  1. Hey guys, I made a video recently, and posted it on Kavinsky facebook page, next thing you know, people started commenting letting me know it got tweeted by the man himslelf! WOOT WOOT. If you don't know who he is, he creates house music and is similar to Datf Punk and Danger. Tell me what you guys think. https://twitter.com/iamKAVINSKY
  2. That will be more dependent on the box not the sub or the size of the sub. Why do you keep making all of these threads?

The Civic did 142.9 dB, twice within 5 minutes. All is well, also got the tuning right. After that we cut another speaker hole and went with a normal alignment. No more bottoming out, all that the Steg 800w @ 4 ohms amp could do, the little buggers took it and put up 142.8 dB. It's 0.1 less than the isobaric alignment, with more power. If they survive thermally they are going to be ok, I have a feeling that bumping the tuning higher will get us over 143.0 in the Civic. Next step is bracing, then doubling up the bottom of the box and the baffle. Bracing is not appealing, I've had mixed results but who knows what's going to happen considering the box is made out of particle board.
  4. This particular vehicle will be driven on weekends. Doesn't mean I want any less quality sound though. I think this thread has ran it's course. Should have named it differently. I'm thinking I need to take a different approach to learning an active setup. Probably should settle on a decent looking double din for this vehicle and put my attention to install of this focal set in my doors. These speakers sounded amazing to me in the shops sound board. Thanks for everyone's advice and pointing me towards a active capable head unit. When time and most importantly budget allows ill tackle it!
  5. It is physically impossible. Plywood is a laminant. The center ply could have a void the size of a dinner plate and you would never know until you cut it into.
  6. I also use NO headunit. Just passive volume pots for each channel. The only source is my tablet connected to a 500gb hard drive.
  7. I have 2 2x4's in my boat
  8. Every time I see your videos I keep wanting to upgrade my front stage lol. Sounds good!

    Looking good!
  10. Go on parts express and look at the clearance stuff
  11. Used to be vvme off of ebay but then a bunch of people bought em and they jacked up prices
  12. I am no way a SPL guy I have ZERO experience competing so I will be looking for seasoned competitors to do testing to see if it is a viable option. To give a few comparisons as far as motor strength the two big neo's out there, the DDZ has a BL of ~35 and the IA warden is a bit stronger. The typical sensitivity on a average sub is in the upper 80's DB at 1 watt 1 meter. The Magnetar with SPL coil with 10 hard spiders would have a sensitivity of ~102. Couple that with the massive amount of power it could handle it could have the ability to get pretty loud in knowledgeable hands.
  13. I'm warmed up... Jelly.Sean is pounding black bush and I'm starting with some absinthe. Does it really taste like anise Matt? American Absinthe does. The real stuff is so strong (over 180 proof) that it does have a hint of anise, but it is washed out by the high alcohol content...
  14. Not a good pic but all I have at the moment. 270mm OD with two 1 inch thick magnets. Two 1 inch thick top plates.
  15. You said you were in MI, I told you where your IP states your from. If that's a problem for you, I don't know what to tell you. If you want to lie, that's fine, but don't get your pussy hurt when you get called on it.

  18. I never post gun pictures, but this is one that I could not resist!
  19. for 500w why wouldnt you just get a 4 channel like the sax100.4 and run a front stage and small subwoofer in back?

Finalized the wheel decision. Wanted forged wheels but can't justify the 3k price tag for just wheels. So I bought these. 09 Corvette ZR1 19s rear, 18s front

Just received one of Rick's xcons (formerly rick's:) The man is a stand up guy, sold me a great product at a fair price, and really went the extra mile to help me out, from extra packing to help tracking down the other sub when only one showed up today (not at all ricks fault. somehow they managed to ship one to california and one to salt lake) Got one today, the other is en route, should be here saturday. Rick has been great to work with every step of the way, can't give enough positive feedback about the experience.
