  1. Alrighty...I think I've got enough goodies to show off now. It's not at all close to being finished though but it is what it is. With that said, here we go! Head Unit - Kenwood KDC-X794 (May end up being a Pioneer DEH-80PRS) Mids & Highs Amps - 2x Precision Power Black Ice BK800.4 Mono Amp - Crescendo Audio BC2000D Front Stage - Undecided (Currently Phoenix Gold RSD65cs but will be replaced) Rear Fill - 2x Pioneer TS-A1604C Subwoofer - Sound Solutions Audio ZCON 18D2 Wiring - About $300 worth of Knu CCA and accessories Electrical - Stock alt but will have a couple of batts to support the 2K. ON TO THE PICTURES! Compared to my pretty small hand And my SA-12's compared to the same hand LOL Compared to my iPod Classic You probably already know what this is... But If you didn't! Pics of my rear fill, they're hella nice for what I paid for them. Nice tweets as well Both Sets
  2. Had some time today to mess around with my new setup, its beating pretty hard, and not doing to bad for only having one run of 1/0 to the rear batt, stock alt, and the Kinetik 3800 is holding up pretty well, cant wait till i get my alt more wire and batts.
  3. I dislike SMD as much as the next guy, but if this audio thing ever falls through he should be at the top of the recruitment list for most Fortune 500 companies. The guy is a marketing genius. Armed with nothing more than youtube videos & online forum promotion, and despite his obvious lack of understanding of the basic principles of both acoustics and electronics, he was able to turn his name into a fairly prominent brand with nothing more than mediocre builds and primarily ignorant logic in the process and design of the system. That takes some real marketing talent to pull off. Companies would kill to be able to build a brand out of absolutely nothing (by "nothing" I mean no real skill, talent or knowledge) the way he has.
  4. I'm not getting real good numbers at 1 ohm so that makes me think my rise is high. I can't keep them our of protect at .25 so that makes me think my rise is real low. I guess I need to figure it out. I did a 158.7in 2 5ks @.5 each. Best is 157.9 in 4 5ks at 1ohm each. Something is not making sense.
  5. I'm pretty certain there shall be pics galore. J
  6. Looking good, you are making pretty good progress on this.
  7. 1 point
i stopped updating it.. i got several more not posted. Chuck is the only one besides me who has the rest.
  8. woww, I can't believe my eyes! This is amazing! Keep it up!
  9. You sir are wrong. A dual 2 ohm sub can be wired to 1ohm or 4ohm TWO dual 2 ohm subs can be wired to 0.5 ohm, 2ohm or 8ohm. It is rather imperative that you choose right now how many drivers you plan on using so the amp choices are narrowed down now rather than keeping your amp options drastically open.
  10. and you had lost faith in me senchez 1 layer cut out: all 4 cut out: gonna do a 5th layer as well but that will go around the outside of the subs and cover the extra gaps around the wall... port/sub brace in: all sealed up: wanted to get subs in tonight but it got dark so subs will go in tomorrow
  11. Hello and Here are MY answers for the questions you have asked and are IMO. My first question is how many fuses should I run throughout setup? No fuse from batt to batt, you can if you'd like for extra safety, Also, if not already, I would recommend matching batteries. You will then want to fuse from batt to amp(s). If you are going to use a D-block, you want to fuse both leads from DB that Distrubute to the amp(s). So that will be 3 fuses in my setup. should I run this 18" from the battery {front duralast, or trunk yellow top}, or should I run a 200amp ANL at each battery? answered above distribution block, should this be fused? Answered above If so how big of a fuse for the AB output, how big for the 4 channel output? Check for manufactures specs Should the capacitor be fused also? Remove Cap Should I upgrade the big 3 to 1/0 gauged as well? yes The wire I am looking to buy is http://www.wireandsu...0-fslash-01.htm , will this do or should I step up to http://www.wireandsu...0-fslash-01.htm ? I would recommend visiting weldingsupply.com, if your on a budget, I would ebay any 0gauge wire kit. High output Alt- Is 200amp enough or should I go bigger? For your equipment, yes, if you are going to upgrade your system in the future, I would recommend buying the most of what you can afford. Take a look at mechman/dc-alt(not a fan)/singer alternator/ohio generators Power/Ground Wire weldingsupply.com (search "cable") Fuses I have always like the fuses that come with AudioPipe equipment Wire Connectors Take a few looks at this thread Distribution Block Darvex.com has some nice ones Hopes that helps man. LMK if you have any other questions
  12. Get rid of the capacitor. Its basically useless and will just cause more confusion.
  13. Those amps were made to reproduce perfect sound ... Sound Quality machines !!! Class A/B amps back then never was required to draw enough current to need such large cables ... Back then, they cared about what sounded the absolute best ... Actually they were all current hogs, but the connectors just simply were not available. I recall seeing competitors in the early 90s with multiple runs of 4ga to the batts. They sure did seem to sound better though. I think its just nostalgia. I miss the pure gain blocks and big heat sinks.
  14. What does everyone think?
  15. Awesome having a family like you all! Made me feel 100' tall and proud as hell! Humble to see what IAK has became, honored. Good times , ftw!
