  1. Who gives a flying fart what it's going to sound like. The only way to keep the industry alive is people like you enjoying the hobby. It sounds like y'all are having fun playing around with a new setup and wanted to share with everyone. I dont know why anyone would want to scoff at that. And any one mature enough should realize this and be encouraging.
  2. Put the speakers on baffles, your probably getting some cancellation not having the rear wave isolated from the front.
  3. Check to see that the speakers are in phase and id cut a bracket to seal up the doors for the speakers... having the open space around the speaker leaking air is not hlping you
  4. How did you come up with those figures?
  5. Im not hating either. im just done with cheap driver for right now.
  6. 1 point

No longer needed. Couldnt continue to wait on this box, went with another local builder!
  8. nobodys forcing you to read my post..... if u dont want to hear/read about it, then dont click on it.....
  9. There are a few of these super elite brands left. The ones that spend so much on the appearance and presentation, I really question where the money that you pay is going towards. Clearly, the ratio of performance to non-performance dollars is probably lower then most. It can be the same on the very low end also, with super showy products that are cheap. For me, the goal is to find something that lies in the middle that puts very high amounts of production money towards the quality and performance of the product, or at least that is how I gear our company.
  10. Actually, its really simple why its so expensive. Some idiot will pay it. At least we get to laugh at him.
  11. Except for Ferrari and Lamborghini use a ton of exotic materials, engineering, and hand assembly which makes their costs and performance so outrageous. I think we all can conlude that even the highest price "audiophile" grade components don't warrant their prices. They fit a niche bracket so people can think and boast they have the best equipment since it cost so much.
  12. "Preamplifier" is an extremely generic term that encompasses an extremely wide range of products with differing features and uses. So it would really depend on the specific needs and wants of the owner and the features of the product. Though I would not say potential benefits are limited to "SQ" systems.
  13. "Kevin"Subtillis 1800woofers Hand Built Enclosures Skar has an official forum here and a forum on another car audio forum. This can't be the same dude... "You get what you paid for" Especially enclosures. he offered cheap enclosures, you get them. You're missing the part where he posted pictures of high quality enclosures and installs that he represented as his own work (when it was not, he stole the pictures from different websites) and represented those pictures as portraying the quality of the enclosures that he was selling and that the purchasers would receive. So he flat out lied, pulled a bait-n-switch, lied some more, and then continued to pull several more antics during his internet career. He literally stole money from people by selling a product significantly different than advertised. That practice is against the law for any business in this country, fortunately for him (but unfortunately for his "customers") he was just some kid on the internet so not much could really be done. So no, it's not a simple case of "you get what you pay for". It was intentional deceit from the very beginning for the sole purpose of padding his pockets. No one said he can't seem like a nice guy in person. I'm sure he's rather pleasant. But he's still a piece of shit, no matter which way you slice it. I'm sure he was really just interested in "helping people out" by posting pictures of high quality craftsmanship, claiming it as his own when it was not, representing to the buyers that the enclosures they were receiving were going to be of similar quality, and then instead shipping shit enclosures to those individuals which IIRC were basically useless. Really sounds like he was just trying to help.
  14. I am finally starting my new build on my Dodge Durango. I almost have all the equipment in. Just waiting on the new battery and some wire. The ride: The wheels: Anella Diamond II Suv 22" My vehicle has a third row (I never use it) which I will be removing to create a false floor for battery and wire storage. Third row removed: There is a storage place in the back of the vehicle where my amps can fit perfectly into: Amps: MB Quart DSC 1500.1 MB Quart DSC 480.4 running Diamond D6 components right now until I purchase some Bravox components These amps have always worked well for me. They look nice next to each other because they are in the same case and are the same size. I am doing a single sub install and thought I would get the 2010 Icon. Thanks SSA for the awesome deal. 12" 2010 Icon D2 with aluminum coils: That is it for now I will post more pics as the build goes on.
