In my worthless opinion, if you're driving a sub to the limits of it's XMAX so hard and so often that you're able to get the leads to make noise on the cone then you probably really need to be using a different driver. Either that or the enclosure design isn't right for the application either. Whichever it may be the driver can't be faulted for the noise or the imminent premature failure that will occur because it was being abused. I call it abuse because if a person is driving a sub that hard that much it's probably not getting loud enough for them. If that's the case then wouldn't something else be in order, not the continued abuse of that driver(s)? At least that's how I see it.

There is no lead slap issue if used properly. If over driving the sub and it unloads, there is a chance for lead slap. So essentially use it as you're supposed to, it's not an SPL competition sub. Would love to see this review.
  4. Met up with Sencheezy this past weekend for a chat and a few demos ... Guys, Sencheezy is a real "down to Earth" kind of guy !!! It was really cool to meet up with you Sir and get a demo of your ride !!! Sorry about missing your "ride the light" run, but I got called back to the LP demo booth. I will be sure to catch it on the next run ... hopefully we will be competing together at SBN Daytona !!! my under / hub glows got tore up during the accident on the way to finals (blew a trailer tire in the rain and almost flipped the vehicles) ... As for the SSA Evil driver ... Very impressive !!! Gets very loud and does supsrisingly good playing music too !!! Seemed really strong in the 45 - 70 htz range when cranked up ... and during music, fairly accurate in the 30 to 45 htz range too !!! not bad at all. Wish I had more time with the demo and tuning ... I can honnestly say that if I ever get the chance to build a system with a larger than a 10" driver application, I will definately go to Mark and Aaron for a SSA Evil Driver !!! maybe 2 or 4 ... who knows with my wild imagination !!! Thank you Sencheezy !!!
  5. Its the fact that people give negatives based on opinion of the poster not on the content of the post. As said previously ratings should have a reason that you can attach to the rating that people can look at.
  6. Since I am still awaiting the arrival of something I have been waiting on a good while now..... the Evil will stay in the house for now, while an Icon 18 was added in for part of the daily driver rotation. I quick weekend up at Neal's and tada, nice and solid sealed box that barely fits.
  7. Agreed, ask 180 and take 140.
  8. Sounds good to me. Could probley even start higher

The leads on the gcon's never were woven in the spider and to prevent slap there is a felt pad placed on the cone to absorb the noise. I am not aware of any issues, but I only played with two gcons.
  10. u get a bday. i get a bday we all get a bday

The Xcon is an sq sub but gets very loud. I had 1 12 on only 1k rms and it was crazy loud. Sounds amazing too!! I said many times before on here; the one 12 was shocking people by the output of just one 12.
  12. the amps them selfs are fine... only because Kevin has NOTHING to do with how they are made..... they are regular run of the mill Koran amps..... the only think that makes them a skar amp is the slightly different heat sink case and the skar sticker.... the problem IMO is giving money to a moron. a proven lair, scamer and douche bag its litterly like this...... say there is a local ford dealership that is owed by a real piece of shit...someone that is known for doing shady shit and being less then honest....... the focus your looking at is still a fine car... only because that asshole has 0 to do with the manufacturing and or designing of the car its self.... but at the end of the day you would still being gambling by purchasing said car from THAT caliber of man.. because when and if you ever have issues.. it would truly be sketchy trying to get any help/satisfaction in getting the issues solved. somthing that honestly makes a company like sundown stand above and beyond a company like skar... a man like me is willing to pay a little more because jacob has proven him self over and over to be a MAN of action... his customer servise alone is worth the extra money.... any issues you feel confidant it will be taken care of.... if you look at the topics in the skar sections kevin can not.. and will not respond to any issues. or questions about the products he sells.. look at the sundown section and every single topic has a response and a honest answer another analogy.. ever been shopping for a used car... and the sales man is clueless about the car he is trying to sell you ? is stumbling over his words trying to tell you about a car he knows nothing about.. telling you simple things like.." yeah its automatic, its blue" and every question you ask he can not answer? i leave.. you cant sell me something you haven't a clue about... thats skar. my point is... their are plenty of company's selling almost the same amp.. for almost the same price, and you can feel better about your purchase ... kinda like spending a few more buck for a diamond that you know is not a blood diamond yeah.
  13. Did you say Funky pup!?!? Maybe this will clear things up for the funky pup. 1 watt to a funky pup is like 10000000 watts to a DD Z. These are Chuck Norris’s choice, not for bass, but to replace the engines in all his WalkerTexasRangerMobile’s… 1 funky pup = 500 horses, 2 funky pups = 1500 horses, 3 funky pups = time travel. There was never an atomic bomb, there was 4 funky pups in a .25″ particle board sealed box. They stopped making funky pups because the warehouse they were stored was quickly shifting the earth’s magnetic field. As a result, most of the world’s funky pups are now stored in a secret underground warehouse below Santa Claus’s Elf sweatshop. Its not certain what exactly makes the funky pup’s so much better than everything that ever existed, but it is absolutely certain – THESE ARE THE BEST W00FERS EVER MADE BY MAN OR SPACE MONKEY!
  14. Both suck. Funky pup is where it's at.
  15. Graphs! i should learn how to interpret these some day.
  16. you sound bored, build a new box, .. a better design and tune lower. it will be like a whole new stereo
  17. watts are watts, its the owner that people have the beef with.Cool with me brother ... Like I said, it was just an observation.Ah, so they did as well as LP. What a surprise. Oh that's right, watts are watts. Personally I won't pad an asshat's pocket nor will I support a company that charges a ridiculous premium for no reason. Too smart for either.
  18. I doubt the amps are any better or worse than any other internet based, Asian build house rebadger. Order minumum quantity of a product, choose your heat sink and they slap your sticker on top and ship it across the ocean to you. But the owner has proven time and time again with his actions that his business is not one that should be supported.
  19. This forum isn't a no-work-required box calculator. You must post your goals with this system for anyone to make a recommendation. What kind of music do you listen to, are you looking for loud as possible or quality sound etc
