  1. it was a pleasure of mine to order my first but not last opening order today. i spoke to mark from ssa and he placed my order. i already sold four of the 12" zcons to a customer. mark was very helpful and even said i might get a banner if he had one, and some literature too. i am so far very well pleased with product and customer care! keep up the good work SSA! sincerely: steve from S&A in chicago

  3. Just got these in... designed them based on many requests for a really good sealed box 8" woofer. Power rating is pending testing but mechanically I designed them around 300 watts or so (half the spiders of the SA-8 v.2) -- we'll do our thermal cycle to determine the official rating. As is typical with our products the rating giving will be a "worst case" rating and many people will have no problem running a bit extra. We built upon our newly tooled platform from the SA-8 v.2 so it shares many of the advantages of that platform from the get-go. These feature an under-hung coil with predicted linear x-max of ~14.5mm one-way by 70% BL method using an 8-layer copper 2" coil with 1/2" of winding width. The total depth for mounting is right at 4.75" measured, I will be measuring actual T/S on them later on today after some break-in time. Pricing is also pending final costs from our parts suppliers. On to the photos : * E8 v.2 then SD-2 8" then SA-8 v.2 * For this design I used drilling in the basket as opposed to the vent ring to save depth. * Solid pole like the other SD-2 woofers so there is no need to leave room to breathe behind them. * Same spider as the SA-8 v.2 but only one layer (top layer)
  4. Got some factory pictures just now -- it's shipping to us soon. Assuming all goes well we'll start production of this and the 2500D v.2 very soon! * I had mentioned we were working on double inputs but it wasn't going to work out with the narrow casing. Outside of dedicated SPL the difference is not significant, though. * We got the production RCAs on this prototype. * BEEF

  6. Well, my business partner was on a mission to bank some frequent flier miles off some cheap cross country air-fare. He mentioned Vegas, Grand Canyon, (YAWN) then Los Angeles. I told him if we could get up to Simi Valley to count me in! Long story short, Grand Canyon was a big arse hole in the ground, Vegas was pretty cool...helps that my partner does a ton of traveling and gets the VIP treatment at hotels... But actually visiting Zed Audio and meeting with Stephen in person was tremendous. Picture Santa's workshop without so many migets. JK But actually pretty cool. Mostly we just talked about politics and having some laughs, but as always when we talk, I learned some good tech stuff and got some hints about some of the other non audio related projects he is working on. Also he said he is working on a lower price/power lineup of amps as well as a line with tiny footprint. (Oh yeah, I bought a little souvenier of course Sadly economy is soft and production cost is prohibitively high so no MEGALITH in the near future Simi Valley is a nice town and Stephen was very generous with his time and hospitality. My life is now officially complete and I have to say I'm not a distributor or supplier or anything. Just a regular guy who buys a few of his amps and sends him blown up stuff to repair. Kudos to Stephen and his wife for being so welcoming.