  15. Thank you I appreciate it. Stay tuned 18" Xcons coming soon. Yeah when I bought this one the new ones (2004-2009) just came out. I was looking at both of them on the lot and decided to get this one. I think they look alot better also. I have had nothing but good luck with mine. It just turned 75k and I have only had to do general maintenance to it. Never has it been in the repair shop.
  16. The MB Quarts are definitely nice amps. They do rated power nicely. That being said the sundowns are much nicer build quality and seem to do more than rated (I set my gains to 1700wrms each with my multimeter). I definitely noticed a difference when I strapped the 1500ds together (Thank You Jacob from Sundown for all of the info.)
  17. Yeah running with the stock alternator, but it is 160amps. No voltage drop with the one dsc1500. We'll see how it handles two.
  18. Stay tuned: another Icon and DSC1500.1 on its way. MORE BASS
  19. Thanks for the input. I'll turn the box today and see how that sounds.
  20. The Icon really blows me away on how it performs. The accuracy of this driver is amazing and it kills the lows. I don't think I have heard a better driver in the (or near the) price range. Two thumbs waaaaaayy up for SSA. It definitely does more than I expected. I have had a few different setups in the Durango. This is definitely the best sounding setup and the bass output is very nice. The only thing I may change is sub and port location. I will build a few different boxes to see which sound the best. I love it.
  21. Box Building- 2.5cuft tuned to 28-29hz Box finished and installed- sub firing forward port to the passenger side. Amps installed and testing. I am giving the sub roughly 1300wrms.
  22. Thanks everyone. Since I am building the box this weekend I would love some input. I am thinking sub up, port to the drivers side. This is for a 12" icon with aluminum coils. The box would be 2.5 cubic feet. The port would be 12" tall x 3" wide and 36" long. This gives me tuning at about 30-31hz. The setups I had before were sub up port back. But they were also close to the tailgate. This box will be behind my 2nd row and about 2 feet away from the tailgate.
  23. A little more progress. Big 3 redone in 0 gauge- Ordered clear black wire, looks more like brown to me K&N Cold Air Intake False floor frame with kinetik hc600 which is being replaced by a XS Power D1200 as soon as it comes in False floor carpeted and installed. Carpet doesnt match perfectly but its close enough Thats it for now. Sub box being built this weekend! More pics soon
  24. Thanks Guys For all that racing I do with it. I was able to get a good deal on them and I thought they would look nice behind the big wheels. It works!!!! Thank You, your builds are awesome
  25. For all that racing I do with it. I was able to get a good deal on them and I thought they would look nice behind the big wheels.
  26. Thanks Mark. Very excited. I love the new website by the way. When I first got on this morning I was like dammmmnnnn thats nice.

  28. nobodys forcing you to read my post..... if u dont want to hear/read about it, then dont click on it..... However, it is EXPECTED that your threads will follow the posting guidelines you agreed to when joining the site. This one does not. Make sure any new ones you make do. The links to what you agreed to are in my sig, time for you to re-read them. because i didnt "research"? iv done research on both subs. i can hear his 9500's whenever i want, BUT i dont have my solo x's installed to compair them too.... thats y i posted this. but hey, who am i to talk right?
  29. This is EXACTLY why people get so frustrated with you. Not only do you have the record for the most this vs. that threads, you never listen to the advice! Everyone says go with the 9500's so you go with the x's, so what is the point?? PLEASE NO MORE REPLIES TO THIS THREAD. IM TIRED OF THE BS THAT COMES WIHT A SIMPLE QUESTION
  30. Take it to a scrap yard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  31. Need more info. Are they the same ohm rating and could you have the positive and neg. reversed? Also are the deck speakers the same ohm?
  32. Do you have the new speakers amplified? If not I bet that is your problem. You stock speakers have a lower power rating than your new aftermarket ones, so they did not need an amp to get loud. Put some power to them and they will get loud. With an amplifier you can adjust the power ratio between the front and back also.
  33. Yes unless they said to hook them up the way you have them. What are the others? 6x9s dont give ohms? they are 4ohm like the front
