What to look for in a sub for a sealed box?
Ideally you would model the driver in your desired enclosure before purchasing one to verify the response meets your needs. However when initially looking for drivers to select a good staring point is to calculate the driver's Efficiency Bandwidth Product (EBP). EBP = Fs/Qes If the EBP is 50 or less it is best suited for a sealed enclosure. Between 50 to 90 or 100 the driver will work reasonably well in either ported or sealed. Above 90 to 100 the driver would work best ported. So as you can see it isn't ONLY about Qts, you have to take Q in relation to Fs to determine what type of enclosure the driver is most suited towards.2 points

First ssa order!
2 pointsok first off tbe price doesnt match the quality.. the n3 slammed on burps but nothing else.. but thats what it was designed for so no complaints from it really... the team fi... supposed to be some kind of god send.. not so much.. it was loud but sounded like shit while doing so.. reminded me so much of a orion hcca I bout puked.. im sure fi isna decent product but im just not buyin it I've only used the lower tier's of subs (X, SSD, Q) but none of them disappointed in the least. It's hard to believe the Team sub would inherently sound bad. I don't see any company that would want to remain in business do that on purpose. It just makes me curious about the installation and setup.2 points

need help with sub wiring
1 pointI wouldn't suggest having him set his gain knob to any one position. Honestly there's no way to know exactly where the gain knob needs set without being there working on his specific setup. Personally I set all my gains by ear, the OP should probably at least look at using the DMM method as I am sure he probably doesn't have the ear (just yet) to notice when the subs start to distort or show signs of stress. I hate suggesting that method as it's not the most accurate either, but it's nowhere near as inaccurate as suggesting a single position on the knob.1 point

need help with sub wiring
1 pointPlease don't do that. Turning your gain way up like that is going to kill something for sure. Unfortunately, there is no "set it to this" solution. You will have to rely on your own ears unless you have someone else that has some experience with this matter on hand.1 point

First ssa order!
1 pointAlton. I had it running on a t2500 in the back seat of a f250 crew cab. the box was a little over 5 cubes tuned around 33 hz. The sub was nasty loud but for the price i expected alot more.. it didnt sound good either but that may have been because the sub was literally right behind your head like inches away. my buddy bought it from me and you dont live that far from us im sure we could set up a time and place to meet sometime so you can get a demo.. it does get really loud and low but casey had a 12 inch single zcon in this jacked up box and the zcon got just as loud and just as low sounding good while doing it and he had it on a ap3000 @ 4 ohms.. im not doggin fi. I'll just never own another one. ive heard some lower end ones that were pretty impressive for what they were but for a top end high dollar sub I guess I just expect too much.. thats just my opinion but everyone has a preference.1 point

First ssa order!
1 pointnice man.. so how did u decide on a bl? I had a btl n3 and a team fi 15 and no offense but ill never EVER own another fi product.. and if I dont like this zcon.. which I dont see how I couldnt. but I think imma roll with ol dss.. everything ive seen from Q seems to be legit.Port it with a really well built box, and it will be just about impossible to dislike a Zcon. SSA and SSA subs have been around a good while now for a reason. Our strongest marketing is word of mouth as that is how most customers find us. exaxtly why I ordered one SSA FTMFW1 point

for the way less than the cost of the pr's you could build several boxes with different specs and test out which is best.1 point

3x SSA DCON 12's Tahoe.....144.57 TernLab
I was on the forums awhile ago and got some great help designing a box from a member (can't remember who). Just wanted to show what he helped me do. I have 3 SSA DCON 12's in a 1999 Chevy Tahoe. I just metered on a TermLab and the results were great. I have had this system in for over a year and this is the first time I have had it metered. Thanks again for the help from the build... http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/gg506/eddielong1975/376572_532111330147364_1694144002_n_zpsfdfeacd5.jpg http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/gg506/eddielong1975/218079_532113020147195_1480755921_n_zps062b6a97.jpg http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/gg506/eddielong1975/DSCF1556_zpsc40ae279.jpg http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/gg506/eddielong1975/DSCF1555_zps13de709b.jpg http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/gg506/eddielong1975/DSCF1552_zpsae1bfbf1.jpg TermLab results http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/gg506/eddielong1975/20140403_182653_zps901abed9.jpg From the port http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/gg506/eddielong1975/20140403_191109_zpse462b10c.jpg1 point

I'm glad the enclosure is working out so well for you!! It's one that I wonder out often because of the love I have for the DCON's! I'll make it easier to see the pics too.1 point

hifonics amps
1 pointA certain amp is not required to break in a subwoofer, playing it normally over time will help it loosen up the suspension. As far as thinking you need rated power to get your subs moving, that's incorrect as there is no such thing in underpowering a subwoofer. Just save up and get the amp you want now, it will save you more in the long run. Instead of rushing to have a completed system, slow down and do it right the first time. If that is all you want to spend on an amp period the go quality over quantity. Try to find a good brand amp at your budget level instead of more power lesser quality, you may have to buy used.1 point

1 point- 2013 Chrysler 300 (Fi, Crescendo, SSA)
worked from 10am yesterday to 12am today and got it playing. Its extremely loud, but it doesn't play the lows as well as I had hoped. I think once its sealed off a bit more it will get better, plus one of the woofers hasn't been broken in. So far I'm pretty happy with it, but now I need sound deadener for sure.1 point- need help with sub wiring
1 pointThe amp maybe 1200 @ 1 ohm but it cannot give BOTH subs 1200 watts each. In any given circuit the power is distributed through all loads in the circuit and when the resistance of those loads is the same the power in the circuit will be divided evenly by the number of loads. 1200w / 2 = 600w per driver. No amount of wiring changes can negate this.1 point- 2013 Chrysler 300 (Fi, Crescendo, SSA)
Thanks guys, Its getting there I'm hoping with the smaller airspace for the subs I can get a real musical response out of them.1 point- 2013 Chrysler 300 (Fi, Crescendo, SSA)

Btw for the SSA fans here Ill be putting 2 Zcon 18s in here shortly after the box is finished just as a comparison to the Sp4s. Ill try to make a video of both for reference when that happens.1 point- 2013 Chrysler 300 (Fi, Crescendo, SSA)
Finishing the outside shell and bolting it down this weekend. Used 3/4 oak for the inner layers, 3/4 mdf for the outside. The angled pieces going in the edges will be glued and then fiberglassed in. I also got the amp board and battery case plastidipped. I made a rough estimate of the interior dimensions and I have about 22 cubes to work with so far.1 point- 2013 Chrysler 300 (Fi, Crescendo, SSA)
I know, whats up with that?? That's as far as Ive gotten, I need to tidy things up as far as wiring underneath the amps, and finish the beauty plate for the deck (gaps). So far I only have the aurum cantus 6.5s in the doors as the door panels will be a whole new project. The morel 378s are in the stock highs location in the dash for now. Need to run all the wires through amp board, and plasti both the battery holder and the amp board. Eventually I plan on getting another pm1. The false floor will hopefully be in the back in the next few weeks, I have really been thinking about doing a ported box for the 18s but I'm still not positive. But for now Ive got some very decent sound going.1 point- need help with sub wiring
