  2. As the title said I am looking for the best options for my install. I am thinking of just using the HU power beacuse I honestly don't want an amp in there right now. I have a mediocre at best JVC HU for the moment, and stock speakers. The dash takes 4" speakers and the back (which I could give a shit less about) is 6x8 IIRC. Sean (M5) had asked for some pictures with a 3" circle around the A pillar (if I understood right). Well Sean all I had laying around is a 2" challenge coin so hopefully this will work nonetheless. My goals are loud, clear-ish (not a SQ guru but I know what muddy music and just off music sounds like) music for daily driving around. Especially with the T-tops off. In the car I typically listen to hair metal, classic rock, new rock, and some rap too. Think bands like Guns N Roses, Metallica, Godsmack, Pantera, Megadeath, Atmosphere, Rob zombie, Disturbed, etc. I'd like some ideasas to what in theory could yield the best results and why. I will tell you this, kick panels are OUT. I drive a manual and need the foot well room.
  3. Port is too small for that many subs.
  4. There's no good reason to have the bass boost on, ever. As for it not being loud, you're comparing 4 completely different 10's to 6 completely different 8's. There's a ton of reasons why there could/should be a difference in output. I have to ask first of all, are you sure they're all wired the same? If you have even 1 or 2 out of phase it's going to drastically reduce the output. Try moving the box around too. You could be getting cancellation in the current location. Also, like the other's mentioned, it definitely needs more port area and if you do have it tuned to a true 30hz that's a little low for expecting a great deal of output. I'm pretty sure I've seen Sundown recommend a little higher tuning for the E and SA series 8's. Just my .02
  5. Not near enough port area and your amp settings are way off. Set your crossover setting to around 60-80hz, SSF between 25-35HZ and bass boost off. Set your gain to minimum and slowley turn up until you hear your subs starting to stress or distort. You have a big amplifier and hopefully you have good electrical to supply the amplifier with the proper current.
  6. GANG FIGHT GANG FIGHT THE GANG IS DOWN TO FIGHT
  7. This is why I never come to this forum, you bash peoples post and yet yours doesn't include one shot at a solution. His subs likely are doing around a 140, yet he has stock speakers on a sub par deck? An amp and speakers wouldn't be a bad investment. And since decks can "handle" max volume, go turn up your bass, treble, mid and all of the other settings on max, turn it up all the way on stock HU power and get back to me how it sounds. Go play in traffic OP either go do some of the suggestions on this thread or talk to the shop. No where did I ever say it would be beneficial to play at max, or turn all other setting to max, but if it goes to 35 it should go to 35 with no problems. So you're obviously missing the point. In a way I did give him a good lick of advice. It was to not listen to you so he could save some money and time. Plus, you will never know what he's metering unless he meters it so the comment about his subs doing around 140 is invalid based on lack of knowledge.
  8. my failure???? and i meant jay-C76 Hell Lantz, my bad, I thought you weren't gonna do this box build. I'll send ya the design before the weekend. Get Google SketchUp (it's free) so you can view the design. side note- cut Lantz a little slack guys. He's new to the game (compared to most of us) and is trying to "bass on a budget". He may ask some questions that to us may seem dumb. He's trying to learn, (the hard way sometimes) but all in all at least he asks question instead of assuming.
  9. Just thought the team captain of Team SKAR that runs SKAR would make more sense to have the topic in the SKAR section, that's all.
  10. Pics for panels (more with the panel removed later) J
  11. Girlfriend that bought you a 21" woofer. Dunno what else you could ask for,
  12. Nice score J, now the question becomes what to use and what to resell ROFL. Sounded great and now was uber fast. At least you are funny, although it is usually when you aren't trying to be.
