I currently have a Chevy Cobalt LS Coupe and am looking for a new set of component speakers to place in my doors that are $250 or less. I am going to place the tweeter very close to the speaker about 4-6 inches away and the woofer will be in the stock location. I am going to deaden the doors, at a minimum around the speakers, and I want an equal listening experience for passenger and driver so the tweets will be aimed at the center console at listening level. So in terms of off/on axis performance, I am pretty sure this is considered off axis. The woofer size for my doors is 6.5" and the tweeter size just needs to be less than 2 inches as a custom mount is going to b…

ok so until i decide to go with the wall in my civic coupe and have enough money i got some new subs from scott (former engineer from RE) and he made me some SE hybrids which are SX's pretty much,i got them for 360 with shipping so i thought it was a pretty good deal.I had him custom make them into dual4 so that i could run them off my nine.1 for now until i decide to get a bigger monoblock or just wait for the whole wall thing when i have enough money.Let me know what you guys think. http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h59/n8te81/newsubs1.jpg http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h59/n8te81/newsubs2.jpg

Ok so i have narrowed down my search to JL 10w1v3, sundown e10, or id10v3. They are all very similiar in price. Please don't bash jl saying they overpriced and the such. I would like real opinions on these subs. I have .63ft^3 before displacement for each sub. There is no other box or anything like that. This is what i have and im gonna use. I have a jl xd 500/3 that I can use. That amp would be fine for the id10's or the jl. The sundowns would need a bigger amp i realize that. All of this is in a 2007 ram 1500 quad cab. I have a prefab atrend bbox under the rear seats. I know this site is very sundown and ssa heavy in recomendations but the dcon is out of my price rang…

After hearing many good things about eD on certain forums (cough ICIX) I finally broke down and ordered a 13Ov.2...luckily I caught one during the $70 promotion, so I definitely didn't pay full price. It arrived today (still waiting on the sealed 1.25cu box) and I decided to look into the company some more...came across this forum after looking at some ascendant audio products-lets just say that I know why you guys hold a grudge against eD now. I haven't listened to the sub yet, but I'm sure it'll be a HUGE improvement over the generic 10" that's in my car right now...are these things really that bad? I would have bought an assasin 12" from AA had SSA not stopped carry…

I found a good priced amp for the LI 12 I'm getting soon and was hoping to get some feed back on if it is a good buy or not. Phoenix Gold RSd 600.1 (RSd600.1) (rsd6001) Mono Subwoofer Amps Car Amplifiers Car Audio Car Audio, Video, & GPS Navigation - Sonic Electronix The link is what I was looking at. So if I were to get that amp and get a DVC 4 ohm LI would I wire it like http://a248.e.akamai.net/pix.crutchfield.com/ca/learningcenter/car/subwoofer_wiring/1DVC_4-ohm_mono.jpg <That? Any help and feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks, Jeremy

Don't hate the BOSS... gf wanted a small system, I'm building her one lol. Regardless, I can't find much info on the sub besides what's listed on the main site and sonicelectronix. BOSS AUDIO SYSTEMS | ENTERTAIN YOURSELF and Boss CX8 - 8" Subwoofers - Sonic Electronix Sub will be powered by only 70wrms at 4 ohm. so question is: what tuning should I do the enclosure for the sub? anyone have any ideas on port length? also airspace recommendations on an 8? She listens to gaga/la roux and ke$ha a lot. I'm honestly not that experienced doing my own enclosures and would prefer help of the forum over me trying to do it myself haha. just an fyi, I am always open to free enclos…

Hey guys. I finally blew my alpine type R 15 after 4 years. Had my alpine mrd m1005 running to it in a sealed enclosure. It was loud and got 141.4 db at a local comp I did just for fun to see how loud I could get. Time for a new 15 to replace it. I'm wondering if anyone knows a good 15" that compares to the type r or better that will run off that 1000 rms nicely. Many of the subs I like seem to be made for ported enclosures. I'm not against ported box but can't afford to have one built right now and I always liked the sound quality from my sealed. I want to go for a ported box in the near future but want a well built one with low port noise and tuned. Does anyone have su…

Well guys (and gals)... Sorry for the not-so-punctual update. But I've been busy...busy marveling at this thing ... First of all I'd like to thank Mike for the amazing opportunity to demo such a great subwoofer. Now, to get things started... WOW. I opened the box, and that is all I said. This thing is massive, especially for a 12. Obviously, with quad stacked mags...and the gigantic motor...but pics do not do it justice. The clearance on this basket is a thing of glory...I mean view you get of the coil and top of the former...an the dual spiders is simply amazing. (get used to this word) I was quite happy to get my hands on it, especially since I was going to be the fir…

