  1. In all seriousness, can I ask what your constant issue is with our drivers? Did they do something to you? You are constantly looking to find something to can attack the product on, or find some fault that is not there. We are open about everything, answer as many questions as we possibly can, and I am not sure where your approach comes from. We appreciate your thoughts and opinions (from all perspectives), but you are always looking to find something to attack the SSA drivers on. Now, we don't have any rep's (only a few dealers), so let's get that out of the way. The build house tests EVERY SINGLE SSA sub woofer before it is shipped out. It is part of agreement, it is what we pay for, it is one of the many reasons we have our drivers built at the best build house in North America. So we can assure it is done, we have seen in plenty in person, and we have a number of our drivers in our possession at all times. There is nothing f'ed up about it. The issue is that SSA does not design or build their product. Fi does. Can you argue that? If I wanted too, or anybody else for that mater, could do the same thing. How did you come up with the claim that SSA are sq drivers? You have tried this approach before in the past, and I will answer the same way. We work together with the build house through the process. There are a number of changes and adjustments that are planned and discussed collectively. Sure, if someone whom is considered the best at this in this market, feels a part of the design is not the best way to reach the goals and specs we are aiming for, I will surely defer, that is only the smart thing to do. For example, I personally wanted the new Icon to have a shorting ring, like the Xcon, to lower some inductance on the new version, but after a number of discussions, it was decided it would have taken too much steel out of the motor effecting motor strength more then the benefit of adding the shorting ring. So there is no argument or anything in question, as I have said this same thing a few times. We don't point to a picture in a foreign build house and slap a logo on it. We would not have such long lead in time, go through many adjustments and multiple prototypes, if we did not have any part in the process. If someone wanted to do something similar, they are going to need to bring a heavy check book, plain and simple. As for the Sound Quality part, I will leave that up to the many reviews, posts, emails etc. showing why it is not a claim.
  2. That is a fairly idiotic objection to be using as a basis to be constantly posting negative comments in SSA threads when you come to realize how frequently this happens not just in car audio, but in most products in the world. It is common practice in every industry, including car audio. Just because SSA doesn't completely design the driver doesn't mean they don't have input into various aspects of the design and test/make improvements upon prototypes before sending the driver to production. The only difference compared to most other car audio brands is that SSA has a buildhouse that will build per order and ship directly to the customer, which by the way saves the consumer $$ as SSA doesn't have to pay freight to have a large order shipped to their facility, where they would need to pay rent on a warehouse to store the merchandise and then pay employees to manage that inventory.
  3. Show me anyplace you find that statement directed toward the ZCON. Aaron has stated multiple times that the ZCON is not a sound quality driver. All of the other lines ARE geared toward SQ and having owned them all in various sizes I can back that up. While we do share some opinions on the ZCON, I simply don't understand why you have now targeted SSA as a whole. You weren't happy with the ZCON you have made that clear.
  4. All SSA drivers are shown power before leaving the build house to assure proper mechanical alignment and functional ablity. Just because we do not see it in person, doesn't not mean it doesn't not happen, I have personally seen these procedure done hundreds of times on our products coming off the line and have full trust in our build house's ability. That being said, some times things do happen and no one is perfect, please email us with your concerns and we can work it out and take care of you best through that channel. Thanks.
  5. It was a joke to imply what other forums do.. Since SSA stands out as being different.
  6. I'm sorry, but this is not Skar. Unlike Kevin, Aaron and Mark know how their equipment works and how to design it. They didn't just call Scott and say, "hey, I want a line of subwoofers that does this and looks this way. Let's get into the big boys. JL Audio and Kicker do not produce their own products either. They have outsourced to buildhouses for many years. So, in effect, they are just the same as SSA, so using your mindset, I could assume that their products are on the same level as those from JL and Kicker since they use the same business model. Let's get even more involved. EVERY auto manufacturer in the world uses other manufacturers for different parts of their cars. Hell many companies make the same products for several different manufacturers. This is how the world works.
