  1. OMG, same basket and big motor, must be an Evil copy, err I mean XSv2 copy, er I mean TC copy, man all these subs are exactly the same. Blah Blah bash bash bash ignorant post ignorant post....
  2. I've been waiting for someone to say something like this forever. Can you or someone please elaborate some more on all of this? What exactly are you wanting more detail? Clipping in itself does not destroy equipment, it is 92.7% of the time the user who does it. Not knowing when to turn it down. The reason for saying, getting a higher power amplifier amp to power his application, is because theoritically, that amp will be able to supple the rms rating of that driver without stress. For example, if you buy lets say, a 1200 watt amp. Well, that amp is only designed to produce 1200 watts at its given voltage. Well, obviously, many users cannot supply this voltage, and even so, can still cause problems when trying to obtain 1200 watts 24/7 from this amplifier. Well, lets say, you get a 4000 watt amplifier. Now you can see that this 4000 watt amp can easily provide the 1200 watts needed for that 1200 watt rms driver. This does several things simistanously. It provides "clean" 1200 watts, which leaves headroom and leaves the equipment cool. You can also apply more than rated power as well. 2000 non clipped clean power can be used on a 1200rms driver all day long. But if you get a 1200 watt amp attempting to supply 1200 watts, then you can see how you are causing stress to that hardware.

instead of trying to purchase everything at once, I would instead take my time. You have to realize, this hobby isn't a one stop shop. It takes many worked hours just to buy one piece of equipment, but takes only a few clicks to purchase something new. Keeping this in mind, I would buy things piece by piece. Keeping you're ears out there for any used equipment. This accomplishes many things. It allows your budget to be increased. Because obviously, the longer you wait to make any kind of purchase, your budget begins to grow, over time. This method also allows you to find golden jems that might surface at a later date. I would suggest starting off with a good headunit, as it is the brains of the operation. From there, you could work towards your mids/highs and the amp for those. While doing this, I would suggest buying and installing the backbone of your system. This would include things such as speaker wire, power wire, fuses, RCAs, etc. That way when you remove panels, you only have to do this once. Pre-run as much as possible. KnuKoncepts, Madisound.com, parts-express.com and darvex.com are great websites that can get you started. For that vehicle, I would suggest two 12s. And a good amp with at least 1-2 g31 batteries. Just take your time and go through build logs here on the forums to gather some ideas. And honestly, 2k$ is not a lot to work with, not for anything decent, you are going to want more and more cost money lol. Just being honest man. Good luck and let us know how it goes!
  4. i tell you why people buy his products. ADVERTISING. It doesn't matter how terrible the product is, if you can advertise enough and social engineer people into believing they need it, then it will sell.
  5. List updated. Thank you for everyone who has donated so far! The raffle is going great so far but I know it can do better. I would appreciate if everyone would share this through social media, email, or just word of mouth.
  6. Buy some tickets for a great cause. Plus you could win some great prizes!

1 cube sealed is what is recommended for a 12. Not a 10, thats why i said buy 12's. Dont buy new boxes, if its truely 1cu net then cut the hole out bigger. Your not going to get "low" with small sealed boxes in a Convertible! Your showing up to the drag strip with a red Yugo with bald tires, wondering why your not fast asking if the Blue yugo will be faster. Buy 12's, use same boxes....
  8. I would definitely use some sort of bracing, no matter the orientation. Some 1.5" dowel rods or 2x2's will do great for bracing and not use up enough internal space to affect tuning any noticeable amount. For example, three 2x2 braces, two at 21 inches long to brace top to bottom, one at 19.75 to brace front to back on one side of the sub only take up .142cuft of internal space. Dowel rods would be a little less than that. With 7cuft of space that .142 just won't make any noticeable difference.

I agree. There's just not going to be a real noticeable difference in output just changing the subs out, period. Without changing something else you're just going to piss money away. Do not opt for the Skar and there's so many reasons why you shouldn't, just do a quick search. If you're dead set on blowing some cash on new subs the Sundown E10's wouldn't be a bad way to spend it, nor would a pair of DCON 10's. It will be a waste of money though as we've tried to tell you "YOU'RE NOT GOING TO HEAR ANY REAL DIFFERENCE!" If you don't believe us, model the subs in WinISD all in the same 1.2cuft enclosures with the same power applied and you'll see our point.
  10. Sounds like the US telling Ireland about the virtues of Prohibition I am getting tired of the debate. And it has changed my thinking. I used to think more background checks and other similar options were a good idea and now I even feel that is stupid. We have laws that we just don't enforce. Jon Stewart did a pretty good job showing the level of incompetence of the BATFE a few weeks back: http://www.thedailyshow.com/full-episodes/wed-january-16-2013-jessica-chastain
  11. As Duran said "The spaced spider aids in mechanical linearity of the voice coil"
  12. Finally got this thread to load again, lol. Yeah I'd be glad to help you out. Post up the max dims you can work with and other information like the orientation you prefer (sub up, port back, etc), double baffle yes/no, things of that sort and we'll get after it. You're going to love the XCON's, I'm sure of it. I've not had a chance to listen to mine yet, but I've yet to hear a bad word about them. Aaron, In the words of my 15 month old son "TA DA!!!"
  13. A new one for "Todays" list.

