I agree 100%. Then Kevin can get my amplifier back (the one he sold to the OP), have it repaired and then send me my amplifier that I had purchased on eBay. Then he'd prove he is an ethical business man. Dude, you got your money back; leave it at that. Do you really want this amp that bad that you are willing to risk another bad deal? Think about it. Right now, you are out nothing.

Here's what needs to happen. . . . Kevin, you have a questionable past you can NOT deny. This amp could have been blown before hand, and it could have been blown by the user. It doesn't matter. What you need to do is to eat it. Give the guy his money back and take the amp back. Don't use UPS for a claim. If you need to do that, refund his money first, then get the amp back and deal with UPS on your own accord. Don't make him wait on them. It sucks for you, but this is what you need to do to prove you're an ethical business man.

Clamps are a waste of money and time? Clamps are a necessary tool in order to obtain proper clamping force to make quality joints. I don't know the numbers for MDF, but traditional lumber will take anywhere from 150-1,000+psi of clamping force to achieve proper glue joints. I guarantee you aren't getting even 150psi with just screws. Do just screws work for making a quick subwoofer box? Sure they do, and I've done it myself, but I would never go so far as to say clamps are a waste of time and money. I always seem to have quite a few assorted screws around (some say I've lost some myself), but one can never have to many quality clamps. Clamps are not just used for holding the pieces together, but making quality glue lines, as you are looking for a glue line less than .004" thick, or a cover of a magazine.

All of the links below will link you directly to our box cut sheet page. Keep in mind these are general boxes for daily driving scenarios. If you are shooting for maximum SPL you are on your own. That only comes from trials and testing. X series cut sheets! SSD series cut sheets! Q series cut sheets! BL series cut sheets! BTL series cut sheets!
  7. The extra set of terminals on the amp are there for convenience, as you stated they are internally bridged, meaning both sets of positive connect behind all the plastic casing, and both sets of negative connect as well. Use the wiring config from 12volt for diagrams on wiring: http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer_configurations.asp
  8. the 2 sets of terminals just make it easier to wire multiple subs easier. For one sub just use 1 + and 1 -.
  9. Your power distribution would be uneven.

  12. so i did wrong by receiving something that didnt work. talked to him, couldnt work it out. tried to make a claim with paypal, but he had me send it as a gift payment which i found out from paypal was a bad idea. first time buying from somebody. when i talked to the lady from paypal over the phone she told me to call the bank and ask for a buyer protection. so i called the number on the back of my card like she said to do and they understood and were willing to help me out. chase is investigating it and i was waiting to send the hu back after i heard back from them which i havnt. but after this i am just going to send the HU back to him since i have no use for a cd player that doesnt work. did yall see this thread.... http://www.caraudio.com/forums/*negative*-feedback/504971-bob-saget.html after looking at that it seems like he knew it didnt work. maybe im not reading right or something
  13. Actually you didn't read that right either. Average power is a function of TIME which means same Average power = same heat. There is no longer as that is part of the average power equation. Maybe you will see what I'm getting at if I say it this way: yes I know your average power goes up with a square wave obviously without even calculating anything I can see there's more area under the curve. I know. Stop telling me. But what you can't seem to get is the sound wave, traveling through air, is not electrical. It is kinematic. Newtons laws. No Schro. So with a square wave and a sine wave you have the same mechanical period, same amplitude, same DEEBEEZ. But one way much more electrical power converts to heat than the other. Period. A sine wave is the most electrically efficient way to create a mechanical sound pulse. It just comes down to efficiency. This discussion is about heat and square/sine/clipped waves. I made a VERY simple, mathematically correct statement and for some reason everyone is being stupid about it. Equal average power in both square and sine waves will equal the SAME heat. Not sure at all what the hell this has to do with a sound wave, nor cone motion for that matter. The discussions was on thermal destruction of drivers.

He has said multiple times not to use PMs, give him an email or call. And if you said that you tried to call and he said he didn't get one check the number you have for him?
  15. OK, you have entered my territory now.. Part of that sentence is wrong. I agree with same amplitude only when viewing it as sine peak vs square peak. Now, same mechanical.. that's a tricky statement to make. What exactly are you implying about same mechanical? A square wave is made up of more than 1 center frequency unlike a sine wave which only has 1 center frequency, hence the reason a square wave sounds.. violent and ackward. A speaker trying to produce this will have a different mechanical properpty and there is NO way to guarantee it's maximum excursion is the same from sine vs square because of this. And, sine vs square does NOT produce the same dB. I have physically done that test and know this. To sum the test up- When the amplifiers are providing a clean signal, a square wave is significantly louder than a sine, over 1db easy. However, when the source square wave is clipped.. the sine wave prevails and the output is the complete opposite. The sine wave clipped is now over 1db louder than a clipped square wave. There is more information in a square wave.. easy for it to be louder on the meter than a sine.. but only up to a certain point. In competition, running into clipping can still increase pressure output but only to a certain point until you clip too much and start to lose pressure. When using a square wave, the headroom is FAR lower when going into clipping on the amp, therefore will suffer pressure output loss far sooner which results in a clipped sine wave boasting over a clipped square wave. Maximum overall scores driven into clipping- sine wave is louder. When running low power OR clean power, the square wave is pulling more power out of the amp even though both waves share the same peak amplitude. This is because there is more information present in a square wave but less headroom,

A bad ground problem would have been shown by voltage problems under load. NOT under a higher voltage. Had that happen to me once...measured up the voltage, 12v, turned on the amp, it went into protect and at the terminals there were 5v. Turned out to be a bad ground. Ground problems are not the culprit in this case In case of repairs, small stuff can be overlooked and cause problems later on...
  17. On the contrary, you just made yourself look ignorant. You're assuming people went from SA's TO AQ's. This was not the case. SA's were put into the AQ boxes. So I guess the SA's are WAY better because they do better in the wrong box when the AQ as an optimal box. Actually that's quite an accomplishment, way to prove him right. So he's saying the box was better for the SA's, showing the people didn't know how to make the AQ's work right. This guy is a fuck nut.
  18. Let's keep the small talk out fellas, thank you for your feedback 00WJGC.
  19. I'll never again sell anything over the internet, ever. It's far too big of a hassle & risk.
  20. Alright guys, I figured I would share some pictures of randy's bracket and frames for his alternators. This was taken with my phone on a rainy day so pics really do no justice.. Just to let you know that we've been working diligently on it.. Test fitted.. I hope you like

  23. Any update on this? If it's not going to be covered or anything I'd like to go ahead and pay and get it shipped out.... I'm having to push everything back now since my equipment failure. Thanks!

FYI in the future trying my cell or pms might result in faster action then publicly announcing I've slammed you even when I'm trying to help after the fact. Just a thought

What it sounds like to me and friend is that when you had the amp on 12v the ground was good enough to keep the amp grounded and safe, then when you started the vehicle and achieved 14v your ground was insufficient causing permanent damage. This issue with the amp couldn't have been detected as the damage would have been caused in your car.
