  1. I would say a company that has held payment for months and months and months and months and made promises and promises and promises and promises but no product has actually been provided and recently information is not very forthcoming is accomplishing the task of ruining their own reputation all by themself. Put yourself in the buyers shoes. Rather than call them douchebags, I'd say they've been SIGNIFICANTLY more patient and respectful than I would have been if I were in the same situation. And contrary to the way most of these situations have gone, almost all of the buyers have been very respectful in their requests for information from Troy in this thread. Though their frustration is understandably increasing the longer this thread runs and the more time goes by with no updates or information. I really fail to see how posting their situation and requesting an update on the situation on his official public forum (requests that have gone unanswered, mind you) makes them douchebags or them being the ones ruining a companies reputation. There's only one person who can ruin Troy's reputation; that would be Troy himself. A company's reputation doesn't hang on whether or not they have issues, as almost all companies will at some point, but rather how they handle themselves during the issues that do arise. And that is all on Troy.
  2. Some may recall the 2008 prototype "Monster" woofer that inspired features later found in several other drivers we make today. It's been shelved for some time... but a second revision of the prototype has been started on and we'll have some testing coming up. * Compounded smooth machining on the top plate with the NS v.2 style cross drilling. I am testing more with a top shorting ring on this design -- that is not necessarily something that will see production. * Again you see numerous smooth transitions on the back plate so we don't have excess steel where it's not needed (weight concerns). Also makes it look very interesting and unique. The goal is to replicate what I liked about the "Monster" prototype and to address some things I thought could be better. It will not actually be called Monster for legal reasons... but we call it that as a nick-name. This is a triple stack 250mm (10 inch) slug design like the Monster v.1 prototype... so it's very heavy and has a bunch of motor force behind it.
  3. So here is a lil tutorial for all the people that are not into computers so much or just can't figure it out at the first time. 1. You upload the picture somewhere. If you have it already uploaded that's half of the work. 2. You copy that pictures link. 3. You paste that link between 4. Enjoy. Known sites to upload - ImageShack - Online Media Hosting TinyPic - Free Image Hosting, Photo Sharing & Video Hosting IMAGE HOSTING - ImageHosting.gr Mobile Photobucket Here are pictures of the how-to: 1. First you go to your site for upload. I choose IS for typical ups. You click browse and a window shows up. From there you choose one or more pictures. For more that one you can hold ctrl and click the ones you want or just select with the mouse. browse, choose image or images and hit open. 2. After you hit Open you click Upload Options / Resizing >> and it must look like the picture below so it does not resize your big pictures to some small ones. Then click Upload Now... 3. After the upload is finished you get this page. You need to click Direct link and it will direct you too the image inself. 4. You copy the images location. 5. You go to the forum, click to post a new reply or thread and you will see next to the smiley face there is a picture with a tree. You click that, paste the pics link there and hit Insert Image 6. You are done. It should look like this. Your link, the code on both sides. And here she is
  4. I think it's been said before but you loose a great deal of bed on a cal king. Unless your 6.666 feet tall it's not really a good option. It costs more, and you have massively less wiggle room on price. They are all special order. The only caveat to that is if it's a floor model from last year on the sales floor and they need to get rid of it. Like a Kia on a Cadillac lot it's got to go! The sheets are more in cost by a great deal and less common. If that doesn't make you feel a bit different, think about the fact that 2 people on a king is effectively the same sleeping room as a twin size per person. It only becomes less when you make it a cal king. Either way, cal king or king, start with the top of the line bed and then keep trying less expencive beds untill it's not good enough. No brand is a clear winner all the time. However if you had to put me on the spot and buy a bed without having tried it..... I would buy whatever kingsdown has in their top beds. At least 40% of my coworkers slept on kingsdown product. Every bedroom of my house has one, every friend I sold a bed to other than 2(one needed a goof cal king , and the other needed to take one that day) purchased a kingsdown. I think 2 or 3 guys here have them roo. Neal I beleive is one.
  5. These are your wiring options: The lower the impedance the more power the amp will make (it was also require more amperage). Whatever the power it is, it will be divided amongst the drivers. Ex: at 1ohm an amp produces 500watts, and your using two drivers, each will see around 250 watts. In simplest terms
  6. I think they are 2 totally different drivers meant for different applications
  7. Americans are lazy, truth be told. One reason why we aren't as smart as we should be. Can't just blame it entirely on the school system. The material is there regardless who is teaching it. We just don't care to learn. We rather know just enough to get by, for a lot of cases. Still the point he was trying to make was quality vs American. Which China is known in this industry as sub par quality, even though a good percentage comes from there. But I made the point in my post above about that.