I didnt say to go with the mezzo comps. Id go withwhatever the op thinks sounds best. Other than the comps and speaker amp i think the list looks good
  15. 1 point
so we have 2 xcons with 2000 watts on tap, but an inefficient pair of comps playing 99% of the frequency range...and you call that "good"?
  16. Thanks sean. Im gonna check that and see what mines doing.. Took some vids today with julian hopefully he'll post it soon.. Finally got to hears julians system. Def much louder than his old setup... Mine and his are really close though.. Cant wait to meter.. Sean let me borrow one! Lol
  17. http://www.caraudio.com/forums/thunderdome-forum-members-only/427504-%2475-flat-fee-sealed-enclosures-7.html If you go back a couple pages, the guy gives a description of the enclosure....one of the port walls wasn't even screwed in, etc. Think that *might* have been the thread where he got busted posting other people's work claiming it as his own, don't remember now & it's too long to read. If not, then it's elsewhere. Or if you're feeling frisky simply google Lambo911, Subtilis Audio, etc. It's not like he had done one or two things wrong....there are issues spread over many years of times he's fucked up and been caught in lies. As a matter of fact the Lambo911 username was banned from this very site, for reasons I don't know as they occurred before I was really active here. And Mark and Aaron typically only ban spammers or someone who has seriously fucked up, this site isn't ran like many others where users are banned for petty issues. SSA hold bans as a pretty serious infraction and use it as a means of last resort. I've been really active here since '09 and don't think I've seen more than maybe one or two users banned (other than spammers). Most forums ban atleast that many users per day. As I said before, just because he's a POS doesn't mean his business isn't successful. Look at eD, they were blasted for years for many of their antics and bullshit they pulled.....and succeeded just fine, up until recently which was completely unrelated to their terrible history.
  18. Dude is a trooper. 5 hours post surgery he wanted to drive around in a little fled flinstone plasic car
  19. your questions are about YOUR personal preference... no one can tell you if they will make YOu happy.
  20. There are more morons in the world than smart people. Go read some of the advice he has given on enclosures for ANY of his drivers. Notice how NO MATTER the constraints the OP has, he recommends that it'll sound great and work well. Then model one of his POS's, build it to confirm the model, and shit realizing how piss poor it is. Luckily for him piss poor is acceptable to an awful lot of people. He is ONLY interested in one thing and it is his wallet. If that means he hurts someone or steps on them along the way he's proven that he will gladly do it over and over again. In my book that is an asshat if there ever was one. If you truly had spent ANY time researching this you'd realize how misplaced your comments on defending him or his products are. Once you realize this and follow my recommendations on how to figure it out yourself you will also realize how absolutely lost most people are on other forums that make recommendations. There is a reason that he and his stuff is liked somewhere, but regrettably it isn't for any of the right reasons.
  21. Yes, it is an 11 1/8" cutout. Which will make it a tad tight, then just sand to trim it down to fit nice and tight.
  22. It's not a rat rod if it has A/C. Hope your buddy enjoys that A/C panel. It's a b!tch to make. Carry on.
  23. Here is a little update, I was tired of having no dome light so I ordered a 39" segment of LED's from www.superbrightleds.com I put a strip on the glass beaming down and with the extra strips I put them under the foot wells for a bit of accent lighting.

anyone want to see this 2250wRMS monster?
  25. I was laughing too. it was especially funny watching jack try to keep one paw off the snow at all times. Poor guy. It's downright silly watching a 180 pound pup prance around looking all pathetic, but still trying to have fun in the snow. Give him time he will come around. Our mastif loves rolling in the snow and then running back in the house and shaking. .... I better finish my cabinets!
  26. this is our version of the thread.... only rules.. no racism or discrimination will be allowed of any kind... u aren't allowed to like ricers or be prepared to be made fun of... and anything else goes... so wh0re it up, cuz it's allowed!! welcome to the IHoP..the International House of Poo where everything is on the menu...u just can't have it... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
