  1. It will perform very well in a daily setup and should play fairly flat (which is good) Lets say someone tells you "man it could be louder with more port" This could be true but it may come at some cost. Here at a couple examples (just as a reference) Lets say enclosure A tuned at 34hz has 200sqin of port and on the meter does 145db at 30hz, 153db at 45hz. Then enclosure B tuned at 34hz and same size but this one has 120sqin of port and this one does 148db at 30hz and a 151 at 45hz. I would take setup B any day of the week in a daily setup. These are clearly just examples and would be install dependent and may not be the case in every install but.
  2. If your desired frequency response was to play anything underneath the 34hz range with authority, then I would recommend the sp4. You pick a sub that fits your goals. In order to do so, a person will have to do the necessary research to find the proper tool for the proper job. You wouldn't buy a hand wrench to unbolt a 10" long screw, you would use a power drill. Same concept. Will they both work to get the job done, well of course. But which tool will be the most sufficient, that's the question you need to ask prior to your purchase. I hope this makes sense.
  3. I would think so because this forum is owned and run by SSA. Plus they are one of the best line of USA made subs on the market!
  4. I still have urges, but it is not terribly bad. I have not had a cig in 11 days. That isn't bad considering I smoked just shy of 2 packs a day.
  5. Everything should work now except for the port graph function where you can input t/s specs. I'll fix that tomorrow evening when I get a chance.
  6. Care to elaborate? Have you bought, installed and listened to the SD-8? I would rather run a Dayton HO than 2 SD-8's sealed; therefore I wouldn't switch from the HO to the 8's and would not see that as an improvement. Not sure what that has to do with bought & installed. In fact, most people who buy things favor them for the wrong reasons.
  7. Huh? Thur we hosted Thanksgiving, Fri made 8 pies for Thanksgiving at the inlaws on Sat, Sat Thanksgiving, and Sun was our yearly Cookie Baking party at the house. I am fucking tired. That sounds like a nice weekend. I'm exhausted from work. I slaughtered some volume though. My District manager also invited, and told me he would let me know when to apply. There is an area manager position opened up. This month will be quite pivotal I bet.
  8. I've played with a DCON, ICON, and XCON. My XCON 10 has been amazing so far but I've only begun to get any listening time on it nor have I really had time to tune it in with everything else. The 15" ICON that I sold to a guy locally and have helped him install and tune has more potential, I know it. We're looking at building him a new enclosure but it kicks plenty if ass as is. His friends have claimed having trouble breathing when it's cranked up but comment that it was the best they'd ever heard before bailing out, lol. The DCON though, has to be the best bang for the buck sub I've ever had the pleasure of playing with. My sisters 12" DCON gives more output with better detail than anything else I've used in its price range. It's hands down the first thing I recommend when someone is looking for a more budget priced sub. I have to ask, why are you so worried about the SQ of the SSA lineup or from any line of subs for that matter? The enclosure and it's design have SO much more to do with the results you hear than the driver itself does. Besides that the sub plays such a small set of frequencies that it's importance pales in comparison to the rest of the system as a whole when you're really talking SQ.
  9. The sp4 imo is designed for lows. I think a zcon would be a better option if you're wanting to play that high.
  10. Well the night started rough so we finished it off with some hammer time. I don't like how the slow motion on youtube degraded the sound and picture quality. Slow motion from my phone.
