  1. I started thinking. I really want to almost rewire the whole truck when I run two 5500's. I will want to do 4-5 runs of 2/0 from front to back, add atleast 2-3 group 31 AGM's to rear, deaden roof, and add the 8's to the doors. I am looking to spend atleast another 1500-1750 bucks to do this. Considering I can yank the subs out and remove the box / wall easily I will go ahead and run the 3 on one 5500 till maybe after Thanksgiving or even Christmas. There is so much going on through the holidays I want to get this in and be done for a while. I do not want to leave it be for a couple months while I buy everything. Which could take time since my wife is better off not knowing what I spend on this thing, LOL. So.... The sub arrived today, my dumbass didnt order speaker wire and ring terminlas till last night so I cant hear it till they arrive. I said screw it and put new box in by myself, I have been moving furniture and powerlifting for the last 18 years, surely this little box aint gonna win. haha The measurements are exact and I got alittle lucky really. The trim panels will be very small. There is only maybe .5 inch of play on each side at the top corners. Here are pics and a video. Hopefully it will still get fairly loud on 5500+ watts. It will be wired down to around a .5 ohm. It would be .67 if they were dual 1's but these coils read .6 - .7. I will post more pics and some videos asap.
  2. Is it named whiskey? He speaks with an accent. We named him Scotch. J I prefer the fella with the Kentucky accent... You know... Bourbon.
  3. Well i=e/r i=current e=voltage r=resistance v and i are your friend and want alot of them v is like your mom you can only take so much of her....or until you get to like 15 volts, but you dont need to worry about that I is like your best GF and you want as much of them as you can get. resistance is like her hater friends that get in the way of you two being together the less of them the better. resistance is stopping the full potential of your alt or battery from reaching its destination typically. So the more runs you have the less resistance and more current you will get to your amp. I think http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/Support/rftech.aspx#ampcalc explains it a little better with real results.
  4. Instead of stuffing more batteries back there, an alt would be a far better investment.
  5. Thanks guys Super easy, 4 bolts and I can do it in 5 mins by myself. My wife come outside I was carrying the door and I felt like Clyde on "Everywhich way but loose" haha Right turn Clyde..... She just take shakes her head at me.. It will look great when I get it all trimmed out and vinyl on it going with the same theme with the padded black vinyl. Really anxious to hear it.
  6. It's peanut butter jelly time!
  7. Is it named whiskey?
  8. good thing the box is strong or some one would have a shifter in a not so welcomed area. lol
  9. Cept the culture of CAPITALISM! I mean...we don't want to be SOCIALISTS do we? That's almost COMMUNISM! You misunderstood me completely, I am a huge capitalist. The problem isn't capitalism at all, but the fact that we are breeding an era of uneducated dipshits that have no class, no culture, no work ethic, no desire and are slugs. Somehow even with all that there is the need to have everything that other cultures have, but not to work for it. As a country the answer has been to buy cheaper. No longer do home appliances last 20+ years, but instead 5. Everything here is disposable as the desire to not wait and "save a buck" is so strong it's destroying the American dream. That and the political direction of the country due to this desire to have what you won't work for is fucking scary as well. If you can't afford it, save up, work more, do something. Not like a sub in general is expensive. Put it in perspective. I just did some landscaping and hired a guy off CL for $15/hr to be my grunt. He put in 20 hours of hauling shit. $300 buys a pretty sweet sub and was 2 days worth of work. It really isn't that hard to save up some money if you actually try. And sitting on your ass watching tv and the internet "looking" for a job is not trying.
  10. Even if it were a few bucks more, isn't it better to support your community forum. The forum is free for people like you to join and learn. Give a little back....
