Ok so i have recently traded and got a DC XL-18 M1, im not familiar with subs(never ran a DC). Im trying to come with with a good enclosure and will be using aeroports. (<- Saves me some hatch space for stuff) I did see that the DC site says 5.5 cf net for the 18's, but im not sure how to determine how much port i would need for it. My goal is for Daily with good SPL. Really i want it be loud lol. I tune at 40hz because it gives me MY perfect medium of daily and SPL(Thats just me) for the occasional comp. The formats are burps and the other is Music average for 2 different orgs. So i was thinking about going 5.5cf net with maybe a single 8" aero, but again im not…

I have narrowed my search to a 12 sub to the either a single FI SSD or a Sundown SA 12. I plan on using a ZX 1000 at a 2ohm load in the back of a suburban. if you were in my shoes and needed a 12 sub to run in a sealed inclosure and had about 300.00 to spend on a sub which would you chose and why. Feel free to suggest other brands. thanks

I am working on an SQ-oriented install and am trying to figure out where I want everything laid out. Anyway, is there any major drawback someone can come up with if I were to fire the subs up (sealed box)? I know the only true way to find out is to try it and see, but the box dimensions will be different depending on the direction (an I don't have time to build 2-4 boxes and find out). Any quick tips or ideas are greatly appreciated. ML

Just to keep everyone in the loop, my shipment is arriving tomorrow so folks who participated in the IXL-18.4 preorder will be receiving their unit(s) early next week. MLI-65's and MJ-18 4 Ohm units are also in the shipment so they too will be out the door. Oh, and a few goodies came in as well... Thanks for tuning in, Mark

  7. I was trying to spec out a large enclosure car audio build. I am working in the range of greater than 13ft^3, but less than 14ft^3(depending on speaker displacement and thickness of mounting. I am unable to respec the box dimensions. I was wondering if this box would be capable of working with two IB315's or if this is too little of a volume for proper operation. I am looking at a QTC of between .735 and .75 depending on just how much space I lose to sub, sound proofing, and wood displacement(not sure if this calculation would stay the same with two subs sharing the same volume?). My desire for an IB setup is low power requirement needs, and using the box as built. Thanks…

I am not trying to make this complicated but from what i've been told in the past, you never want to wire 2 different speakers together of different resistance. Conclusion would be one sub would get more power than the other. "If" that's true, then doesn't that mean- For 3 Dual 2 ohm subs, if they were all wired in parallel, wouldnt one of the 3 subs receive less power than the other 2? My thinking - take all 3 subs, wired in parallel - 3 1 ohm coils left. parallel those, 1 0.5 ohm coil and 1 1 ohm coil, 1 ohm coil receive less power, correct? If this is true, if i want a 3 sub combination off of 1 amp at a 1ohm load, would i need 2 dual 2s and 1 dual 1 version? Wiring …

Hey guys, I'm on the market for a new set of comps. I'm currently running some old-school green Infinity Kappas that are good, but it's about time to retire them (they're about 10 years old). I plan on auditioning sets before purchasing, but some other viewpoints would be appreciated. Specifics Enclosure - custom sealed kick pods (will be having them made soon) - I have Q-forms kick "pods" now, but they aren't enclosed - so it makes my current set sound wimpy. Size - 5.25" set Tweeter - preferably silk, but I'm not opposed to metal domed tweets Amp - MTX Thunder 4320 front channels (around 80 watts per side) Music - I listen to dynamic, melodic metal the most, from acou…

I am looking for Experienced suggestions and/or advice. I currently have a Kicker L7 15 but I want to upgrade to a louder Subwoofer but with good Sound Quality. I would like to upgrade to 1(one) 2,200+ RMS sub, but the most important for me is SQ (sound quality). I mostly listen to hispanic music (in case this helps). I'm completly unsure of what's best, Please feel free to recommend any Sub that meets my demands. Thanks to all in advance.

  15. So i just got my Zcon 18 installed in my 6.7 cu. ft. Net Box. it is tuned at 34hz with 112 sq in port. Currently its running off US Amps MD1 (1200rms) and gets pretty **** loud. This is a Great sub, well built and very good looking. not quite as good sq as my Stereo Integrity Mag V3 but its close. (that could also be due to the higher tuning as the mag was in a 28hz box.) Im wondering, would it be worth it to double the power to 2400watts? for a daily application would it really be much louder? the sub already moves pretty good as is. If i upgraded it would be to this: Audioque AQ2200D ($430) DC Power SPX270 or XP300 Alternator ($590 or $500) Kinetic HC2000 to replace sto…

