You can't fry any sub with any amount of power. Please be a little more objective when making blanket statements like that. If the sub is rated at a thermal limit of 3000 watts, a 1500 watt amplifier could potentially damage it... A 3000 watt amplifier could very easily damage it, in any box, without audible distortion.

The entire though process behind this is stupid. People are using these tools to set gains without distortion. It's doesn't matter even if Wiily Wonka and Dr. Emmett Brown got together and used Sean's 250k scope and triple checked it with the vibrio meter to match the gain to the amps .5 THD rating. Evening if the source voltage or content never changed. Speakers are rated at 10% distortion and subs are rated at 20%. Distortion. BC YOU CAN NOT HEAR THE DISTORTION until this point. So why in the hell are people worried about setting gains for no distortion or 1, 2, 5%. It makes no difference.

Lol, OK. Just remember that you can thermally fry those subs with much less than that much amplifier in ANY enclosure...

That is a lot of power, be careful or you will smoke them in no time... FI's site has plenty of box ideas...

Figure out why you blew your sub before buying a new one.

A friend has some subs that suffered a poor recone job by their previous owner. There are gaps (air leaks) around the surround that I want to seal. It looks easy enough to do from the back, just peeling back the surround and dropping a bead of glue in. The question is what kind of glue do I use, and possibly more important, where can I find it? The only glues I actually have already are CA-based "super glue", various "goop" products, and 2-part epoxy glues. I want to buy the right glue for the job however if there's something better I can use. I also need to glue the dustcover, which is peeling off.

6k for 2 of them isn't a lot of power... in the right enclosure