So I currently have a 12" SSA Icon on a sundown sae 1200 in 2 cu ft enclosure tuned to 32 hz. I'm wanting to try something new and came up with the idea to recone it to an 18 and run it in a 4.5-5 cu ft sealed enclosure. I know it will have a flatter response but am I going to see a nice increase in output? I would assume because of the large cone area difference. I thought about trying a different sub but I like my icon and have always wanted to try a 18; and it'll be cheaper than purchasing a different sub. Will I be disappointed? Can anyone point out differences like pros and con's, lol. Any help is appreciated

I can't speak for the reliability of the AQ sub yet, as I just got one of them in. But I can say that you definitely get your moneys worth with the HDC3 series. I was surprised when there was a box at the door since I haven't even received notification that one of my subs shipped, but man was I happy and amazed when I opened the box. I ordered a pair of HDC310's for a build of mine and figured they would be a nice little subs for a small build. But now I'm considering trying these out in my SUV. This thing is HUGE. I have never liked small subs until now. BL 12 VS AQ HDC310

Car is a 2004 Chrysler Crossfire, I'm gonna drop an FI Q 10" or 12" (prob 12") in the trunk powered by a Sundown SAX-1200D or if not then an Audioque 1200D. I need to upgrade the 6.5" speakers and tweeters in the doors and was looking for some feedback from people who have some experience with them. They will be powered by the stock 6-channel amplifier. I will be disconnecting the stock 6.5" sub woofers and I can (hopefully) bridge 4 channels into the 2 speakers and the remaining 2 channels will power the tweeters. Im aiming for a SQ setup. Also I will be putting in a Pioneer MVH-P7300 head unit. So with all that information which of these speakers is a good choice: …

Right now I've got an Ascendant Audio Atlas 15, and about 400 - 500RMS to play with. I am thinking of upgrading to the D2 later this year. My question is, on limited power, is the D2 still an upgrade?? The Atlas is no slouch down low and does pretty darn well off of 400 RMS, 18mm xmax. The box I plan on using is going to be a 4.5 cubic foot ABC box tuned to 33hz.

I know this thread is a teaser because we don't have the pictures uploaded yet, but as of last night we finished up our latest HT. The system includes a Denon 7.1 receiver, Denon up-converting DVD player, Panasonic 1080p HD projector, HDMI cabling, 20 Hidden Audio transducers, 124" 16:9 screen, Lutron automated lighting, MX900 remote, 2400 watt amplifier, and four BM 12's ported to 30 Hz in a 12 ft^3 box. The neat thing about using Denon receivers is that the upper models (this customer has a 987 model) have a 7 band EQ per channel, where each channel can be EQ'd independantly or the same EQ setting applied to all channels. The receiver is also super user-friendly and v…

I'm looking at putting two digital design 8's (500 or 600 series) under my back seat. My truck is a 2004 chevy ext. cab. I was told by the customer service guy at digital designs, that 8's would be better due to air space. Does anyone have a similar setup in a 2002-2006 chevy/gmc ext cab? I listened to one guys truck that had one 8 under the center console of an F-250 crew cab, it sounded good to me. I'm not looking to be heard a block away, but want something nice. Also, I was quoted $200-$225 for a custom built box at an audio store (in OKC) to hold the two 8's. Does this seem reasonable? Has anyone had any dealings with digital designs, if so how did you like i…

Okay, I am a SQ person, so I'm not necessarily hip on loudness. SO, my buddy calls me up today and he wants me to look for something LOUD. Three 12s or Two 15s at least. Will be run by a pair of JL 1000/1s. First off, he gave me a budget of $450 for drivers. I need something that will fit in about 10 cubes, no more. THis is of course net displacement. He care nothing of sound guality. He just wants to get loud. Street beating, no fart cannons please. So I leave it in the hands of you, those who like it cranked. Don't let me down! His previous install was two 12W6v2s and they got pretty loud, but not enough for him.

Okay so I just got a sundown ev3 10 installed in my 04 accord coupe. I had a box custom built for it. The box is my first ported box so Im just wondering if this is how it should sound or not. I noticed while playing a few songs that the higher notes that my sealed setups hit well weren't really being played by this sub. So I found a test tone sweep that swept from 25-150hz and played it. Sure enough the sub falls on its face around 50hz, whereas the sealed sub in my gfs car doesn't start to die off until around 70hz. Any help would be appreciated because I just don't like how it sounds. It does however absolutely slam the lows. The setup is as follows: HU: Ke…
