Hey all.Im looking to do some battery upgrading.I want to replace my stock battery upfront and replace the cheap walmart deep cycle in the back. Here is my main concern.I have a old 1977 Oldsmobile Delta 88 and sometimes its takes a bit of cranking to get it started. So,im worried about running the battery low by cranking my car to start and then it not starting because the battery is to weak.In the summer or warmer weather it starts just fine.Im mainly worried about in the winter time when it takes me awhile to get it started.I dont have alot of room upfront but i have alot of room in the back.So I guess what it boils down to is which battery should I get for upfront?I don…

I tried calling you today about it but no response. I finally got my VCM today after a couple of months and hooked it right up. My problem is that it tries to charge at 19 volts.... it won't let me adjust the voltage at all. I have quadrouple checked the dip switches and they are on the correct setting. My alternator uses an exciter I got from DC power to run... when I put the vcm harness in between it tries to charge at 19 volts and won't do anything else. The only thing it will do is go dim and bright and tell me voltage... it will go into voltage adjust mode (blinking decimal) but the voltage won't adjust up or down.... I've hit both up and down hundreds of time. So …

Just wanted to let everyone know that we are currently moving to a different location, so there may be a slight delay in the responses. The best way to reach me if you need something is by email or by phone. If you get my voice mail I am probably at the other office and will get back with you as soon as possible. I am handling things at both locations right now, so I cant be on the forums as much right now. Should have everything completed here in the next week or so and then back to business as usual. Just wanted to let everyone know.

  6. So, I will soon be running a sundown saz-1500D. And now I have a aamp that puts out 190x2. So about 1900watts Rms total. I will be ordering a DC Power 180xp alt. And I was wondering what batt should I use in order to not have to use a secondary batt? Really don't want to have to do any modifications if possible. I drive a 1994 Toyota Camry V6. Thanks. -jonathan

Hey guys I just saw the price sheet for 2011 and there is going to be a price increase due to lead prices being on the rise for the past year or so. Now would be a great time to get your batteries before the increase. Check out the SSA store now to take advantage of the 2010 prices.

Hello, I need some help. So right now i have a saturn ion and just ran some 1/0 gauge wire to the trunk of my car doing the big 3. I was wondering if i can hook up my xs 1200 battery in parallel, too my starting durlast battery, with each battery receiving its own cable from the alternator? would this work? Since both batterys are in the trunk i can ground them to the same point. I have no idea what to do??

I have looked at the chart you have posted many times and in the end I guess it leaves me confused. I understand that using one battery for the vehicle will have less reserve for the stereo system as opposed to multiple batteries. My understanding is that the battery is there as a, "buffer", for lack of a better term. It is my understanding that the battery will deliver amps "quicker" than the alternator can react, which is why more batteries can stabilize voltage with a heavy amp draw. I understand that the chart posted is very general in terms of what battery can support "XXX" amount of wattage. What I'd like to know before making a decision on which battery I may need…

I am planning on using a D3400 under the hood as my stock replacement starting battery and a D3400 in my trunk as an auxiliary battery for my amplifiers. I want to use an isolator/relay between the two batteries, atleast 300 amp. I am considering a Stinger SGP35 500amp isolator/relay. Is this a good isolator/relay to use with XS Power batteries or is there something better? Thanks

  13. What does this do? There isn't much info on the website about it and I can't find any info anywhere else. I was told it would raise and hold the voltage of the vehicle it is hooked up in to a set voltage and will regulate it there. Is this true? How high would it hold on a stock 120 amp alternator safely for testing purposes?

I have searched everywhere for a high ouput alternator for my 2008 Hyundai Elantra and nobody makes one! My stock alternator is a puny 90amp unit. I would like to be able to support +3000wrms. I plan on using a D6500 battery under the hood. By adding a second battery I would not be improving anything other than killing my alternator faster, right? Do you think I can support +3000wrms with my factory alternator and a D6500? Thank you! Eric

I have a d3400 under my hood and its been there for 6 months, suddenly one of my buddy told me that the d3400 can't handle the heat under the hood because we live in a tropical country. How will i check if my battery is still in good condition? What are the signs that i've damage my battery due to its location?

Not sure how many of these I would need to run an SD16KD. Also, what would be the advantages/disadvantages of running the 14V batt. vs 4 D3100's? I already have a D3400 up front, would I want to change this to a 14v batt as well if I decide to go with the D1400? Thanks, Nova

There has been a lot of questions about charging batteries lately. Lets look at it this way. A D3100 is around $350. A multimeter or volt meter can be purchased for $40 to how ever much you want to spend on one. IMHO it would be a good investment to get a multimeter/volt meter to make sure the batteries are being charged at the correct voltages. Multimeter/volt meters are just good things to have on hand for any electrical situation. You can usually find some pretty good deals in pawn shops on stuff like this.