  11. Little update... Got some panels put together. Still have quite a bit of work to do.

I'm sorry (dunno why I'm apologizing) but I'm with M5 on this one. SQ is not objective first off, and its judged by ppl who KNOW what SQ sounds like. Im sorry but youre looking for the wrong things. I personally guarantee you (and most of you others) that you don't know what SQ sounds like and would never ever ever ever be willing to sacrifice a bigass expensive woofer like a Q12 for that purpose if you knew. X10 maybe. For any amount of real power, BL all the way. TS specs muddy under thermal duress anyways. Not that most wouldn't be equally happy with one or the other, or could even tell the difference lol. Now I've owned a triple stack Q15 for daily and a plug mag Q12 also for daily. I had SPL BL 12s for SPL (duh) and a BL 15 for bassrace. I now run two BtL N2 12s for daily and bassrace. That's post army, I ran rockford Hx2s and TRFs mostly from 96 and on, with some random JLs and kickers and Soundstream mixed in. I've installed every brand of woofer except DLS and Ground Zero, in most configurations and sizes. With any brand, individual model, size, and power class, you can just as easily have a good result as a bad one, if you are a half-assed type of person. Chances are you couldn't guess the brand of any subwoofer if you were to only hear it playing, so how different can they really be? Obviously there's variability in construction quality, so it makes sense to choose consistent brands like Fi/SSA. Somebody even said you really don't know until you hear it, which is true for 99.9% of car audio. But its up to you to DESIGN the system correctly around the equipment and the space available, budget, etc. If you don't know how to DESIGN a system, you ask stupid questions like "which plays lower?". You can get a 5" midrange to play 5Hz (probably not audibly, but you didn't specify that did you?) its not up to the speaker. When I had a Q15 I had it tuned to like 29Hz in an explorer, and it played plenty low, and loud over almost all frequencies. I did a Q12 sealed in 2 cubes in my wifes jeep and hated the lack of low end produced by the loading direction of the sub. Ported the enclosure and tuned it high, like 36, and i still play down to 25 easy because it loads much better now. My current setup with two BtL 12s plays the loudest on the lows out of all the setups, even with a trunk wall, because my sedan has a long cabin that I take full advantage of. Point I'm making is you have to have goals set and prudent planning to make a great system. Brand names are an after thought. If its going to sound good It's because it was designed properly. End of story. You know what i look for in a woofer? Low Vas. That's what gets me excited. More room for ports baby.
  14. The general Idea, the batteries are supported by a 2x4 base. The jumpers from the left pair to the right pair is wired up with some 2/0 All done... I will be recarpeting the floor, the base is supported by 2x4's around the outside, the floor is not touching the batteries.

Nice answer to my question, lol.... have you ever even owned either driver in question?? You dont have to convience me of anything, you choose to join in on a thread started by someone asking a question and yet you dont not even remotely try to convince him or really even help. Im sure we are all glad the "SSA Tech Team" representative is such help to us all with your smart ass short "high and mighty" answers as ALWAYS. But I will say this and leave this thread alone. Being a successful business owner myself, nobody would be allowed to represent my company name in the way you do SSA. You honestly bring negativity to almost everything you post in, your sig is proof of your self thought holiness. For clarification, I haven't owned either driver. Familiar with them though. Just the same as the Porsche Cayenne Turbo and BMW X5 M. i haven't owned them either, but am very familiar and instead made a different decision in the ML63. Amusing to me that the expectation was that I own them, but the comparison was in a vehicle "that I heard" also showing no ownership. As I've said in every thread like this. 99% of the time Q buyers should buy the BL. There are exemptions as they've sold over a 100. In this thread that was obvious as well as a whole it wasn't thought out very well, not much detail was shared, and a very simple question ended in 3 question marks. The OP obviously couldn't figure the answer out himself which means in implementation there will be difficulties, his goals are probably dubious, and there is a definite advantage of the BL for that sort of user. Don't think you can attempt to argue with that. As for trying to attack me, if it makes you feel better feel free. I don't and won't state my business status or my background to try to develop respect as instead I'll let my posts do it for me. If you don't like what I say, that's fine I don't expect everyone too.
