  1. You know my vote is for the SSD.
  2. Xmax is the distance the cone travels, I would give it atleast 1.5" more to be safe.
  3. Looking to further educate myself in car audio..... cant wait
  4. My sub just arrived today. So I spent most of the afternoon installing this monster into the 9.3 cube @ 32hz box! I know I know, this box is ginormous itself... But oh does it sound good and pound hard! I had plans on listening to the woofer in the 9.3 cubes then maybe cutting box down to 7~ cubes.... But after listening to it for 20 minutes, I am very pleased with the product and with the huge azz box. Anyway I know this isnt much of a review, but more of some customer appreciation and satisfaction. If anyone has any questions regarding this woofer, feel free to ask!

  7. ok so i read some of the newbie pinned notes lol. Ok so this all going in a daily 96 galant. Just trying to get a good bump out of my system maybe pull up to the guys in their donks with the big rims, grille speaker and trunk rattle and maybe turn their heads.. Ok on price range I AM A full time student athlete so not much time or money. For the box want ported but its kinda a small trunk so may have to go sealed. Just got the box from my brother who just shipped out to basic for the Airforce. The electrical is all stock may try to get some knu wiring and try my hand at a big 3 upgrade but wanna wait to get everything else together. Current system just a jvc head unit, a single infinity 12 in prefab ported box, off brand amp, and eq just sitting in my living room really dont wanna waste my time hooking that stuff up.

  9. There are a lot of great people on SSA who would love to help you, but you need to follow the guidelines for posting.
  10. That could be the result of a subwoofer in a ported enclosure unloading. But that's not "unloading". OP: You definition of "unloading" seems to be reasonably accurate. I probably wouldn't call it's movement below tuning "uncontrollable", as the driver is still "controlled" by the motor and it's own suspension (and input signal). It's mechanical power handling is reduced, which makes it easier to overdrive the speaker. You could run a driver well under the tuning of an enclosure without issue as long as you kept power levels to low enough levels not overexcurt the driver. Do you understand how a ported enclosure operates?
  11. Denim found me on another site I frequent.
  12. The enclosure does not control the cone of the driver below tuning...the only thing controlling the subwoofer is the suspension
