (1200rms) and gets pretty **** loud. This is a Great sub, well built and very good looking. not quite as good sq as my Stereo Integrity Mag V3 but its close. (that could also be due to the higher tuning as the mag was in a 28hz box.) Im wondering, would it be worth it to double the power to 2400watts? for a daily application would it really be much louder? the sub already moves pretty good as is. If i upgraded it would be to this: Audioque AQ2200D ($430) DC Power SPX270 or XP300 Alternator ($590 or $500) Kinetic HC2000 to replace sto…
