Nic Watts 4 Sundown ZV4 12s on 20k
3 pointsvery close. only reason i switched was the lightweight rules changed cause this truck with these subs was untouchable for more than a full season and people were crying and making excuses why. well long story short they made a new class to put me in . which is now welterweight. the welterweight cone area is lower 4 12s was my closest match. at the time i was layed off from my job and could not spare extra cash to switch. and had to switch or forfit my place. a close friend and team mate gave me 4 zv3 12s at a untouchable price. and later zv4 came out and pretty much direct swap. at first 12s were louder but found later only on a burp. avrge was acually .4 lower and more rule changes even lower. v4 12 and zcon 15 are almost exact same results in same box zcon slightly higher over all . slightly. i would run zcon again in a min. matter fact i still have one in my other truck. ssa was a awsome company still is.3 points

Zcon or Evil?
2 pointsI've used both, and imo, the evil is more of an Low end monster whereas the evil will exceed in the upper freq range. Obviously most of this is driven by enclosure design and many other things. The evil sound surrounds you whereas the zcon will punch you in the face.2 points

Frequency Drop @ 53HZ...Why?
2 pointsThree things to check. First verify your tuning is accurate by using your tone generator again and watch to see at what frequency the sub moves the absolute least amount. That will be your tuning frequency and in most cases should be relatively close but just be sure. Have you tried moving the sub around yet? Generally gaps like that in the frequency response are due to acoustic anomalies that cause cancellations and such. The last thing to check is all the settings on your HU and amp to make sure you don't have a low pass filter that's turned down in that neighborhood somewhere. Checking and verifying the tuning of the enclosure can help ensure there's nothing goofy with the frequency response from being tuned abnormally low or something. Very uncommon issue, but it could happen. In all likelihood the issue is an acoustic one. You'd be floored by how a few inches or a few degrees of rotation can affect the response of any speaker or sub in a car. They're a horrible environment from an acoustics standpoint. I'm sure you've checked your settings, but hey, shit happens sometimes. There's been plenty of threads over the years where someone has had an issue like this, fought it for a week or two and then discovered something they thought they had previously checked but missed. Verify all that stuff and lets see what you have after that. I'm sure others will have other ideas as well, those are just the first few places I would check. Another possibility is that the sub simply doesn't respond well into that range, but I would tend to doubt that train of thought for several reasons.2 points

1969 Camaro
1 pointMom got her a '69 camaro the other week as a toy/project Just a base model 307, holley carb, edelbrock aluminum intake, all new exhaust minus the manifolds, 10 bolt rear end, muncie 4 speed. Plans are to do a LS swap, disc conversion, possibly a/c and restore it little by little.1 point

Remove passive crossover and use adjustable one?
Yes you can, because your amplifier has bandpass crossovers. You can use the crossovers on the amplifier instead of the passive crossovers given.1 point

1 pointTrying to do a 150 daily. on 2 18 Zcons. Mark was doing 149's on music with a pair of Xcon's in a tiny box with way too much port in the Santa Fe (which is not the best vehicle to get loud) and he needed more batteries. So a pair of Zcon's should be good.1 point- Welcome to the IHoP v.2

1 pointHe has been IP banned multiple times. The issue is, you unplug your modem, renew your IP address and you're free to register again under a new name. The IP ban is only handy for bots or idiots who don't know any better. Unfortunately, for you, this guy has a hard on for you. Your only recourse is to ignore him and be the bigger man.1 point- Walling a vehicle 101 - any suggestions?
If you've never had a car having one with suspect suspension, brakes, acceleration, visibility and a rompin' fuckin' stereo isn't really the best idea. Adding at least visibility to the list is a minimum although I'd prefer to see all of the above improved.1 point- Walling a vehicle 101 - any suggestions?
Dangerous? As in, higher chance of rolling the truck on a turn? lots of extra weight in the vehicle, no use of rear view mirror, and you're not an experienced driver so the potential of shit going wrong is pretty high (no offense).1 point- Welcome to the IHoP v.2

Not so much of a Pre-Order as the order has already gone in to have them made. More like but it now before they all sell out.1 point- 4th order sp4
1 pointYou understand crossover slopes so then apply it to a box. Let me help clarify one other thing. What you call ported is actually a 4th order vented enclosure, what you are calling 4th order is actually a 4th order bandpass enclosure. A bandpass in nature will have rolloffs on BOTH the high frequencies and low frequencies, ie it only allows frequencies in the passband to play. There are some applications for 4th BP boxes, but they are few and far between and you have shown us NOTHING that makes them logical for your choice. Yes you can steer the width of the BP in the enclosure via design as you can watch the skarbage FL guys attempting to do, but this yields a "one note wonder" that in reality only buys you a shitty sounding enclosure. Of course you can steer the enclosure the other way as well, but good luck getting it right on even the third iteration. And even when right the standard 4th order ported enclosure will most likely give you a better response and fit your needs better.1 point- 94' S10 blow-through single sundown ZV3
