  1. Why not post it here where IA people are and the IA forum is.
  2. well i got a little more done today. I seemed to have kinda hit wall (no pun intended) on how to make all the angles match up right. i had boy wonder (CcnncC) come over to help me out. We built the front 2x4 frame that the front baffles will attach to and fit the batteries in also. Not huge progress but I have a better plan now atleast. heres a few pics. Here is where i was having problems visualizing how to make this come together. should get it finished tomorrow i picked up two 145Ah powerware batteries from RAM designs to add to the couple batteries i already had. In the back now i have 2 rebadged group 34 dekas, 1 group 31 deka and the 2 powerwares. thats about 500Ah of reserve for now. i have room for more in the future if needed. Once i make all the trim panels fit right and make a few new ones it will all kinda blend. im not sure what marerial im wrapping everything in. maybe black suede. A few of the factory panels trimmed and placed just to see how its gonna lay out. . Well thats it for today. maybe more tomorrow.
  3. Thanks, I'm not planning on running through the wizard then calling it a day. I read the entire manual today, it looks pretty awesome, I think after installing it, people could call me a "tweaker" and I couldn't take offense to it. For anyone else looking for an ms8, sonic electronix has them for 499, and you can submit an offer right below the "add to cart" button, try submitting around 430 and it should come back with a price in the 460 range.
  4. I wouldn't worry about AP. They can be a bitch to properly tune (getting the right density/restrictiveness of AP material to optimally affect the response) and IMO with a high quality driver and proper consideration to installation and tuning equivalent results can be obtained. One thing a lot of people do which I've done in the past is almost a pseudo-AP enclosure by venting the kick directly into the carpet (if you're not willing to vent outside the vehicle). This gives the driver a little more breathing room and can also reduce some of the internal reflections within the enclosure.
  5. Stage height for the most part isn't going to come from your mids, it comes from the upper midrange and tweeters, which in a 2-way the tweeters will for the most part cover. In the midbass and lower midrange generally speaking your ears can't even determine "height", just left-right ques. The significant portion of the height ques are going to come from the tweeter in a 2-way. And following that the height has more to do with proper FR, proper time arrival and reflections, etc, and not necessarily the physical location of the drivers. If you sat in my car with your eyes closed I don't believe you'd be able to tell the speakers were next to your feet. As for width, you're only losing a couple inches in going from doors to kicks. Not enough to make a huge difference in width, although the ability to aim the drivers and get them away from the reflections/diffractions from being behind the door panel (as most people mount their mids) can often make a larger difference. In my car I get better overall imaging from the kicks without giving up really anything in width, and with venting to the fender airspace isn't an issue. But the main problem in my car with midbass in the kicks is I have a huge nasty peak that's generated. One of the things I should have done this summer was figure out if under-dash pads or something could have helped solved that issue but I haven't (forgot, dammit).....so for now I just let the MS-8 get rid of it for me.

    its a ugly thing..and sad..
  7. HAT is overpriced yuck. As always though you should start with mounting locations, goals and limitations. In the active world there are a ton of ways to skin a cat. I do have one concern with the path you are going down (that I love btw) and that is output. A single on axis 3" driver isn't going to be all that "loud" so depending on your goals you may need to alter that. Please get over your idiotic competition nonsense. If you want to demo what SQ sounds like just put on some headphones or sit in a living room with a half decent stereo. It really isn't that hard.

If you have port noise, the only thing you can do to fix it is get more port. Liquid nails is not a sealant as well, use silicone to seal the edges like you did with the amplifier. Fiberglass resin makes the enclosure weaker too.
