  1. It takes us three times the amount of time to do a recone than it does build a new sub. (Labor cost here) We do not charge for that labor cost for doing the recone because of the shipping cost incurred by the customer. Shipping is expensive enough as it is, and I don't feel it is right that we charge for labor on top of them having to pay shipping back to us and from us back to them..even though we probably should. Some things you simply take a loss on and write it off. So, in manufacturing something you do things in batches and runs because when you get in 'the zone' of building things and assembling things repetitive motions are much quicker and efficient than grabbing random things and slamming them together. You don't honestly think that a boot manufacture like red wing stops the normal production line every 15 minutes they get in a set of boots that needs new soles put on them do you? Typical lead time is 2 weeks..as explained by our recone process video. It just so happens that he sent his speaker in at the absolute busiest time of the year and the worst possible time you could send one in. Getting 3 more speakers out for people who ordered them for Christmas presents takes priority over doing 1 recone on 1 sub. I'm sorry if you don't feel that way, but that's how things are, it is what works best for us. We get things done as quickly as we possibly can and as efficiently as possible. If we stopped and did re-cones as soon as one came in there would be tons of mix-ups in coils and people would get the wrong subs back and bad things would happen. It is much easier to do in batch form.
  2. you guys picture some big china factory... its not like that... how would you do things? im sure its the best way.... so your hard parts dont mixed up with new hard parts. and what not. its a small company. that does big things,. . NOOOOO!! i know its a small operation... But having only one day for recones is just horse shiit. I have and still own a Fi product... Just hearing this, if my sub did fry i would NOT send it in for a recone. Why...?? My luck it would take 4 + weeks to get it done! I would more likely just buy a new sub...ELSE WHERE! :-) Why you whining? Is your sub there? No. So STFU.
  3. still havent decided what im gonna do... either 2 BTL N3s at 1 ohm.... or 3 BTL N2s at 1.3 ohms.... ?? got a package today... well 4 of them heres all 5 of them together: test fitting the copper buss bars: heres a pic of another investment i made.... 60" sharp led tv
  4. The more you play it, the suspension may soften a tad, I think it lowers the Fs? But you don't need to "break it in" like you would a car. From day one, you can let it rip.
  5. The ZCON's with 14k on them will surely have more output. Sounds like a great project.
  6. Can you please give the pinned topics a good, thorough read ? This one to be more precise: And tell me what you pick up there. I'd like to see all your 4 topics merged into one.

  8. I clicked, but am not reading. Will just be an abridged version of what I've already said. If anyone truly see's ANY value in a DD-1 post it and I'll show you why you are confused. I have quite the value for this item. While I will admit its over priced, but its uses are undeniable. - Doorstop - Paperweight - Chock Block - Primitive hammer - Keystone in the 'failed tools of car audio' collection. J
  9. Imagine how hard it is to keep the prices as they are already, when they are made in the U.S.A. This isn't just another mass produced sony xplod or kicker. A lot of work, and time go into making, designing these woofers.

  12. The first one but the port is crooked and the construction quality needs improvement (panels aren't flush with each other, gaps in the wood, etc.)
  13. Lots of mistakes, would definitely recommend doing it over. If you plan on keeping it, line the internal chamber and extend+stuff the port. This will increase the effective internal volume and lower the tuning frequency, plus it will help cover up some of the negative consequences of your errors. Some tips for the future (some have already been mentioned): - Calculate volume and tuning before buying the supplies - Measure twice before cutting - More caulking in the corners (Leaks are bad) - Construct the port with as few turns as possible - Round any edges of the port - Carpet is your friend - I personally would not have the sub pointing up, mostly due to theft concerns. If you're going to do it, at least tint the back windows. You're rocking an $80 sub in a homemade box back there, not a Ferrari engine.

  15. Every company has issues like these. It's how they handle it which will determine whether you are satisfied or not. I'm sure Nick will take care of you shortly here. Chances are though, if you truly did blow it, it won't be covered by warranty as warranty does not cover abuse.
  16. best I got it figured out to be is .6ft^3 @ ~69hz. There is nothing you can really do to modify the box, its either lengthen the port or reduce the port area. You need to build a whole new box and it will need to be bigger to accommodate the port area and length needed.
  17. It depends on what you mean by "break in". If by "break in" you mean playing the driver at a low volume for some arbitrary period of time then no, that is a useless endeavor. The only way to "break in" a driver is to actually exercise the suspension. Typically you can do this by simply installing the driver and using it like you normally would, allowing the suspension to loosen up naturally over time. If someone feels the need to "break in" a driver prior to using it, then the most expeditious method is to do as was mentioned above and play the driver with a low frequency sine wave free air at full excursion for a while. The only real time I would see a need for this is if someone were installing a brand new sub with an extremely stiff suspension at or just before a competition and the change in T/S parameters causes a measurable difference on the meter. If you have a week you are fine, just play the damn drivers. They will be loosened up with regular, normal use during that time.

So you just basically called Mark's review crap and him basically a liar ... thats ok bro, got nothing to do with me ... And to my knowledge, Dr. Subwoofer is not a moderator on any forum that I post on ... Expecially CA-F and IILE ... Someone lied to you I guess ... Not sure how you go from "the subjective response from anyone isn't impressive to me" to calling Mark a liar. You obviously have a serious problem understanding English. Indeed, I was told he owned IILE. Either way another useless boner forum of people who don't know how to apply information but like big gay group hugs.