  7. Yes, I am really happy with the design of this. The whole idea was to have a ton of power on tap under the floor when I need it, and the abilty to have an empty truck above floor (simply by taking the box out). I couldn't have expected a better, stronger sub structure then what I received. Now, we essentially have a rolling test labratory Very happy with the outcome.
  8. I have nothing against edouble or anyone who has a critique on our sub woofers, just want to make sure correct information is posted.
  9. too much power too big of box = bottomed out coil = damage to bottom of coil = rub on poll or motor.....................
  10. I think the issue here, is someone can't design or build a proper enclosure. Ask ANYONE who heard my ZCON's, got silly low and had 2x rated power on each. Never sounded like they were "stressing"

  12. I haz no sand on my clam? But you have a clam?
  13. This seems to be the issue. I believe this hit it right on the nose and I thank you for your input. I would also like to thank everyone who actually gave me suggestions on how to approach this problem. Today, I placed my subwoofer inside another enclosure that belongs to a local member, swift. And all seems fine, the subwoofer showed no signs of stress and sounded great. So the conclusion to this is that, in MY application, I could NOT use a larger enclosure. Swift will begin building my next enclosure soon. This seems to be the issue. I believe this hit it right on the nose and I thank you for your input. Thanks, yes, I have learned how important of a role the enclosure plays. I hope to have a much better results now. Just to clear everything up, I have ALWAYS stand behind SSA and this fault is MY doing and I do apologize for any confusion. The subwoofer is in 100% working condition. The flex in your truck had me like glad to hear you have your issue ironed out.. now let's hope there is not damage... Was the scrapping/scratching noise present at all Sen? No, the scratching noise completely went away. I played a few songs off my ipod that I am familiar, one paticular song my T.I. that drops extremely low and all you could see was wonderful sub porn
  14. Just remember quality and custom costs monies... He is a great guy to work with...
  15. Build looks great. I love those RCA's. Would you be willing to build a set of 3 for me and ship them?
  16. P99RS??? HOLY SHYT!!!!

  18. Why is it a bad thing that SSA leaves threads like this open? I see it as a good thing, they're not trying to hide anything. They DONT have anything to hide. There is no reason to lock this or delete it, as far as i see.
  19. I can see what I can do for you a little later on. How does free air on 1k sound? Don't give them any ideas. The idiots will be sending them back in stating, " I saw them take 1K freeair."
  20. Im putting 4300 clamped power on the zcons in a box peaking at 37 and play 24 hrts wide open with no rubbing of coarse after about a few min the coils heat up and and burn glue . thats when it gets turned down, not off to cure. amazing power handling and quality . I dont recomend just anyone trying this . unless you have YEARS of experiance. go by specs and remember there speced for internal airspace not external.
  21. headed out to the show this morning hosted by wobbly woofers. wish me some luck.
  22. Damn those pics look awesome! What is your new approach to fitting that beast in?
  23. Wow amazing build so far. Sexy sub too!
  24. Pretty sure I said that, or something similar. Not sure what you are reaching for, but that statement is just that. Yes, we have the Zcon that is capable of what is now bass boxing world record holding levels, but that has nothing to do with the primary focus of our brand which has always been great sounding sub woofers.
  25. I am sorry to read you are having an issue. You are the first to report back about something like this. As for testing at the factory, it is far from cocky, it is just fact. They test the drivers before shipping to ensure no defects before shipping, hence the point of testing them before shipping. In all of our subs over the years I have used, and others have used in competition that were installed and used correctly, there have never been issues of scratching. Yes, there has been an older Icon that was dropped during shipping that shifted the motor enough that caused damage to the stack, which in turn there was a coil scratch. As for the Dcon's, it is impossible for two drivers to fail at the exact same time in the same enclosure. If you want someone at the build house to look at the drivers personally, shoot us an email and we will get it taken care of.