  9. well on sunday (6/3/12) i did the nascar experience was a shit ton of fun i will say. my grandmother bought me, my stepdad and cousin all a the same thing for our birthdays. i got to drive a nascar and a indy car... it was TIGHT lol. my top speed was 153mph in the nas car and 149 in the indy car. of course the car had a rev limited at 5k so the car would only go so fast. i had to take a 1 hour class before driving each car for safty reason but it was worth it haha. WE WERE THE ONLY ONES IN THE CAR. NO PEOPLE TELLING US WHAT TO DO ( except through the mic)... here are a few pics and a short video or two.... me and my girl before the race me taking off in the one and only Dale Ernhardt Jr.s car here is a video my girl took of me doing my first lap. it doesnt loook like im going that fast, but i asure you i was flyinggg! now onto the indy car pics (no vid.) me taking off it was definently a experience i will never forget
  10. thanks to ssa, i am now going to sell the line in my shop. i am so excited to have the best subwoofers that wont be available in my area and i wont have to worry about all of those discount malls and flea markets as well. for a long time i have been competing with those places and could barely make some dough with subs, because everyone whored the lines out! thanks to ssa i will now have the best subs around available to my customers who want better equiptment than a kicker cvr. AND THE BEST PART OF ALL IS NO COMPETITION FROM ANYONE IN MY AREA! chicago is gonna know the name ssa when im done hooking up my customers rides! thanks aaron and mark as well as the builders and family of ssa.
  11. IMO it just increases cost. If there is no gain in performance on something that isn't seen daily then it's useless.
  12. We have the enclosure suggestions up, just don't have the Free 3D Sketch Up enclosure cut-sheet downloads up yet. The Gcon seemed to be happy in enclosures similar to the Xcon sealed and fairly similar to the Icon ported. The Gcon is a higher then our average, in regards to Qts. So it has turned out to be a great option as the Dcon thrives ported, but some people wanted to save space and the Gcon sealed has been an excellent option.
  13. To ensure that contact is organized and prompt please read the following. DO NOT post on Facebook or the Forums to request order status, warranty information, or pricing. It is VERY difficult to know who you are or what you ordered this way. Forums and Facebook are designed to share new product information, customer installs, updates, etc and are not optimal for the aforementioned things. MAKE SURE you provide your REAL NAME somewhere on the e-mail -- if you are asking about an order make sure to tell us the name and e-mail on the Paypal payment as they very often do not match. For order status and tracking : [email protected] For basic pricing (including stock drop-ins) : [email protected] For odd-ball stuff (custom re-cones / parts) : [email protected] (be patient, my box gets bombarded) For dealer inquiries : Dealer Inquiry || request more information For warranty : RMA Form || request your RMA # here For general information / tech questions : Contact Us or [email protected] If you absolutely cannot reach us electronically and it's an emergency you can call. It is preferred to use electronic contact so there is a written record for future reference. If you do call; DO NOT call us 100 times in a row if you don't get an answer the first time -- leave a message and/or wait 15-20 minutes and try again. Someone is not beside the phone 100% of the time but someone is there most of the time. Again -- it is preferable to use the above contact before calling. Calling opens up significant room for errors and leaves no record of the conversation. 704-528-9700 : Ext 3
  14. .15 cu ft per sub, the SSA website has really good info with all the specs and enclosure recommendations. Sadly, there are no enclosure designs available for download yet, but Aaron Clinton, who is a member here, is remarkably helpful with any/all the less than conventional questions I asked. I am sure he can answer any question you throw his way.
  15. I'm not sure if "the727kid" is active on this board, but I beleive he did this, you might try and PM him. I do know he is active on the Challenger Talk forum, and his system looks amazing. Good luck on your quest.
  16. Skip the DD-1. Gain match via DMM. SSF setting is pretty simple. The SSF is nothing more than a highpass filter, which means the frequency that the SSF is set to is the -3db point of the signal (presuming they use a basic Butterworth type filter for the SSF). Using your example; Play the 30hz test tone with the SSF knob turned all the way down (lowest frequency setting) or off. Measure the output voltage of the amplifier. The amount of voltage doesn't matter, literally doesn't matter, you just need to know what voltage you are starting at. Multiply the voltage you just measured by .707 and record your answer, this is your target voltage. Turn the SSF knob up until the voltage decreases to the target voltage. This means you've set the SSF so that 30hz is -3db, which means the SSF is set to 30hz. So, let's say you play your test tone and measure voltage at 2V. 2 * .707 = 1.414V Turn the SSF knob up until the voltage output from the amplifier decreases to 1.414V Your SSF is now set to 30hz. Repeat for 2nd amp. You don't have to start with the same initial voltage, just multiple the initial voltage by .707 and then set the SSF knob to that new target voltage. Now they are both set to the same frequency. Last, I don't know what you mean by "Eventually I'll use some sort of Bass eq to bring the voltage back up." There will be very minimal loss of preamp voltage using a y-splitter, very possibly there will be no measurable loss. No need for a "bass eq to bring the voltage back up".
  17. There is no way you would hear the difference between 600 and 750 watts each. Plan on about a month, but they will be worth the wait. The would be a very good choice for that size sealed enclosure, with that amount of power. If you can stay on the bigger end of your range I would.
  18. Awesome! Care to share information about the controller mod?
  19. Just wondering who may have won the contest? I am guessing nobody on SSA won?
  20. Perhaps my logic at statement eluded you. It was a rhetorical question meant to make you think, not respond.
  21. Try to find a used Sundown saz 1500 : would be a very good match with your subs. I know Crescendo and DC make cheap 2000 w amps. Take a look at them before buying the Hifonics. You already have a Kicker amp ? So you could run a single zx 1500 to the subs. Sell the one you have for the 1500. I'm sure you can find very good deals here. good luck !
