  1. This is how every installer in the land would do it unless you specified you wanted new wiring ran. Then they would charge accordingly.
  2. Hmmm I think it is about time for me to start a build log.
  3. New toy alert!!! Snap-On Verus Wireless Scan tool. I bought this with complete coverage. US, Asian, and Euro OBDI and OBDII coverage, J-2534 flash programming with a built in 4 channel scope and a Snap-On Shopkey5 information system (think Online Mitchel Manual). Pretty much the most badass scanner available.
  4. Ur wrong, DD is the best, the coils are sprinkled with fairy dust and it's ok to charge $2000 for the Z series.
  5. The icon or xcon drivers would be suitable subs. I assume the box is jl's recommended specs? So it's more than likely tuned low, under 30 hertz. The w6 is designed to produce a flat response in smaller enclosures. If you use the same enclosure you will get a little peakier response with the icon or xcon but I don't think it would be a bad thing being you are also looking for output as well
  6. 1 point
2 shirts both size XL Chop and you have money coming you way.
  7. It's all about labor costs and anything they can do to save a buck.
  8. Looks normal to me If you amped your speakers, you wouldn't have this issue anywho
  9. My Front stage amps came in Friday. Here is my tweeter amp- The tweeter amp does not do 2000w, lol. After careful reading, this amp is rated at 100w x 2 @4ohm. So, still a little beefy for it's potential but doable in my application. My other amp that is going to power my 4 8s- This amp will power my 8s with 750w x 2 of power.
  10. Pics of the sleeve I just did on Jordan (Godsmack). He flew in and we jammed out the sleeve over the course of two days!! Enjoy. http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.352057994857993.81379.100001613862707&type=3

  14. did this just for you opened her back up and now each sub has a set of 8g going to the amp... so 8 wires all together( 4 pos and 4 neg) since im going out the back passanger side of the wall and not the back anymore i made a little plug: its all back together now but to dark to take a pic

  25. Around 250 ft of 8ga and 100ft of 1/0... The Audio Technix wire is ok. That's all I can really say. Getting my GF to do some work Her cutting some of my new 8ga One side wired up Final postioning All I have for now, only one sub is wired up, I will do the other side when it stops raining.
  26. It's about time I can legally drink.
  27. Headroom isn't so you can eq. Just like everything in life running things at full throttle push boundaries. Avoiding those extremes is a good idea. Your point is valid, but if you add +3dB you no longer have headroom... Actually the goal of an eq is to remove anomalies. A perfect amp will play exactly what is put into it (ie, flat) a perfect speaker as well. Sometimes this isn't the case though. Conveniently your ear and brain aren't so good at discerning little details when they are masked in the rest of the music a peak well above the normal level though will be seriously noticeable. EQ is a tool to remove these artificial peaks or anomalies. Pretty much these are always cuts. There are exceptions based on when you've made other compromises, but you should not design a system that will require boost at the same time it is impossible to design a system that doesn't need cuts. Your comment isn't that far off though as it is still a good idea to understand that and also not boost for that reason if you are running on the hairy edge. Of course those that run hairy couldn't hear the distortion anyways Yeah I knew it was off, but the EQ idea could at least give them something perhaps more tangible.
