Not for ellipses, but for typing incoherently. Go read the post.
  5. Holy Crap!!! Amazing deals on the SSA Subs! I just bought a use xcon for what a new one is on this sale! Great pricing Aaron/Mark!
  6. 6mH isn't high at all.. The problem with inductance is that it goes up with more layers you add..these wonderfully 'educated' people keep adding more and more layers to a coil which does nothing but make it an inductance tank, making people think the speaker is a "low end monster" when in all reality it's nothing but a tank that has no upper end and rolls off at 55Hz. We don't do that..we use a larger diameter wire and less layers which combats the higher inductance. I can't give you an impedance curve..as that's going to change with your application, the same thing with the inductance curve. (You do understand that all of those wonderful graphs are taken with a very very small signal right?) It's far better to have no inductance rings at all than it is to have random bits of copper or aluminum strewn about in places where they shouldn't be. The whole point of inductance is to linearize it, if it is linear it will sound better. If it has a spot that it gets to in the motor where it's way lower it now shifts and creates more distortion than it would have without the inductance rings in place. It's a subwoofer, it will play up to 80Hz fine which is what it is intended to do. They've been used in applications such as the 'electric daisy carnival' and 'burning man festival' which all focuses on very bass heavy electronic music.
  7. Or go to the spammer's profile and from the "Warn member" page you can ban them

  9. I raped, I mean flagged a ton as well. I would do more than just a flag if there were an option. Top right of the forum window is the Admin CP. Open it in a new window or new tab. Search the member name and on the top of that screen you will see "Ban Options". Click that tab, check all the boxes (be sure to move the user to the ban list) and click save.
  10. Halo's are one of the best e-cigs that actually function like cigarettes. I love the mini tanks too, you can't survive without em.
  11. I love my ICON. Takes a minute to get used to having this kind of bass in your car and the best way I can describe it is warm, full, and surrounding.
  12. hahaha. I thought this was the S/D thread at first...and was wondering why Aaron changes his answer.... I have only had the xcon, and a old style IA DR. and for what it is worth, I just bought another Xcon to put back in my truck.

With my experience with the icon, my enclosure was 4.5 tuned to 32hz, my amplifier for that setup was an AQ1200, and it never felt stressed from that power, like I said, I think a 2k amp would be perfect, because you don't have to set the gain high, plus you will have headroom and will be easier on the electrical.I can agree with this.I'm at .5 ohms now,if I go full tilt its pretty hard on my electrical.but I don't do that very often.demo only.but it will start to cut in an out. This is not good at all. You might want to invest in your electrical instead of more equipment, and check your ground connection. This means your voltage is dropping down into the 11 volts range.
  15. I had an SSA Icon 12 in my car for about a year on 1200w RMS. The sub was in a 2.5ft^3 box tuned to 33 hz and it was definitely the most musical sub i have ever listened while dropping an insane amount on lows. I sold the sub a few months ago, ordered an Xcon 15, and built a 5ft^3 box tuned to 33hz again. The sub arrived yesterday packaged inside a crate that was inside a box lol. This thing must not have moved an INCH. The suspension on this sub is STIFF. Most definitely the stiffest suspension I have felt. Anyways, after hooking it up to my MB Quart Onx2000.1, I can say this thing is...well for lack of a better word...a MONSTER. The move up in cone area and power defintely made a huge difference in the amount bass. The xcon seems to the play the higher bass notes with more authority as well. Overall, this is one kick-ass sub and I cant wait for the suspension to loosen up and spend more time playing it. SSA has never let me down.
  16. An alternator outputs current based on demand to maintain adequate system voltage. This is why your lights might dim when you suddenly increase current demand (turn AC on full blast, etc)...there is a bit of a lag between when the current is demanded and when the alternator can supply the additional current. Besides starting the car, this is what the battery is for...to supply the additional current needed during these sudden increases before the alt picks up the slack.Think about it logically....if there was only 100A of demand but the alt was producing 250A....where would the additional 150A of current "go"? Think of it this way.....current isn't just produced, it is drawn by the load. There has to be a demand for the current, which is based on the load and voltage. Simple test. Get a clamp meter and put it on your alt cable. Start the car with all accessories off and then gradually start adding loads by turning on accessories.
  17. ok, i have two q 15's w/ bp power and I was just wandering what the actual power handling of these is with the bp power? I want to power these with an IA 40.1 if not too much and my box is 8.18 cuft. tuned to 27hz. I also have two optima 34/78 yellowtops in the rear and a red top in the front with dual runs of 1/0 to the rear and dual 1/0 will be going into the amp also. thanks
  18. 2-400 watts depending on application... If you abuse them you'll break them, as you would any other speaker. If things are set up properly and you don't abuse them they'll be fine..
  19. For home theatre, I would use the evil, for in a vehicle, I would use the icon.
  20. great amp for some bl's imo

Great now that you are here, why do you use the basket that Scott owns the patent on, without permission?