  26. SKERT......... Take a break people! I just called Sencheezy with some tips on evaluating his install and will be testing these shortly. In the meantime, let's just wait until the tests are done so we can move on andor conclude the results of this thread. It is my belief that the box being used is too large for the setting that the subsonic filter is currently set at. It appears it is set at a general rule of thumb setting which cannot be used for such a large enclosure. So.. Sencheezy will be fine tuning the subsonic filter shortly per my instructions and will report back shortly with results. hopefully, this wil be resolved shortly. This is no way, i believe, is a result of ANY company's product! It just sounds like setting error.
  27. I heard it to and didnt say anything. I was assuming it was your box. Let's throw it in my box and hook it to my sundown amp and see it still does it. You know my enclosed will hammer the lows so let's check it out. If it is your enclosure we will start on a new one for you. Someone is buying my Q tomorrow so box will be empty and power supply waiting and wires waiting. Let me know I personally think the enclosed is too big, it may be leaking, and also the port seems huge for such a big box. It sounded like a unloading issue to me personally
  28. Why in the hell would you even want to have your Fi subwoofer reconed by PSI? Send it to Fi. Get it reconed properly with the original parts.
  29. Just got all the wiring laid down yesterday and reversed the stock amp. The LC2i is wired and the GTO is working. I ran a run for remote in anyways just in case. All the wire is ran along the factory wire with many zip ties. Everything has fit perfectly so far. I disconnected the sub the factory sub to hook everything correctly to the LC2i. Pretty sure I wont need to take the panels off again. Think the best way to mount the amp on the stock amp mount would be to used a block of wood like a baffle. I could cover it with stretchy black carpet I got laying around. Cant get that done till my SAX-1200D get here. The only wire missing is the amp ground for obvious reasons. Silver/Black = RCA Brown/Yellow = Factory sub (-) White/Yellow = Factory sub (+) Copper = LC2i Power (+/-) Silver = Remote in Blue = Remote out Red = Amp power (+) Also laid the speaker wire for the sub but forgot to take a good picture of it. Its larger silver/black knu 12ga. (sorry for the bad pictures)
  30. I recommend you never use a PSI recone.
  31. Hm.. Well if your driving and your only at 12.2v, Id say it might be a bad alternator.
  32. Well, I know you've all seen sub unboxings before and at the risk of being a complete and total bore I'll show the unboxing of the 10" XCON anyway. Mainly because I know how much you guys love sub porn!! First impressions are that this thing has a nearly inexplicably large motor, lol. Not really but the size of it makes removing it from the shipping box without destroying said box nearly impossible. I seriously wonder how the hell they pack them without tearing up the box. Of course the build quality is second to none. Everything is perfectly lined up, no excess glue, just perfection. I can't wait to hand this to a couple of good friends and see the looks on their faces!! Did I mention the motor on this thing is massive? Huge? I loved seeing the number of tinsel leads on this thing. Much like my Q's there's more than enough tinsel lead there to handle all the power this thing can take. Well, those are my first thoughts. I'm quite possitive I'm going to love the new setup I'm looking at doing. I'm really looking forward to getting the PR's in and getting this bish completed finally!!
  33. We have 14 gauge Cadence speaker wire in stock and will be added to all enclosure orders at no charge to you. They will be simply crimped in unless you would like them soldered in which we can do at no charge. I will be ordering larger power/ground wires for those that would like to upgrade to larger wire, this will be a charge that is yet to be determined at this time. For now enjoy the "free bees" in life.. Yes, this means if your enclosure has not shipped yet this will be added to your enclosure!!
  34. Run a positive from the front batt to the back batt and you can frame ground the rear batt. Just be sure to grind off the contact area for the ground. As far as being hard on the alt it's all a matter of current draw. If you constantly draw the batts down and the alt has to recharge 2 instead of 1 well common sense will tell you that yes, it will be harder on the alt. But for your setup (as long as it's still the setup mentioned in the other thread) you should be fine. Again make sure you do the big 3. When you make the run from front to back fuse both ends of the wire no further than 18 inches away from each batt.
