Yes you can use your amp to get you by until you buy your other amp, it will not harm the sub from underpowering, just make sure you set your gain correctly and not try to get more power from the amp than is can safely deliver.
  2. Granted he will need some more processing to take full advantage, but there is NO need for new drivers. Running actively, he can manipulate power, and shape response electronically. He can't do that with the passives and that will change the way the drivers perform. Keep what you have now since they are quality drivers and work with it. If you find yourself wanting to upgrade, then you will be ready for this. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the drivers you have now.
  3. wow that sounds old!!90bby here LOL JK!!!!!!

What part of not an audible difference is confusing? Ratings are not recommendations. If you are budget limited either save up or be smart and step down a notch.
  5. Aaron got the reference prior....

Its funnier than having to replace your sub because your signal was so clipped you heated up the coil and fried it.
  7. Looks super smooth and like it should be there, so it has so sound equaly as good!
  8. just OMG!!! soooo when I come to PA, I'll stay a few days and we'll get some work done... lol

Set the gains right, like he said. I would also keep all the bass settings on the headunit flat or at "0". No bass boost and sub level on 0. I had a BTL N2 18 on 1,500w rms and loved it. Then put it on a bc3500D and it got nasty . Just keep saving.
  10. One interview down, one to go. I always find the "Why should we hire you?" question amusing. Sometimes I just wanna tell 'em "You can't expect me to ball like Sean working as janitor, can you?!?!?!"
  11. They don't need rms power for great sound/performance. Don't be so fixated on the wattage number, and worry about features, size, quality, etc. Much of the time, it is a better usage of money to buy a used high quality amplifier or less power, then a brand new amplifier of higher power ratting. Yes, headroom is great to have, but when there is a budget applied to the amplifier, I feel headroom is not as important.
  12. Pillars came out oem.
  13. Thanks and the doors were done by Xtreme Car Audio here in Italy. The only things I didn't do to this truck was the doors, the stinger meter console and the port on the box. Thanks. Models like her and even better looking are at every show you go to here. They call themselves Pin-Ups here in Italy Thanks for following it man. I have been looking for fellow bassheads in Vegas and I found a group the other day on FB it may be these guys but I will check. Thanks for the link
  14. She is going to have problems getting a good cheek weld and tough time getting the butt stock in the shoulder pocket....
  15. those are some serious door pods!
  16. Do you need to install the port?
  17. Doors look awesome. Model is one good looking gal too. Congrats.

I know I might get hammared for saying this but I will say it anyways, I am sure you didnt buy that sub for the looks of it, by buying that sub it tells exactly what you are wanting to acheive, so save or spend your money and buy an amp that would yield you maximum output from the sub, do it right, do it once, no regrets.

Your gonna get bad and good opinions on that amp or any amp in particular. I would find something in your budget that is dependable and can hold you over till you get what you want. Like Impious said 1500-2000 watts is fine, the amp turns usable power into heat rather than watts anyway. So unless competing its not worth it, try focusing on an efficient enclosure more than the amplifier. Just my .02
  22. Big chunk of these are reserved to go out to international accounts; so if you'd like to get in on the first run act as soon as you can
  23. Home with a sick baby today and got bored. I ordered my rear airbag kit.
  24. Seems like your english is a bit better than most people here on the forum anyway! Welcome.
  25. I'd try and pick up a raspberry Pi if you can find one.. it would take some time setting up but it would be a quick venture into a car pc while keeping your current head unit. I would do the Composite to the rear inputs then audio from the 3.5mm of the Pi to the headunit composite. you'd need a mini mouse/keyboard.. but it'd be pretty cool little setup. music, movies, youtube, internet via wifi, etc. Something like this, http://www.asiapads.com/product_info.php?products_id=2286&osCsid=b49d1065871ac30831aa7e569418a79b
  26. if you can find a used one for sale, get a sundown 1500d, I have 2 12" gcons as well and it works great.

And spend twice the amount of money for how much of an audible gain..... ? Little to none? Not to mention the sub is a D2 he'd have to run the strapped amps at 4ohm since not many are going to be stable at .5ohm/amp and it's simply unnecessary in a daily system to push the amps that hard, so there'd be no gain to a single amp at 1ohm or a strapped pair at 4ohm. Save your money. Get an amp in the 1500w-2kw range. Be happy.

Just because the sub is rated for 3kw doesn't mean you need to purchase a 3kw amplifier. What is your intended use for the system? If this is a daily driver you could easily save some $$ by going with a 1500w-2kw amp and not hear bit of a audible difference.
  29. UGH I misspelled "Torture" in the topic, wish I could fix it! Hello everyone. Over the weekend I did a review of techflex. For those of you who don't know techflex is an expandable sleeving that can be used to protect and group wiring. It comes in a variety of colors and sizes and can really help to clean up an install and make things look nice and clean. But does it protect the wire as well? Have a look at the video for the tests!

Used may be your best option. Hard to find that many watts for much less. Oh, you can try Pyramid, 10k watts for like 250.00.
  31. This was 4th order bandpass for two 12's. (4th order has to do with roll off, not a type of enclosure). Customer seemed to be happy
  32. Those are exactly the kind if "different" I'm looking for. And the K5 is in the running too. I was talking about one today with a buddy. How badass would it be to pull up in the lanes looking like a mini gravedigger. Lol.
  33. Meanwhile my other Toolmaker order showed up today. Solid terminals with Allen set screws, to replace the push type. Fits my 6g speaker wire. Also got some 4 into 2 speaker terminals for the amp side. Also fits my 6g wire. Shazzzzzzzzzam
  34. That box is an amazing install. Also, I wouldn't use a dmm or dd1 for tuning the gains.
