Edit the title of your thread with your location, so your more likely to get someone's attention. Worst case scenario you go to the bar for a couple hours, come back and say: "They sound awesome."
  3. I'm definitely going with SSA. The GCON is at the top of my list, but I'm not ruling out the XCON either
  4. Just noticed this today: DC Creations Professionally built and designed sub-woofer enclosures shipped world wide! You have got to be kidding me, if you can afford to pay overseas shipping on an enclosure you must be able to find a good fabricator around....

  7. My box is 13ply Russian Baltic Birch. very nice wood. Not cheap but you say you have a hook up. 45's in corners and also with bondo added then sanded to create rounded corners. Then resin, sand heavily and paint with a high gloss automotive paint to get a complete smooth surface inside. lots of work..... All doubled 3/4 with rod bracing. Strong smooth bitch when done. Results....unsure....
  8. build it out of screen material like for a window when you open it so you can let in air. its so strong
  9. Well the old baby battery bank is finally kicking it fast. I didnt expect it to hold up under 6k for too much long but i cant seem to keep it from dipping into mid 11s almost instantly. As much as it hurt pushing the pay now button i got some killer batteries coming this week. I ended up going with the 3 XS Power XP3000s and ill be getting a XP2000 or 2500 for under the hood soon after depending which will fit. I figure going from a measly 150ah to 400ah+ sould put some serious kick back into the beast. If i dont get the gains im looking for it may be time to leave sundown amps for a large .5ohm capable amp. Never been a dd nut hugger but the m4a looks to supply stupid power at a lower voltage than the ns-1. I feel for a daily groundpounder I may sway towards the m4a.
  10. lol. You broke 158 with a pair of 18s and roughly 3 times the rated thermal power and want to get rid of them now... A recone(s) is going to be a fraction of the price of new sub(s).
  11. So I got some stuff out of the garage and started the re-installation of the amps, with a little spruce up on the side. Here is a little action pic. And with a little time and effort the new/old amps were in. Here is a tall and slender shot for those into them tall and slender. Tall and slender upside down for the kinky. Some cool blue light action I was able to get everything in just before a little rain came in. Up next a little test and tune. Thanks for watching.
  12. Topgear, building a motor home episode--hilarious.
  13. I hope to see some pictures of that.
  14. Impedance comes from the reactance to an AC signal. It changes with frequency. DCR is a measure of DC resistance. Not impedance. The impedance rating given by a manufactuer is an average. You cannot measure impednace with a DMM because it will only measure DCR, unless you use it in conjunction with other test equipment. Impedance is also heavily affected by your alignment, actually moreso than the driver's average impedance on it's own...
  15. Sounds like you have a dual 4 ohm coil SP4. **EDIT didn't realize this wasn't an option** Just remember, you cannot measure voice coil impedance with a single DMM. You are measuring DCR, which is much different...
