I ordered my 2 15" MKIIs yesterday to replace my 2 15" Lethal Injections. They'll be here Wednesday. So excited, the specs on these seem like some of the most well designed subs I've ever seen. The response curve on these in a sealed box is almost completely flat from 20 hz up to 100 hz. I'll post an initial review shortly after I put them in my box.

I've been set on trying to get a AE AV-12x, but they are so far behind that, I don't think I'll be able to get one anytime soon. Does anyone have any suggestions for a sub that works best in a small, sealed enclosure. i don't have an amp yet, so power isn't of concern, and I'm looking for something with great SQ, but I do like to crank it up once in a while. thanks for any input.

Subwoofers work by moving air with the cone creating waves that move around in the box and create bass. But what really makes one subwoofer better than the other? Two different twelves for example. One low end one high end. Both have same cone area, both hit the same frequencies(lets assume). From my understanding all that really makes one better than the other is how much excursion it has. But that really can't be all can it? Sorry if this is a dumb question... I haven't been able to sleep lately:p

I changed amps on my Front stage recently and it sounds like absolute garbage now. I went from ~100wrms to over 200 on tap (not sure if I'm using all of it) and it's sooooo muddy now. I thought the amp was distorting so I turned the gain down til it sounded decent but it's way quieter than.before. I had to turn my high pass up to about 100hz (from 80, but I partially expected this) and aim the tweeters at the floor to get it to sound acceptable. To top it off...it isn't even louder. I'm under the assumption that my drivers can't handle the power but other than that I'm stumped.

I've decided that my days of trying to rattle windows and shake off mirrors are over, plus I get tired of having to take the box out whenever I need the room. Now all I'm wanting is a little bottom end to my music. What I've been looking at is some of the cheaper, smaller subs on Parts Express. I'm trying to figure out if it would be better to try and fit a single sub up front somewhere (under the seat, etc) or do multiple subs in the back in the spare tire well? The only thing that concerns me about subs in the spare tire well is that since they are so small and so far back, there won't be much output all the way up front (maybe this thinking is wrong ). I plan on …

Finally getting all the pieces together for my build. The only missing piece(s) to the puzzle is the subwoofer(s). I will be attempting to go with a 3-way fully active front stage which will consist of Scanspeak D2004/6020 tweets, Dayton RS75-4 midranges and Peerless 830883 Midbasses powered by either a JL XD600/6 or Sundown sax100.4&125.2 ... I'm not necessarily going for a strictly SQ setup, but i am trying to build a well balanced and accurate system. With my tweets on-axis in the a-pillars and midrange/midbass in the kicks, along with plenty of eqing, i hope to achieve quite good imaging for everyday listening. I want to keep this system for a very long time and e…

I have been trying to plan out a complete system for my new 2011 malibu. I own 2 sa12s so those will be my sub stage. Amp I have my eye on a crescendo bc2000. Slight electrical upgrades will follow My situation... I want a clean front stage, my systems to date have all been drowned out by bass and I don't want that for this build. Although I'm not willing to do any heavy modifications.. I will be using stock locations. Doors take a 6.5 and there is a tweeter cutout in the pillar so a component set is what I'll do. Rear speaker cut outs are 6 x 9s I don't plan to seal off the trunk from the cab at this time.. maybe after I've got a system in there and play with it but I d…

I currently have a 5" focal mid range in the front doors, two soundstream tws.4 on the front dash. in the rear is a rockford fosgate prime component set with the woofers on the rear deck and tweeters on the top of the rear window. I'm not pleased with how the front sounds so I need something better up there. I have a four channel amp that does about 75 each channel and a two channel that does 125 each channel. I was thinking something along the lines of a midbass and new tweeter in the front, then possible using the focal mids and tws.4 tweeters for the rear. My doors have no bass at all and overall it is not loud enough. I'm on a budget so used and low price is what …

Hello forum! I'm fairly new to car audio and even newer to this forum in particular, but there appears to be tons of great information here from numerous people with years of car audio expertise so I figured I'd start here for help. I am wanting to upgrade/modify my current subwoofer set up to create a cleaner appearance in my vehicle and perhaps increase the "loudness" factor as well. I currently have 2 RE audio SR 10's running at 2ohm's at roughly 1200 watts rms in my 96 gmc sierra. The box has been placed where my center console used to be and I really enjoy it there as it allows me to keep most of my backseat. What I'd like to do is replace the 2 10's with a single…