  16. Im looking to upgrade my current set up. Ive narrowed down my choices to ether a DC level 3 15, FI SSD 15 with cooling and flatwind coil (which ive heard are comparable to a level 4), and an Incriminator Audio Lethal Injection 15. Ive seen a lot of bs saying that the DC subs dont have good quality soft parts and am looking for some people that have ran these subs before that might be able to give me some insight to help my decision. Basically im looking for the best sub on the lows that can take a daily beating. I have a 3.3 cubic ft box tuned to 34hz in my BMW 330ci and will be pushing around 1100rms daily from my audiopipe 1500d but will be upgrading the amp in the …

ok this is my situation i currently have a 2012 Mercedes C350 and just purchased audison fronts and audison rears , audison bit one , and a hertz hx300d 12" sub 600 watt rms 1200 peak all powered by a audison voce 5.1k 5 channel amp that has 1000 watt rms at 2 ohms for subwoofer. So i had it installed at the shop and the box was a ported custom built box with the ports on top and the sub firing towards the trunk and had the amp rack installed behind the folded down back seat. I got it back and the bass just wasnt entering the cabin at all and the rear speakers arent in the deck but in the back doors and after alot of reaserch i found that everyone says mercedes trunks e…

  19. Greetings, This is actually my first thread/post on SSA, so first off I would like to say hello and any information that could be provided would be greatly appreciated. I have been a member of the CA.com forum for several years now, but as I have matured I am getting rather tired of the amount of stupid crap you have to sort through to get the information desired. My plan is to do a typical blow through design in my avalanche as is the norm in this type of vehicle. As a point of reference i will give some of the other equipment I plan on running, and some goals to help with opinions as i hope they start rolling in. I will be running a saz4500d for the substage (possi…

Been talking to Kevin from DIY Cable about the Anarchy mids and found out that he has a 4 ohm version designed. He has not been able to get enough orders to make a production run, but he is trying to give it a go. He needs 150 drivers preordered, a tall task I know but hopefully between all the car and other sites we can get it done. Here is the link: http://www.diycable.com/main/product_info.php?cPath=24&products_id=538 Now order some!!

my friend and i made a ported box with 2 separate chambers ... 1 chamber for each sub ... each has its own portl .... for some reason in one of the chambers a flapping noise is coming out of the port ... the other sub seems fine and no flap is coming out ... each sub is wired independently as well ... we took the sub out and vacuumed the chamber and the noise is still there ... what could this be? ... is it possible that there is something wrong with the sub causing it to flap? .... the noise fluctuates with the frequency ... ex lower frequency will create a harder slower flap

  22. So I have an 08 Grand Prix GXP currently with one 12" xcon in a khaotic enclosure and it beats hard and sounds good. Powered by a stetsom 1.5k. But I havent done a project in a while and I kinda want more bass in my car. Recently added memphis pf 6.5's and 6x9's powered by my p400-4. I found 2 12" 1500 series dd's a guy has for sale with a custom built box with 6.5 cf for $225. Would this beat harder than my xcon. I know its a good deal but if it dont get me anywhere no need for the buy. If this isnt a upgrade let me know what you guys think would be a better 2 sub combination than my single xcon or even a better single combo just figured might as well throw another sub i…

Looking for the best option for sound quality loud. forum keeps eediting S Q L Looking for a 10" for a sealed enclosure I have laying around that is .66 cubic feet and will be ran with 500 watts at 2ohm. So far my options what I have found through my research, is there anything else not on my radar? Out of these options what would be best? I might consider a 12" if it will take up less than 1 cubic foot. Image dynamics ID or IDQ SSA dcon or maybe gcon (enough power?) Sundown EV or maybe SA (enough power?) DC level 2 Alpine type s As far as the ID vs IDQ, the ID has a much lower FS, what difference would this make? I want som…

  24. I've been looking for some 8s that have a very shallow mounting depth, to use in my doors to get some good midbass. So far all I've come up with are the JL TW5, and they're 13 inch. I'd really like to find something closer to 8 inch. I know that I could use deeper ones and glass the doors out, but then I think I would always be rubbing on them with my leg while driving. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd appreciate them.

I'm looking for midbass speakers for an install. Processing: more than likely a minidsp Power: will be chosen once the midbass is picked out. Midrange speakers: TB W3 or W4, so I imagine 300-400 Hz is the LP for midbass Depth: 3", although I might can stretch it to 4". It's going ON the doors of a Mercedes W124, I'm unsure how much I can cut into the door and go back, so the shallower, the better. Overkill is the main goal here, that's how the owner does everything on the car The midbass will be attached to the door by means of a plywood "box" and vented in the door. High-ish output is desired and this had me thinking about a pair of 6.5-7" midbass / door. The …
