  1. Bedliner is done and the paint on the port is drying. After the port is dry, I'll be painting the SSA logo on the brace red.
  2. 1 point
David hand built me a set of subs a while back. No issues.
  3. Yes, it is a Hennessey, but whatevs:
  4. Best and only proven method to avoid deer is to pay attention to the road.
  5. Dude M5 can seem like a dick but he knows his shit, inside out, backwards and forwards. I'd listen up. Three way is a whole 'nother level, start simple, save money, enjoy it for a while and then decide if you want to progress. You should take some advice, or admit that you have no reason to ask questions when you ignore all answers. Wasting people's time they are generously giving to you. You wanna burn up money and hate the result? Go do it quietly....
  6. i know exactly wut ya sayn
  7. terrible idea, they will sound like shit. fix your current install. something is seriously screwed up if they're cutting off.
  8. I did once..... Almost tore off my trunk lid.. Not literally but you know... And the resonse was worse you might gain some output with a wall off. which would let you take it easier on the sub. Yeah walling off sounds like a cool project but it's my daily driver.. Plus my dad bought the car (still in high school) and i don't think he'd be to happy if one day he couldn't look out the back window or sit people in the back seats if you know what i'm saying lol
  9. I don't run a 3 way active setup and love the hell out of my 80prs. Love being able to control things.
  10. I guess i just feel like a noob with everything in car audio. Like when i start to get one thing right, another one is wrong... Idk how to determine how much actually power is going to the sub and how it's going to react thermally. It just seems like an endless amount of things to learn between the acoustics and car electrical...
  11. lol, the rms is not power handling, it is the thermal rating BUT, obviously, if you put it into a 20cubes box, and bottom out the piss out of it, or anything, you will damage. What I mean to say is, no matter the rating, a user can still very easily damage a sub at ANY power level.
  12. do not let your dust cap get crazy hot. its a carbon cap so its thermally conductive and thus it will always get some degree of heat transfer but if you burn your hand touching it then its to hot. you know when you are turning your bass boost up to get that extra volume for your friends. dont do it! this is why: http://imgur.com/a/XgKEP also keep in mind that hifonics will only do rated power with a lightning strike. if you are getting full excursion on that sub ill put money down that your clipping your signal hard core.
  13. 100% assembled and ready for bedliner! Box came out awesome. Now I REALLY cant wait to hear this beast. It's sad that the 14" Octaport looks small on this box...
  14. Wow. I would have never gotten car audio for xmas..Good luck!
  15. okay thank you, And eventually I'll upgrade to 2 HC1400's and OFC wire. I got the sub as a Christmas gift from my dad and grandpa but obtaining all the electrical for it is being quite the process
  16. That is good advice, and not too spendy...
  17. Just make sure you are monitoring voltage and don't get too carried away. The HC800 is a nice battery, but you should definitely add another. Look into welding cable for your upgrade @ weldingsupply.com
  18. Like I said, I'm in the process of upgrading. I'm 17 and still in high school, money is hard to come by
  19. This has Jared, Adrian, and/or Neal written all over it:
  20. Couple recent enclosure I have done
  21. Which is one of the points we make here pretty regularly. A 1db difference is essentially inaudible, hell a 3db change would be hard to hear. So people picking pieces of equipment fretting about these small imperceptible changes is asinine. But it happens, all the time. Worry about the big stuff, don't sweat the small stuff you can't hear. People in this hobby worry too much about things they can't hear.
  22. Obviously, there is also a point of diminishing return...
  23. No, it will be lower than if you tuned the larger box correctly. It's physics.
  24. Nope. 99.9999999% of the time, smaller = lower efficiency and more compression. Your score goes up because of other reasons (shift in resonance) not because of smaller size. The trick is to use the larger volume to increase your enclosure peak by manipulating tuning. By simply making a box smaller with the same tuning will cause output to be lower overall, all of the time... One of the biggest miss-conceptions in car audio...
