  1. You mean the SAX's, the SAZ's are the subwoofer mono amps. OP give a list of your entire system design and goals, someone on here will guide you in the right direction on what you may need.
  2. Trying to do a 160 at a show, with 2 1500d's and 2 NS18's. My highest posted score at a show was a 158.7. Got home today and there was these at my door. ;D
  3. I just got my new ssa xcon today in the mail. i hooked it up in a 3.6 cubic foot enclosure tuned to 32hz. It is only its test box until I can afford a proper enclosure. Its getting 1600rms from a hif\onics brutus amp, and this thing sounds great and goes loud, I will post up pictures and videos tomorrow once I fine tune it to the best it can get under the circumstances. I can't wait until I can get a new amp and enclosure this thing will rock. If you have any questions feel free to ask.
  4. Now we can't vote down dumbasses
  5. Icon on steroïds : exactly !!! I've heared one xcon on 2 saz 1000 d in a very small french car (Renault Clio for those who knows) : it's insanely loud and heavy ! People, with "little" spl setups were telling my friend to leave the car while playing so loud !!! He has a lot of speakers in his 2 doors on a jbl crown amplifier( bpx 300.4 or something like that). I was sad I did not have a good camera to watch their faces : they all were shocked by the loudness, the accuracy, and the way this sub was hiting the low notes !!! They never saw that in their lives. Some tried to go to the ssa website, but they don't understand English !!!!!
  6. Lots of misrepresented advice here. You are not a Q buyer, get the BL. You don't listen to low low's. The BL will get plenty low enough for the music you prefer. Sure the Q does play lower, but you will give up significant output for something that you won't use.
  7. If you want ridiculous bass that shakes your car and STILL sound really really good : go for the Xcon !!! Don't forget that the xcon weight a lot more than the icon. I hope this little review will be helpfull for those interested in ssa subs. If you need some more informations, you can pm me. Forget to say that I live in a French speaking island in the Carribbeans, and SSA take care of me as if I was their next neighbor !!! All my questions were answered, and all my requests were accepted : shipper, info on box,... Congratulations to SSA .
  8. Sorry for the poor quality of the pictures, they're coming from my Blackberry So, I change my sub, and got a 15" Xcon. The first listening sessions, I was sceptical. It was too "new" to play well : had to wait for breakin time. I think that's it now!!! The xcon is way more powerful : I feel the bass is really heavier, my car feels it too. The rain/or light sensor (I don't know what it is) in the windshield fell off. The rear view mirror had already been gone !!! With the same power I am more and more happy. I think the sub plays as well as the Icon : I can listen to all kind of music, not only rap or r&b. When I am listening to a Bob Marley song, I have all the basslines complete : with some other subs I had it was not so good. Maybe I had wrong boxes, but, for example, My Kicker L7 was in a sealed box, not the biggest one recommanded though, but not the smallest. And it was heavy but not accurate enough for me. I was missing some notes, these missing notes were there but not loud enough. The Xcon gives me the heavy part I was missing with Icon. The Icon is a fantastic woofer, for sure, but the Xcon is more for real bassheads, like me !!! You feel like your car is going to fall apart !!! and you love it !!! In résumé : if you want a lot of bass that is good sounding, go for the Icon !
  9. Here is the box and my instal :

You can put nuts on both the inside and the outside of the box and the threaded rod won't move anywhere. But I would definitely use the rod over the wood.

in a word, yes! They sound awesome in sealed enclosures and really dig down for the low notes in ported enclosures. From the man himself would it get louder with 2 12 inch icon ported or 2 15 inch sealed? most likly 2 12's ported. but would depends on how much air space you got to work with.
  12. yeah that is how I am when I notice someone is coming from a death trap area or an area of not to much visibility to the road there turning on, caution is the key when driving nowadays since others dont use it.
  13. I wouldnt waste time to run them from the stock to head unit unless it some old wire or something, if it doesnt seem damage or faulty then I wouldnt. But that depends if you dont mind, have the speaker wire and so on. Maybe bigger and better wire may help with the sound but probably not by much.
  14. No your pops didnt say that, so he got jokes. what? lol I cant believe your dad said that, sounds to me as if he has some jokes. It is just funny that he said something like that, some dads would be like why are you showing me this. Sounds like you have a cool, down to earth dad.
  15. It is coming together very slowly, wish I had more hands on experience on things in life but Im learning as much as I can now.
  16. About time, so lets see if these members actually follow the rules this time but I doubt it since they cant even follow the rules that were given to them when they joined this forum. Keep up the good work SSA. Sig also.
  17. I hate it when the green and red + - hide parts of the signature or post...
  18. Yeah the double baffle goes on whatever side the sub will be mounted on.
  19. 3/4" mdf will be fine, you could make the front baffle double to be safe if you want (I will be doing with my 15").
  20. I took a look at the sundown amp, but it's a little too expensive :/ do you have any other suggestions? my main concern was if the AQ 1200D had enough power to run the Fi well. The amp is 1200wrms at 1 Ohm, and the sub is 1000wrms. Is that what it actually needs to perform well, or do I need a little more power? That amp will push that sub very well, some people on here are bias and will only steer you towards Sundown amps like I would also but Sundown is not in everybody's budget. If that is in your budget then go for it in my opinion, unless you want to buy used but that Audioque will get the job done also.
  21. Damn I accidentally rated the topic with two *. Sorry for that. Build looks awesome !
  22. looken good man lets get it moving

Great addition Mark lets just hope you can keep up with them calls. I could always answer them for ya for a small fee of two more x-cons
  24. Anything else going in there besides subs and amps?
  25. Get a dual 2 ohm. Put each voice coil on its own channel. Both sides will be running at 2 ohms
