  1. I'm comparing OFC 5000+ strand count to CCA 5000+ strand count. Why? 1/0 Excelene is $2 a foot. There is your benchmark for price/performance. If you insist on 5000 strand OFC "Car Audio" wire you are just buying in to hype and paying for looks...
  2. No, don't quit talking, ever. Just don't help perpetuate this myth. Car audio is full of this crap. This site is supposed to help people. When certain things are said (in error) all they do is keep the dumb people dumber. I have no doubt you understand this thread, just be careful with what you say as you will confuse the crap out of others.
  3. I think a free SMD DD-1 is in order for mr Bassaholic and the million post milestone.
  4. 1,000,000!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. A little cleaning for the show tomorrow.
  6. And don't quit. Fuck your boss. Be a champ and leave in style.
  7. We have been in talks with them for a while, finally were able to get things worked out.
  8. Yes nice progress!
  9. love the progress, looks awesome man, always happy to see someone enjoying their projects. Liking the stained wood as well. Definitely different from the normal grey carpet. And as for using the pre-existing holes for the wiring, it's fine, you've kept them neat and tidy, and ziptied together. Nothing wrong with that.
  10. Haven't really had time to do anything but this did arrive today way sooner than I was expecting it. Hopefully it's the kick in the ass I needed to get working on the build again.
  11. Crescendo amps are great but you won't hear a difference in output. Not really sure how much power those amps put out but adding power is the worse way to get louder (for daily) unless your at least doubling it. But then your still not guaranteed to gain output if any and you spend a shit ton on electrical upgrades. If you want to get louder try and mess with your box! Build a new one with different port placements, tuning, and size.
  12. This sites info never gets old http://www.bcae1.com/
  13. I'm sorry. I will quit talking now
  14. I have their 1 gauge ofc cable and it is some if the thickest wire you can getAgain, this is what you guys are completely missing in this thread. The "thickness" of stranded power wire has nothing to do with the overall AWG. The "thickness" is determined primarily from physical construction and strand count. And when you are talking DC current, these do NOT affect performance... At all... Saying one wire is thicker than another makes about as much sense as comparing the jacket color...
  15. God dammit again.. This chart i had.. i have been mis-interpreting it.. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! After doing some research.. YES! CCA's conductivity % to pure copper is almost the same % as pure aluminum which Gauge for Gauge is pathetic unless you are getting it for EXTREMELY EXTREMELY CHEAP. Well.. looks like i won't be using any of this left over CCA then, hehe. I need 200ft of 4/0.. looks like copper it is.. Dual 4/0 runs everywhere.
  16. 2X 1/0 = 107 mm^2 1X 4/0 = 107 mm^2 If you compare the 2 runs of CCA to the single run of Copper (the same cross sectional area) the Copper will absolutely destroy the CCA by a HUGE margin....
  17. this topic has been covered many many times... save up and buy ofc and end this thread
  18. 1/0 aluminum is the exact same size as 1/0 copper, unless one manufacturer is lying. AWG doesn't change based on conductor material. AWG is not based on current carrying capability, it is based on cross sectional area of the conductor. This doesn't change when a different material is used. CCA is aluminum and is garbage. It is a marketing gimmick. Copper cladding on the aluminum is used for looks as there is no skin effect with DC to make the cladding worth anything.
  19. Finally got the power this new front stage deserves!
  20. Looks like our new projects will parallel each other Rick...Will be trading in my gcon for ricks xcons and redoing my front stage to run active. Finally got some real pics and ditched the cardboard drivers
  21. Here are a few pics to give you guys an idea. Keep in mind that this is not finished by any stretch of the imagination, and the car won't be driven until I get it completed. The final install will be with the enclosure facing into the cabin sealed off from the trunk, the battery will be mounted were it currently sits (to the left of the enclosure). I have to check on a few Meca rules before I permanently mount the amps and battery as I need to make sure it is allowed in my class. I will also be cleaning up the wiring, repainting the port, and carpeting the trunk/trunk lid. It is a work in progress.
  22. I am just curious I have been digging and come up with nothing. I know its not really good to underpower subs..... lets say on the highs and mids the amps tuned according to desired but the powers not there....... bad?
  23. Dude, stop being a moron. Using military boards and being .5ohm stable was a marketing decision. Unrelated to final price. Neo magnets add NO VALUE to a subwoofer. Sure some cost, but it doesn't make anything worth anything. If you want education on why it is a great woofer, fine, but relating it to what they set as their selling price is fucking moronic.
  24. Sir, I do not bad mouth ANY product or anybody on this forum. And I do respect what you post. So can you please do me (and my car build) a favor, show me the same respect and not bad mouth any products or anybody on my build log ??? Thank you in advance ... Like I said, I have no idea what the final numbers will be until everything is measured out, built, tested and tuned ... at this point in time, I have ALOT more things that need to be done before this is even an issue !!! A spade is a spade. If you are fully absorbed into believing something not based solely on fact there is a level of BS. Of course you took it out of context, even in your quote . Please re-read, it wasn't a bad mouth at all about a product but a request that you attempt to think for yourself and understand something once instead of blindly following. It is a really good skill in life to have.
  25. At least you found the hole.