  8. A 4th order bandpass is a bandpass. A 4th order vented is a "normal" ported enclosure. The "order" only refers to the roll-off in db/octave. You can have 4th or 6th order vented or bandpass. There are all types of alignments. 4th order vented refers to a standard, non-assisted, vented enclosure. The enclosure normally rolls off at 24db/octave (4th order) below F3. Once you add a SSF or other EQ, it isn't 4th order anymore... It could be 5th, 6th, etc.... Not sure if this makes sense to you, but you need to undwerstand the terminology in order to receive assistance.... The big port comment was meant for the bandpass, not the standard vented. In a bandpass, all output is through the port and it needs to be large enough to not introduce to much compression. The only way to accurately determain minimum vent area is to model and look at vent velocity. Someone on here may have the time to do it for you. Or download some freeware and model yourself.
  9. I'm still watching my front step every day. I just haven't bumped the thread because I didn't want to get attacked by nuthuggers again who think I should just go without my money and my bracket and stfu about it. HAHAHA
  10. Going way off topic here but......... Everytime i see you avatar "The enD" I end up staring at it for like 10mins till i realize i have been lost in the sight of breats!!! ANYWAYS, back to our regularly scheduled programming!
  11. No offense but just because a sub is designed in USA doesn't make it good. I know the one in question isn't the case at all. But I can design a POS sub and market it as Designed in the USA but that doesn't make it great. I'm not sure the exact orgins of Alpine, but it does have quiet a bit of engineering behind it regardless where they did it at. Same thing about being Made here... Remember the ShamWow commercial? Made in Germany, you know them germans make good stuff. Which is a joke in itself, but non the less, origin doesn't exactly make the product. Anybody can make quality and also anybody can make sorry shit. So just stating them to those details doesn't exactly give facts about either product without knowing first hand or proof.
  12. after bumbling through my build... i can truly appreciate your craftsmanship nice approach for sure.... are you entering under a club or on your own? (slamology) definetly would like us to be parked next to each other at the show.... repping SSA for sure! chop
  13. Here's a short little video for ya... The mic on the camera sucks but these puppies are hurling!!! I need to vacuum the truck bad you can see dust flying out from the pressure...LOL I'll have another one up that's a little longer tomorrow morning.
  14. I've never seen a Cactus MKII motor so any resemblance is coincidental.
  15. Few pictures of the motor - it's here. Just need to get it magnetized.
  16. Alpine China chink crap. Compared to quaility built American made and enginered subwoofers you figure that one out
  17. The problems I've had with the shop and CNC times have been unacceptable, but completely beyond my control. I'm trying to find an alternative shop to get the work done asap- but until I finish my personal shop some time this summer I am at the mercy of outside machine shops to complete the brackets. I'm told the CNC will be fixed by the end of the week every time a repair person gets on the phone, or I talk to the shop owner. A week after that products should start shipping again, but as you've expressed the week or so I've been promised has been exceeded by a LOT. I'm very sorry this problem has been passed on to the few of you who I accepted pre-orders from, at this point I'm holding off on all new brackets and pre-orders until I have product in-hand so this does not happen again. I'm trying to work out a deal with another shop to get things going sometime this upcoming week, and get you guys squared away. Again I am very sorry for the wait, I never expected to keep anyone waiting more than the time I promised. Its not right to you guys, and as this thread shows it makes me look bad- which I certainly don't want. As far as emails I've had several problems with lost emails from the email servers side- I don't know why, and unless I know I wont have issues I'll be switching so I know I'm getting everyones email. Due to a few family issues (sickness etc) I got backed up with my emails. I believe I'm pretty much caught up, so there should be little to no wait for a response. If anyone doesn't hear from me after a day please try again, I don't mean to keep anyone waiting! Thank you for those who have waited, I'm doing everything I can to take care of these problems and get your bracket shipped out quickly. Please know YOU WILL BE TAKEN CARE OF! Troy Jones
  18. I did, we are trying to work out things to get a few ASAP. In the mean time I've ordered a new CNC setup for myself, so if they don't get things made any quicker than the last shop I will be able to make them myself. I'm sorry for the wait a few customers have gone through- I'm trying to get you guys squared away and make sure it never happens again. Thanks, Troy
  19. I know Troy is a good guy, and I couldn't imagine him just holding money for no reason. Hopefully something will happen soon. It seems all alternator/bracket companies are having little problems like this. Seems it just the nature of the buisness. I'm not going to comment on this situation, or any other because I don't know the whole story, or really care. Just hope everything can get worked out.
  20. My anology wasn't perfect but it got the point across. Who said it has the same results? Just because voltage change doesn't mean its the same. This way is causing the Alt to actually produce current without needing it. I'm not sure exactly how the MLA works, but nobody can say its the same without really knowing. But I could see a problem with batteries becoming over charged with this way. I'm not downing this way, or praising MLA. Just saying.
  21. I can't figure out where to put the diode.. I've read the post 10 times, still I don't get in dummy terms where to put it. Lol.
  22. Mines a 6g, and that's what you got pictured. So I guess we do have the same style alternator. I will be trying this over the weekend.
  23. Hmmmmm don't I know you? lol
