I hope this works. (Yes I'm Bilingual/Chicano)
  2. Buy a monoblock. Bridging a 2chan to 1chan causes a certain distortion. Monoblocks have better powersupplies that can take more beatin. doesnt get as hot, etc. None of your reasoning is really correct. As to the original question...a mono amp would generally be more flexible, and generally more efficient and more cost effective. That's in general, not always the case. If you find a 2-channel amp that fits your goals and budget there is nothing wrong with using it.
  3. well.. got the sub and put it in................... turned the gain up some................. well most the way up..........................then my boy and i turned a cd on.............. and........................ how the hell did you ever build such a .......... 4. We are trying to help you find the problem without costing you money first. We also don't want to suggest you something and then you come back and say that it didn't help because it wasn't the problem in the first place. Are you saying that you are getting port noise? What is your box's specs? And I don't understand what you are trying to say right here " I just want how do i say to not kick up a fuss? A different sound???". Can you be a little bit more clear?
  5. A couple more options for you to think about are from SSA! The ICON and XCON are low end monsters! Worth a look!
  6. for sure..as soon as i sell my old alpine subs the amp is mine lol..cant wait! thanks for the super fast response time! this site is amazing
  7. If the Lanzar does the job for you with in your budget and serves it's purpose for the particular install, go for it. I like that the model you are looking at has top mount controls. Why must it be 100 watts per channel? Could you consider a lower power amplifier if it is of a high reputation brand to ease some of your anxiety about Lanzar? (Lanzar has not always been this way ) Also consider checking the classifieds here for options. Not to be self promoting, but you can get the Sundown SAX-50.4 from the SSA Store for blow out pricing at $200, if you can do with a little less power, but a great crossover network. This Eclipse is a good deal. Along with this Cadence, this Diamond, or this JL, or this Memphis, or this Audison. They are all under $250 and are from brands of good reputation, even though they give up a few watts to your desire. There are more options on ebay, and I am pondering selling my Orion 800.4.
  8. Then build a different box. But don't purchase a different amplifier with the single prospect of "better woofer control".....damping factor is completely blown out of proportion as far as importance and impact is concerned.
  9. More than bad customer service. He's shady, business practices are shady, products are well, shady. I'd rather have anything Alpine than anything RD. Hell you could give me all of RD's inventory for free and I would take it all right to the scrap yard.
  10. So many choices! If I were you, I would go to the SSA store and look at all the options available! SSA - Icon Sundown - SA-12 Incriminator - Lethal Injection Mach 5 - IXL
  11. Nope, far from severe. Actually, I never would have wasted my money on the amp or the company. YOu could've saved money and the strain on your electrical system and just gone with a 1500 watt amp. You wouldn't even be able to hear the difference.
  12. there is a school here in houston, tx called the acoustic edge. all they do is car audio, fabrication, upolstry, fiberglass training, home theatre, and home alarms. www.acousticedge.com
  13. I'd dump the amp before the drivers.
  14. Giant selection in the shop on this website, Incriminator DP's, SSA xcon, Mach5audio SPls or IXL's, or you can go to Fi's website and get the BL. Just depends on your budget and what you want.
  15. Don't waste money on toast to get new subs. Get the right subs so you don't waste money. That sounds too redundant. lol.
  16. http://www.diysubwoofers.org/bnd/4thord1.htm
  17. 1 point
It should but there are too many factors to determine what it can hit (dont ask how many dbs can this hit only a TL Meter would know since that is what there designed for). You should pick a sub for your listening preferences, the goals you want to achieve and what fits into your budget.
  18. You have been all over the place with equipment from here and there, lets take a step back before you just keep throwing more and more equipment at us. What are your goals, your budget on amp, speakers, front stage, electrical upgrades, etc? I wouldnt get a sub with those T/S Parameters.
  19. Using your max dimensions of 36"W X 26"D X 16"H each chamber will be 2.45ft^3 after all displacements tuned to 33hz
  20. Wow, you really get some bad advice from people. Amazing what happens when you don't take the time to ask the right questions. Cold, water, and your wire will NOT = bye bye electronics. Only an electrical short will do something and that will just blow your fuse...unless you have some idiot help you with your fuse in which case you will just burn your car down instead. RCA's can be run right on top of your power wire and your ground for that matter. In fact good luck running it not right on your ground. Considering the equipment list you have, $400 is pretty cheap. Considering the questions and advice you get, I'd say you should spend it. Either that or allocate more than a week and do a lot more research first. (starts with searching)