So I have an alpine v12 707 amp 2 channel which does 70rms at 4 ohms. Im just generally looking into components and these seem legit. Has anyone heard them? Are they any good? They will be for my front stage and I'm not sure if I'll be running a rear stage yet. Also, will 70rms be enough for them? rated at 85rms. I just dont want them to distort once I turn the volume up. (obviously not full blast)

Goodmorning everybody, I just ordered my first 2 ever Sundown Nightshade v.2 15s. Which are going to be powered by (2) Saz-2500. I ordered a midgate box for the 15's from this site. Here's a link so u can get an idea. http://www.carforce1.com/popup_image.php?pID=123&osCsid=ff95f7f7feb2370cf60b02e13253aef1 My question is 3.5 cubic feet of space in that box enough to really enjoy hard thumping bass. And yes I know the pic isn't for 15's in addition the port on mine is bigger than the one in the pic. N no raping please this is my first build. Last system I had was Liberty City Flea Market brands.

I am lookin to replace my current single Diamond D3 10 with a single or possibly two 12's but dont want to buy run of the mill subs (ie JL Rockford Alpine) and would like to explore other options. I will try to give as much info as i can. 1st - My current set up is - Pioneer head unit - that will be replaced also MB Quart Ref 6.25 MB Quart Onyx 4.80 Diamond D3 10 Kicker ZX1000.1 2nd - I listen to a wide range of music and perfer SQ to SPL. 3rd - Even though i have a good amount of room to use, i would prefer NOT to use the entire cargo area for a speaker box but understand i have to give to get so i am willing give up some room if needed. 4th - Budget i would like …

I will be building my first ported box soon and was wondering about port location? I will be using a box design that i found on SSA website for 2 Sundown SA 12's with a kicker ZX1000.1 at a 2ohm load. See the link..... 12" DUAL PORTED 4.0 ft^3 t 30 hertz My link My question is , If i use this box and move the port to the outside but leave it at the same end will it change the tuning, i would think so but not sure. Sorry if i this is a stuipid question but as i said this will be the first ported enclosure that i have owned/built. I plan on the subs firing upwards on top of the enclosure and will be pushing the box close to my rear seat. Hope i gave enough info. thanks in …

Need to hit all of the Sundown owners up to what boxes you have used. Ihave 2 SA 12's that i will be running at a 2ohm load off a Kicker ZX1000.1. Ihave always had sealed boxes and thought that they were better for SQ and the lower bass notes. I am open to suggestions as i have NEVER used one of these subs before. If i should go ported what should it be tuned to and how many cubic ft for 2? If sealed should i use poly fill and if so how much and how many cubic ft for 2? Any reference material or you tube videos you can link me to would be great. thanks guys.

I have narrowed my search to a 12 sub to the either a single FI SSD or a Sundown SA 12. I plan on using a ZX 1000 at a 2ohm load in the back of a suburban. if you were in my shoes and needed a 12 sub to run in a sealed inclosure and had about 300.00 to spend on a sub which would you chose and why. Feel free to suggest other brands. thanks

Hello, this would be my first go with a sundown product and I wanted to see any users opinions on the idea. The sub woofers will be receiving power from a mmats 2000.1 so the subs in theory not accounting for freq. or box rise etc. would get 500 per. The enclosure will be sealed shooting for a little bit higher Q around .8 as I like the warmer sound. I'm not a huge fan of dampened or critically dampened sealed boxes. Basically I am at an impasse as it would seem with the current sale it would be stupid to miss out on the SA's as I could potentially up grade power later on these vs the SD. Any thoughts, I know basically no one has played with the SD's but opinions would be…

Hey, everyone. Im looking into getting either AA Mayhem 15 d2 or AA Havoc 18 d2 or d1 depending on how much power it can take daily. Amp is Hifonics BRZ2400.1D and I read that the Havocs have a power handling of 1250W rms. I wanna know if I can power the Havoc with the full 2400W or if I would need to wire to 2ohm for 1700W. Also, would either of these numbers be too much power for daily use? The car it is going in is a pontiac vibe and has about 24cuft of cargo area for the box so I dont think Ill have problems fitting the box in the car. But, Ive also read that certain setups are better for certain cars and idk how to tell since Im quite new at this. If anyone knows a p…

I am thinking about getting an AA Mayhem 15 or an AA Havoc 18. I am kinda leaning towards the Havoc but idk if my amp will be too powerful for it. Hifonics BRZ2400.1D 2400W at 1 ohm; 1700W at 2 ohms. Will either of these be too much power for the sub? If either of these numbers are good for the havoc for daily use, I think I will get the Havoc. But, if not, Mayhem it is.
