im just about ready to pull the trigger on a Focus Hatch and im really debating putting 4 18" MJ's in it (sealed). ive been wanting an SQ leaning S Q L setup for a while. The enclosure however would have to have 2 of the 18's firing up and 2 firing down. Does anyone know if this style enclsosure would even work? im not too framiliar with wave cancellation and other technical aspects but im just trying to get a feel if this idea is plausible. its this same concept however I would be building the box myself: http://cgi.ebay.com/4-HOLE-10-CHAMBERED-CO...1QQcmdZViewItem ALSO ive searched just about every MJ 18 thread on the forum and im still trying to get more feedback on ho…

Ok well I had this all wrote and and stupid me closed the tab out when I was looking up some info. So I shall start again. Overview: Ok, I'm planning on getting back into audio (not that I left for long). My past installs have all been geared toward being the loudest possible. My new plan is to try and make my setup geared toward SQ. I'm thinking about doing a 3 way active front stage. I still planning a sub stage but that is not what I'm worried about. I'm just not real sure on how exactly to get my front stage up and running. Now that you have an idea on whats going on, on to some questions. I plan on piecing my front stage together instead of buying a "kit" o…

Hello, I am looking for a 12" subwoofer to put into a ported box. I had a Alpine type s in a sealed box but after turning it up while listening to bass cannon it busted. Right now I am looking for a new sub but am completely lost as to what brand I should buy. I am using a kenwood x700-5 its a 5 channel amp that pushes 500w rms @2 ohms. I am kind of on a budget so it can't be over board. I was thinking $175 max for the sub alone. My friend is getting a RE Audio SEX12D4 for $140 I personally I have never heard anything about them. My other friend just got a 12" alpine type R and he says its amazing. I guess I could just buy one of those 2 but I refuse to buy something with…

  7. Since October I have blown 2 subs using the same enclosure and amp. I have the right electrical to back it all up. Originally the sub was a 10 inch xcon which I popped mid November then sent it to SPLaudio for a recone, received it back mid December and now I popped it again. it is in a 1.4 cube box tuned to 32hz. All gains set right and all bass boosters on my stereo are at 0.. any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Hi I have a 2008 BMW 328i Sedan with the standard Hi-Fi stereo system (1" tweets, 4" midranges, 8" midbass) I been looking around E90Post to see what people have been replacing their components with and found that most put Focal, MB Quart, Morel or Earthquake (for the midbass). However, after looking around other places, I saw this brand that calls themselves the best when it comes to SQ? The brand is Hybrid Audio and they have a bunch of trophies from SQ competitions. I want to put the very best as I drive this car a lot and dont want to be worrying about upgrading in the future. This is the "best" they offer = Legatia L841-3 Pro Component Speaker Set Exactly what I need…

Well this is just something that had been laying around a friends house and was given to me to use. I don't know much about it other than it's a 15" and has dual 4 ohm coils. The person who had it before me couldn't really tell me much about who made it or anything but I figured I'd post some pics and share it with you guys. Who knows maybe someone has seen one? I haven't had a chance to see it in action but when I do I'll let you know what I think. EDITED: Actually 4 ohm coils not 3, my mistake.

  12. The Fi BTL NEO that I ordered has a 2ohm Re rating of 1.8 so wiring in parallel i should be at .9ish ohms before possible box rise and any damping factors. I bought the AA 3800.1D and just purchased a North Star AGM31 for the back. I know my box is built to spec, tuned at 32hz, braced like a champ and stiff as humanly possible...here is my question/concern... I just want to understand as much as i can without getting overly technical on ohm's and voltage vs impedance and it's variance...As a daily listener I'm just looking more about what power I will be feeding this sub while wired to "1" ohm around 13.5v...I just hope I don't fall into some 3 ohm situation after al…

Ok heres the deal. Im getting ready to sell my Assassins to go with a different setup. Im especially intereseted in the MJ18. After playing around with different box sizes, I have calculated that the biggest box I can get out of the Maxima is about 8.5 cubes NET while sitll being able to take it in and out of the car. What would you guys do with this space? I have a few otions. I can port two Mj's with about 4 cubes each after all displacement. two 4 inch ports would be used. Will this choke the 18s too much? I can seal each MJ in 4 cubes or less. Or I can do a single ported MJ in about 8 cubes. With a dual setup (4 ohm version)Each MJ will recieve 500 watts. With only …

I'm planning to purchase a 3500D I also plan to purchase a new sub for it in the near future. I'd like to hear some opinions on which I should buy a fully loaded Fi BTL 15" or a DC LVL 5 15" I debated on a Nightshade 15 as well but they are not rated for this much power daily, maybe when the monster is released I'll switch over to a sundown sub. Thanks

I was wondering what people thought about subs facing upward in a sedan trunk. I'm planning on getting a 12" icon but I wouldn't mind having the 15". Problem is that I don't think the trunk in my 97 corolla would be tall enough having the sub standing up. It would be going in a sealed box. I feel like there would be more trunk rattle if I laid the sub down. I see videos where the sub is literally firing into the trunk from an inch away. Would lying the sub make it harder to hear in the front of the car? It seems like there would be a greater chance for cancellation or the sound waves would just get bunched up between the trunk and cone. Separate question but i've always b…

I was browsing the local car audio store when I saw one of these with a neo magnet. I looking for any info anybody has on this. I know they are similar to a TC3000, but thats about it. Dual 4 ohm FS 39hz QTS .643 Vas .832cuft Xmax 25mm SPL 85db 1w/1m 1000w rms $500 from the store. I looking for basically how they sound, what kind of driver they are, and if you think they are worth that kind of cash. Help is appreciated. Thank you

  21. I found a 15inch zcon sort of locally for a good price but I dont have enough experience to tell if for sure it is. I will post the pictures of the sub, just dont want to get burnt as its a good deal and kind of seems as if someone could pass it off as another sub. From me comparing pics, the surrounds are the only thing that stuck out to me in the pics between all the ssa lines. I am on my phone now but will post pics when I get home. There is no pic of the dustcap and thats what has me wondering about it.

  24. I noticed that FM signal (radio) songs play with a lot more bass, and I mean A LOT more. When I listen to the exact same song using my iphone, some songs sound dead. I can tell there is a huge difference. I understand some radio stations boost their signal or use EQ, but why is the difference so noticeable?
