  1. Nobody says an amp rated at 1 ohm cant go below 1 ohm, they are not supposed or recommended to. We dont tell people things like that here since in the wrong hands it can cause damage to amp, electrical system, etc. That is just like saying a BL can do more than 1000 watts, yeah it can but is it recommended no (it depends on a lot of things). If your gonna throw information about an amp playing lower than what it can then give reasons on the advantages and disadvantages of doing it. Just cause it is playing fine below its normal ohm load does not mean it will do it forever, I had a Memphis amp that I ran close to a year at .5 ohm and it finally gave way with the proper electrical so no all amps will not survive being ran at .5 ohms for a long time.
  2. check out zaphaudio.com for some reviews and what not on a wide array of speakers if you havent been to the site already.
  3. No ones saying you have to use the full 1200watts either...
  4. If I were in your shoes, I would save for a while longer and buy 1 BL (knowing you want two in the future). Buy the d1 coil option and run it at 2 ohms for now. Upgrade to your 2nd BL down the line. But that's just logical thinking.
  5. DC Lvl 5 10 Testing for Limits - SSA Car Audio Forum - Page 6 check it out...its in one of the pics...like halfway down the page.
  6. thorhammer...he has 2 custom made 10" dc level 5s...and the magnet is bigger than the cutout so he had to have adapter plates made for his speakers so he could mount them.
  7. u could make an adapter plate, kinda like thorhammer uses on his lvl 5 10"s
  8. I don't quite understand. You have a 2way+sub crossover in the Alpine unit and then refer to using the XS's crossover. Which are you planning to do? The XS crossover flexibility is a huge joke compared to the active capability of the H100; however, you reference a 3 way above and it isn't capable of doing a 3 way so again I am not sure what you are leaning towards. As for mounting locations. Giving us your options would help. It sounds like that you have door pods and potentially can do A pillar mounts, but some more detail and even pictures would be really helpful.
  9. I agree the challenge is all in the install and that is the part you need to focus on first. Mounting locations might make some drivers not so user friendly and others fit right in. Knowing where you can put things and what level of install effort you are willing to put in will really help us narrow down the driver selection. Without this information I wouldn't even think of selecting drivers
  10. a soundstage that is high up on the dash will not be achieved by placing a 3-way in a door , the tweeter and mid will simply be placed too low . tweeter on earheigt on- or of-axis a mid as close a possible to it. dome for off-axis (you'll have to try to let the windshield work in your advantage ) or a cone if on-axis or close , this because cones often have a lower fs and therefore can be crossed lower getting getting an even higher staging and possibly cross outside the range of vocals . a dome has a much better off-axis responce (wider dispersion)
  11. I dont think you will need 4 of them, that AH is kinda like a myth. I would start off with one to two of them and go from there, it is hard to say at first it depends on your listening habits and such. The best bet is to buy two and see how your voltage holds up and if your dropping and another battery, make sure you get a voltmeter. Just my .02
  12. I wouldnt even buy the solenoid/relay but if you already did then you can use it, I would install everything and put the Shuriken in the front and see how it holds up. If it holds up then your fine until you can get another battery if need be. If the battery doesnt hold up to well then I would keep the gains down or close to off and volume down till you can get a second Shuriken if your so worried about mixing batteries.
  13. I see what you did there.
  14. actually that amp will put out more at 1 ohm**** even though it is rated to be 600 across the board, you should be fine wiring at .7 after imp rise, although if amp goes into protect i would rewire to 2.8
  15. Next time that dude farts I hope he keeps it to himself.
  16. ^^^^ this is true but also you will never see what you are wired at period, so he will be ok, now if he was asking to wire at .3 and count on imp rise to be a constant .9 then i would totally agree man
  17. wow u must be right i have clamped that amp on music, and the full range of test tones it would play, but ya i guess your right.......... also that amp will go into protect before smoking when wired to low...... and asking electrical on a 600w amp, unless he is running on a big wheels toy he is fine
  18. also where do you get off saying amps rated at 1 ohm can only got down that low? many amps that are "RATED" at 1 ohm can go down to .5 or even .3, if you havent used the amp yourself i wouldent give a cookie cuter response
