  1. Well, I got a promotion. :-)
  2. Awesome. Pics? I was lazy this year and didn't bring the helmet cam or anything, but I did take one gag shot for my hunting uncles: On one of the trails we came up on a herd of elk, looked like the lines of children exiting schools during fire drills. Must have been at least forty of them.
  3. Hello! For those of you who don't know me my name is Mark and I am the man behind "Car Audio Fabrication" on YouTube. I have posted build threads before (like this one: http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/topic/57168-video-build-log-fi-bl-rockford-fosgate-focal-knukonceptz-tip/ ) and if you have ever seen one you know that I love to mix in "How To" Videos throughout the build that describe the process and show each step. This build will be no different! well, it will a little bit because I am going to try to mix in a lot more pictures for your viewing pleasure! I love to help other car audio enthusiasts young and old, newb and veteran, so if you see something you have a question about ASK! The Vehicle: Chevy Duramax 2500 HD Extended Cab (Will add pics soon) The Gear: Alpine Type R's 6.5" Component Speakers 10" JL Audio W3 Knukonceptz wiring Wirecare.com wire protection products Alpine MRP-M500 Alpine MRP-F300 The Install: Custom Fiberglass Door Pods with Vinyl Wrapped Inserts to accent interior and match sub enclosure Custom Fiberglass Subwoofer Enclosure (Specs to Follow) The Goal: Quality sound that integrates well with the vehicle and requires little to know permanent vehicle modification. (No cutting of panels allowed!) My Goal: Teach the readers of this thread as much about the fabrication of the pods and sub enclosure, as well as the install as I can. Let's begin! We started with collecting some of the gear, the ownder of the vehicle wanted to re-use his Alpine Component Speakers and JL Subwoofer, I talked him into purchasing a MRP-F300 which is the exact same foot print as the MRP-M500 and will allow for a really clean install. The components: The sub: The amplifier: (Still need pics of the 4 channel) I then determined what was needed wiring wise and put in an order with my friends over at Knukonceptz.com: I am very excited to use their new product the KNF-60, we were one of the first to get a production unit and I was really impressed with using it in a different build so I decided to get one for this one as well: All of the wiring in this build will be protected by Techflex which I recieved from our show sponsor WireCare.com . They really have some great products and the "snake" style techflex will look awesome with the tan and black truck. Its crazy how many colors of this stuff there is! Now the EXCITING stuff! I made these outer insert templates with a series of router techniques and skills, I discuss them in the video. The idea is they will insert into the pod and can be wrapped with a different material or painted to accent the install. Here you can see I will mount the woofer from the rear, and the tweeter is flush mounted: Finally I added some low temp plastic around the base template so that the top insert could lay flush. I show how I do this in the video as well. Well thats all for now, let me know what you think! Add this thread to your book marks and check back often!
  4. Also, I'm glad you are using super loud alarms. It might help. However, can you stop talking down to me? I don't know at what point you decided it was cool to speak to people that way, but it's really really rude. When you made a reference to someone as a suspect it makes you sound like a wanna be cop. At some point you decided to talk to me in a really shitty way andit is really annoying. My information comes from statistical figures from the biggest property(home business boat car etc) companies that pool their information and the data collected from interviewed thrives. I'm not posting my opinion and information to bulk up my e-penis. Theft is a big deal, especially to this forum, and misinformation is way too common.
  5. We have them from time to time on the SSA store. Here might be a good place to chcek: http://store.soundsolutionsaudio.com/coupon-codes/
  6. New cast frame with under-spider venting, revised motor ventilation -- thus higher power handling. Also come with grilles... and we moved them to a new build-house as well for tighter QC standards. All at the same price
  7. I have a gcon 12 sealed on 500 watts. Absolutely love it. Best sealed 12 I have owned in a long time.
  8. That is due to more people running ported and less running sealed. Not that one is better than the other, technically the Gcon is a little more of a sealed box sub. In this case, it is a win win for the OP, be it Gcon sealed or HighQts SSD sealed.
  9. Literally made me laugh. Does it ever happen when it warns twice because multiple people just walk by your car in the parking lot? Does it get annoying? I thought about it, but decided it might irritate me too much, or have me paranoid when I didn't need to be. you can set the sensitivity and also how wide it detects you really have to get it dialed in so that it does not go off too easily .... it makes you jumpy at first but after a while you kinda learn it, and alot of times if it warns once i wont look but if it warns twice i will... and it hardly ever goes off from 3 warns, ... i also have dual shock sensors so. but the thing i like the most.. i have my dialed in to warn when you walk CLOSE.. but if you cup your hards on my window to look inside it will go off right away ... i have used this system on my last 3 cars. for the last 9 years... and i have never been broken into..
  10. Here is step #4, forming the surface of the door pod. In this video I test out Steve's Sunflash resin.

Beast trunk car. I love this thing! Does a 52 out of the trunk but sounds like a 55 or better.

2 12's ? Man i already feel myself beginning deaf after a 30 second blast with my 15" be careful man!Lol! These subs are really astounding especially at their price range. Highly recommended to anyone who wants to exceed w7 performance for a better buck. Great sub, but let's chill out with saying it's better than a w7.

  14. Box is about as big as I can go with it and still get it in there. I thought it may have been the remaining trunk space after the box was in there was my problem. When the box is in its a tight fit all around. Passage space for air to travel to the front of the car is very little. I threw a single 12 enclosure in there and had the same problem.this is not always the case. my ethos in the same size box 3 feet tuned to 32 for the 15 has a flat response with a F3 of ~28. In the same size box tuned to 36 it gets ~3db gain from 30-50 with an f3 of ~29. going with a larger box with same tuning only results in a bigger peak at tuning frequency, not any more lower extension.

Congrats today on your WINS Jon
  16. Letting it break in won't make it anymore abuse tolerant.
  17. Got to do some more work on this build: In this post I will teach you how to reverse mount speakers and also how to use threaded inserts: I found the threaded inserts at my local hardware store, I have also seen them at Home Depot, Lowes, and Menards. I really like them as you don't have to be concerned with stripping out the wood if you have to remove the screws to remove the speaker and put it back in. They are very easy to use as I will outline in the video at the bottom of the post: Here is a picture of what they look like once mounted fully, I chose to use a washer as well to have more of a surface for the screw to hold against. With the reverse mounting I found this configuration to be very appealing to the eye. I really like how you cant see any of the mounting holes, just the outer most part of the surround. In the video below I outline how to install the threaded inserts, as well as how to reverse mount a speaker. Enjoy!
  18. Pics need to have username and date on a piece of paper too brother. Also any trades? J
  19. Gotta post pics
  20. NSFW did someone say sit on a plunger and put a curling iron in you ass?? cause thats what she heard http://s1310.photobucket.com/user/ravennicolecunningham/media/VID_20130608_120524_zpsde858cf1.mp4.html NSFW
  21. That's horrible! You didn't go ham on it right off the bat did you? Yep full tilt like did all my other subs. Never had a problem before.I personally would not go balls out until at least a couple hours play time to loosen the suspension a bit. Out of curiosity though where was the failure at?
